The M8A1 was always a neat and powerful little vehicle. It's quite funny how effective it is in War Thunder in contrast to the real vehicle which was rejected because the US Army had the bigger M10 and would soon be getting the M18

To be fair the Ki-27 is almost like a baby zero, the main difference being less firepower

A5M4 lowkey turns better, just requires you to actually know how to use combat flaps properly, while the Ki -27 requires no such knowhow

Oooohhhhh dam this takes me back. I started with US tree, and the M8 short barrel was one of my favorites to use all the time back then. Its ridiculously short reload and mobility were what made me into a brawler at heart I think.. even though it had abysmal range. Remember hitting a 1km shot once with it, the target was below the scope (before I found out about scope ranging). Glad to see we both have similar tastes :)

Fun fact about the T-50/T-126: you can pen the back of its turret with a .50 cal really easily; it’s only 15 mm thick.

As fun as the m8a1 seems, I can’t think of anything that beats the fun of playing the original Bulldog with APDS unlocked. Very good fun running around rapidly in a tier where most American tanks are slow, and penning panther front plate is very satisfying.

Bo, For tanks you can set a bind to use only the machinegun. This is reall handy for A, shooting at planes without pointing the barrel way in to the sky and B, For shooting over obsticles such as walls and terrain if the mg is above the main gun as it most often is.

I would like to point out that all of us are extremely fortunate, for we got to see the rare ZUT-37. It is rare because technically it's the worst AA vehicle in the game, if not in history. It's gun can't elevate very high, but that's not really a handicap because the turret rotation is so bad, you could weld it to the hull and not notice any slowdown in rotation. .At least the "autocannon"... 5 rounds then a glacially slow reload... has some punch to it. And it's a PREMIUM, too. It was what, 250GE? ZUT-37: ask for it by name! (Brought to you by the "wonderduck why did you buy that?" Foundation)), and viewers like you.)

I bought the ZUT a month ago and stopped playing it after about 10 battles. I think its BR used to be even higher too.

@@mikefoster6018 I have had one good match in the ZUT. If you can get a height advantage so you're shooting down at targets, that 37mm may as well be a flak 88 with its destructive talents. Bonus points if your hill is tree covered so you can hide. I racked up eight kills that round. I may have had eight other kills with it in the six or seven years I've had it.

Actually, there was an M8 that had a 75mm Gun M3 (the Sherman's 75) mounted in it instead of the 75mm howitzer, back in 1943. Swapping the two weapons and the turret modifications to slap the gun in hurriedly had no major effect on stability or handling of the M8 HMC. Armored Force didn't like the overall hurried result and decided that they should focus on light tank T24, and by July or maybe August 1943 the test vehicle was reconverted back to a standard M8 HMC. The project was never called M8A1, though some guy at Aberdeen during the project did stencil "M8A1" on the test vehicle. Officially, it was either informally "75mm Gun GMC M8" or officially "75mm M3 on HMC M8 Chassis."
