Instead of just showing what the control screen looks like, it would be handy if you show specifically the controls that need to be set for the Aim 7 and then reference them during the flight. "Boom" doesn't help, "Change IRST Mode" could help, if you follow me. I'm looking for how to select a specific target for the radar lock because I've been messing with controls a while, to no avail. And your video comes up way early on the list, so you should be able to get quite a few views. Adding some more specific content could help you get likes/subscribes.

To those who don't know, Aim 7 mechanic in game is bugged. It doesn't behave the way it's suppose to. Yes, you need to maintain lock on target (it will self explode if you break lock). HOWEVER, once it's fired, and the system "detect" that you still have lock (on anything, whether is chaff, or different plane) the missile will continue to seek the "original target" that you lock when you fire. So.....at the start of the combat, when the enemy tend to stick together, your radar will likely to bounce between targets. you just time your shot, then bang, 4 kill right at start. (in short, inorder to aim 7 to work, you just need to maintain lock, doesn't meter it's on the "real target" or not, once the missile is fired, nothing will effect it, all you need to do is maintain lock)

What if you don't see anything on your radar to lock on to? I am using everything correctly, my Radar doesn't show anything in RBs. I can she the enemy aircraft in my Radar, can lock on them, and can fire at them with my AIM7D in realistic test flight. But I couldn't get even a single lock on to target in 21 RBs. Nothing even shows up on my radar let alone locking on a target. I am using the same search/sensor mode, scope which I am using in test flights. I even did try many times different altitudes ranging from 1000m to 10,000m. Nope, no single enemy aircraft shows up on my radar. Did Gaijin messed things up since this video is posted? Or, what could it be? I finally researched Da****n missiles and can't even use them at all.

They do actually work at 20km if the target isnt flying away from you, i scored a kill on an F4C from 27KM on afghanistan yesterday.

I have done everything, it works perfectly in training missions, but in the realistic battles, I don't get lock at all.

@@akthewareagle8595 Yes. Works well in training. Very well and fast. But in realistic battle I had lock only once, got it when I was less than 1km from enemy plane, but in very bad angle so I couldn't fire rocket. I have that first Phantom F4c AIM 9b are garbage, and AIM9e the same garbage. It is very easy to dodge them. Even in less than 1km distance. I'm playing expendable bomber- 1 bomb run and then I'm killed on the way to base. Fast cannon is the best weapon on phantom so far, after bombs.

@@akthewareagle8595 well yeah. Everybody is low. I should play as boom and zoomer in phantom but that is a moot point. Mig21, mig19 these are cancer. I may fly high, I may fly low, I feel like prey. I can only fly straight. When turning I can't keep speed, and turn takes too long. BTW when I'm low the radar works badly. And as I said, nearly everybody flies 100m and less

@@akthewareagle8595 Now I flew very, very low. I managed to lock. Mig21 dodged it from 3km. then it dodged second one from about 1km. Then he got behind me using very fast turn and shot my down with his rocket, even if I tried to get away and dodge. Its no use. That plane would be more easily shot down by cannon. But at that speed and with mig maneuverability I couldn't hit him... :( I didn't know that mig21 was better and more maneuverable plane than phantom.

You don’t have to go for the one in the box, you can manually choose who you want to lock onto if the brackets are not on the one you want.

That and how come the radar keeps locking on to friendly planes instead of the enemy and how do you remove the lock off your alley and onto the enemy, because it puts you at a unfair advantage because while you're trying to get the lock off you are already getting shot out the sky AND THIS IS PISSIN ME OFF!!

After getting the bindings for the Aim 7s working, my aim 9s no longer fire and tone only happens if I have a radar lock, which is weird. At least you helped me get the sparrows working.

@@deathtodiablo7402 Nope. And you can't find a solution. Gaijin pretty much fcked the game after this video. You will never see anything on your radar and able to lock onto them with AIM-7D. You will be able to see somethings and lock onto them on with AIM-7E with later version of the radar, but they will always dodge the missiles. I stopped playing Air RB long ago. They last 3-5 minutes anyway, worst than Arcade Battles.

@@deathtodiablo7402 yes they also have this problem with early Radar guided missiles such as R-3R. This is the Gaijin way. They always nerf the previous tech/mechanics/missiles whenever they introduce a new one. This is how Gaijin always do - instead of improving the game play, they always nerf the previous and release the new one at the latest quality/level they already have it in game. Worst developer ever imho.

What the point of even using the radar missles if you are going to be using them at the same ranges you use sidewinders? Ive found with 7f and 7m you can easily fire from 9km and still hit pretry regularly.

Learning to operate my f4e i have trouble with the radar lock it fails to start up or if it start up it locks on the wrong plane or even on friendlys flying close to boogies it works too slow the lock on has me killed manny times trying to start it up and atchief a sucsessfull lock on it does not work as sooth with me as it does on your vid yes ime on ps4

The radar and rwr swapped side in a game update a while ago and cannot be changed, and that should be in options>graphics I believe

I just wanted to reach out because I’m having trouble using radar for my Aim7Ds I don’t understand the whole radar lock stuff I have a button linked to select radar/ Isrt target to lock as well as a button for lock radar on target but by the time the middles and radar locks onto the plane it’s so close to not fire and even when it’s far enough to fire it’s like my middle is Dumbfired first and then it start to track but it goes zinging past the plane

Hey I’m reaching out because I cannot find a reason why my Aim 7c will not track. I get a radar lock…circle turns red..I get a launch and it’s like the sparrow launches dumbfire. It just flies straight and will not track. Very frustrating as I have no clue what’s up.

@@akthewareagle8595 nope. This is in practice mode I come off the carrier and immediately lock on to the mig 15 air targets. Heat up and wait for the red circle …launch and it’s like the missile fires..it does not immediately detonate so it does fly towards the target but it will not track. I am maintaining a lock on the target the entire time.

Atm there is currently a bug that some players are experiencing where all radar missles simply won’t lock and fire. Gaijin is aware of the bug

If your plane is pulling too many Gs it won't fire. Otherwise check your Air-to-Air missile key binding. Make sure you don't have multiple functions mapped to a single key as this sometimes causes a legitimate command to be cancelled by a non-legitimate command bound to the same key.

@@DlFane You CAN get a lock from above but the angle has to be right and the ground/everything below the target is interference for the radar. That makes it really challenging to get a lock when you are above a target versus when you are below.
