Awesome video as always man. I have noticed the frame rate dropping a bit in certain parts of the video. I'm not sure if it's because of KZbin or from a hiccup in your recording software or exporting at 30 fps. Just wanted to let you know. :)

On the stat card of my R2Y2 V3 it says that the max repair cost is 50000 Lions. Does that mean when I die, I have to pay 50k?
@lucassanders9951
@lucassanders9951 8 жыл бұрын
Depends on mode and the extent of the damage. AB repair costs are less than RB/SB. A completely wrecked aircraft will cost more/take longer to repair than one that's shot to hell but you manage to belly land. Also, the fee is not incurred immediately; you only incur the fee if you pay for an immediate repair on the plane. For this reason most frugal people un-click the "auto repair" option. Your crews will repair damaged aircraft over time which depends on the rank and level of their skills- this costs no money. You can also let the crews partially repair the aircraft before paying a lesser repair cost.
@CAL1MBO

+Lucas Sanders I'm aware but surely if I just crash it straight into the ground in RB I would pay a straight up cost of 50k? That's insane!

Great video, this debunks the myth that people who don't know how to headon always say: headons are a 50/50 chance. The biggest way people fail at headons is they don't even try to evade until the opponent is dead. If you want to survive a headon, you must evade around 600 meters at the latest, or you will still receive hits and possibly die.
@jengar6258
@jengar6258 8 жыл бұрын
i agree its a myth, and also that many people make the mistake to only evade when the enemy is dead. Forgetting that he also shot off a salvo. I would say evade even earlier then 600m. 600 already means that you often die.
@cptflyingfort7147
@cptflyingfort7147 8 жыл бұрын
+Jengar I'd day 600 only if you pull an inverted headon pass, meaning you are rolling inverted as you are shooting which only works with nose mounted guns, I usually start to evade around 900 meters.

I have gotten killed in head-ons when the other guy wants to play chicken and, I shoot him down either with guns or rockets when he is right on top of me, and of course, I end up running into his debris. As long as I killed him even a split second before I run into his debris, is fine. Then it still counts as a kill for me, and a crash for him. Otherwise, it is recorded as a crash for both of us.

i fucking adore head ons. If someone invites me to do one, I accept it and usually the opponent dies. The trick is to fire at 1.5km, he goes up in flames while you can easily avoid the incoming bullets. Works with almost every aircraft (except for the F2 Sabre, because Sparks)

Hey Jengar. Is it recommended not to fly straight if you want to head-on? I mean like turning a bit just to avoid having a predictible line of flight? Last question off topic: I use 500m convergence for all my planes. What would be your choice of convergence for a normal arcade game? Choice for a wing mounted guns in particular. Cheers and thanks for your help!
@jengar6258
@jengar6258 8 жыл бұрын
i often fly with 600 meters for wingmounted guns, and 800 meters for centrally mounted guns. 800m is also ideal for headons, as it gives you the best range, which is what you want in head ons.

Yes Jengar time! So, opponent coming from below, shoot below him (or directly on him). Opponent coming from above, shoot above him!!! Easy-peasy rule to remember! UP-UP DOWN-DOWN ...must check your snap-roll video, I'm sure I saw it in your videos but I don't recall watching it. -Navigator set course for Jengar's video list. -Aye aye, Sir!

do keep a sharp eye on the movements of the enemy though, because if a plane comming from avove puts its nove down you'll have to switch the lead to below quickly, and visa versa :)

+Jengar yeah you are probably right. do you think it is due to gamers coming from fps's and the likes. Although I really cannot comment on the complexity of the game in correlation to other games, as this is the only game I've ever played. I think alot of guys can't get kills and blame gaijin, but I also think that the youtubers have a great effect on the perception of the game for these newer player. tha is also shouldn't be underestimated.

Defensive flying, i could, but it'll take a while to gather footage. In the meantime you could look at my Thank you compilations, there's a lot of defensive dog fighting in those. its a skill you build up over the years, much of it is instinctive.

In general, turn into the dive. They'll generally have too much speed to react and will have to reset their attack, which should buy you some time. If you execute a full turn you can sometimes catch them in your sights as they overshoot you. I've done this a grand total of 1 time, against a Zero which had every advantage against my stock Firefly. He dove and was attempting to engage in a turn-fight (which would have been dumb for me) but as he banked left to pursue I was already finishing my right-hand turn and he was in my sights at about a distance of 10 meters. After I got done peeing myself I unloaded a burst of 20mm into him as a snap shot that I'll never be able to do again if I tried. You don't need to research improved cannons/ammo if you're firing at 10 meters. Just saying.
@jengar6258
@jengar6258 8 жыл бұрын
getting someone to overshoot by either rolling, snaprolling or turning and then turning into him and shooting him in his zoom is a solid tactic, that i've executed many times. This isnt easy if you've never done it though as it requires you to move the plane while looking at the opponent in your maneuvers.

I do my best to avoid Head on battles, but on the subject you did not mention Gun Convergence and range. I wish there was a simple guide for each aircraft in WT that could tell me what the average or better than my guess as to what range I should have my guns at. Wing Gun mounted Fighters (300m) Nose Gun Mounted Fighters (300m) Attackers Same as Fighters? Bombers (not for AI) but user shooting (300/400/500m) no idea, for my the worst of my shooting in RB. =NmY= GoGoFly
@jengar6258
@jengar6258 8 жыл бұрын
gun convergence for head ons is best at 800m. as you want to fire between 2 and 1 km distance. 800 meter convergence give you effective range till 1600-2000 meters. in a lot of wing mounted fighters i do run 600m though, centrally mounted guns i always set to 800 meters.

You *can* head-on anything. That doesn't mean you *should*. It takes some learning, but I try to avoid head-ons with aircraft that either have 1.) More cannons than me; or 2.) have a substantial center-line armament (B-25s/PBJs, F-82s, I-16s at lower levels, P-39/63s, Russian planes built around 37/45mm cannons, etc.).

If my guns converge at 500 meters, how will it hit a target headon at 1000-2000 meters?
@jengar6258
@jengar6258 4 жыл бұрын
with 500 m then will still have the wih of your guns at 1000m after they crossed, at 1500 meters they might still hit a wingtip, but its unlikely, at 2000m they will not hit anything.
