Brazilian Osorio? Yugoslav M-84? Ukrainian T-84? Humvee modifications? Toyota technical variants? Hummel? LA-9RD (V-1 rocket pulse jets on wings of LA-9, thank you Animarchy)! There are countless fascinating vehicles that have yet to see the light of day in War Thunder but what we get instead is incessant copy-paste. I don't mind some ctrl+v to help minor nations fill tech tree gaps when needed, but this is just absurd at this point.

F-117 being a squadron vehicle makes sense to me. Because it's a weird, unique vehicle with honestly pretty poor performance. So it doesn't make sense as a premium (where there's an expectation that the vehicle will be worth the money.) It doesn't make sense for it to be in the tech tree for similar reasons (how would you like to grind for a couple months for the F-117 only to find that it's terrible and useless?) It would make sense as an event vehicle. But it's a mainline production vehicle that is still in active service in the USAF and it's an extremely popular plane, so it'd lead to a ton of FOMO and locking stealth planes behind a one time event that would take more time to grind than most people are able to put in. So in all legitimacy, making it a squadron vehicle makes the most sense. It's free, it's always available and you won't have to use it at any point if you don't want to (eg using it to research the next bomber.) I don't see that as a cash grab personally. Just because some amount of people will be too impatient to grind it with squadron RP, doesn't mean that Gaijin is being shady or predatory about it.

Finally, someone with a brain, thank you for spelling it out to people. It's as you said a poor vehicle that only has its novelty going for it. Putting it as a squadron vehicle is the best place to put it. If you wanted a cash grab they could have made it the dreams come true event instead of the kv-7 and pissed everyone off most likely because then you would have to grind or pay out the tasks to get it if you didn't have the time, but they didn't they put it in the most free to play accessible spot in the game other than putting some length to the grind by making it so you can only get 20k RP every 3 days based on the size of the squadron you're in.

I understand what you mean, but i regret to inform you that gaijin will never willingly do that. Why? Because long grinds encourage people to pay to skip it. If the grind and the overall game itself was fun, then people would not spend money on it. For example, convertible RP is a resource that has been sitting there unused for years. They can let us use it for free for modifications and vehicle research. But they don't. Because they want the players to suffer, because a frustrated player is more likely to throw money at the problem to fix it.

I got and event vehicle and sold it for ge and recently bought a year premium and a pack for money for half off during the sale. Issues I have with squadron vehicles: if you aren't a daily player and/or don't belong to a squadron you can't get it. They almost exclusively make squadron vehicles for the high tiers, which only makes it harder to grind them and more likely to be bought by new players to "skip the grind" but in reality they get screwed because squadrom vehicles aren't premium. They would rather sell you non premium vehicles for GE, but they can't get away with that. So they call them squadron vehicles, and make it impossible to grind in a reasonable amount of time, but still point to it and say: "but its free too!" it's a shitty use of a good concept to extort players.

The whole tactic from gaijin is to get the low level noob, that thinks that he dies because the tank is bad, and the real fun begins later in game, at tol tier. Noobs are more likely to spend money on the game, as they have more to grind. When the noob gets to top tier, he gets obliterated by skilled players, most leaving the game due to frustration. But gaijin makes those vehicles expensive to get the most amount of money before the player leaves. Plus, it would be absurd to pay 80$ for some shitty rank 1 premium that nobody will use due to it being useless as a grinder, and very few low rank premiums are actually good.

I played a ton of games since i started with WT back when you only had planes and none of the premium stuff they offer is pay to win, some things might perform better than their counterparts in the same BR, but nothing game breaking. They had much rougher times before, when the T10 was the only tank with HEAT or the IT1 being the only atgm for a long time, back when you could get into a spot on every map and snipe the other spawn ... They came a long way since, but bills are bills and the premiums are keeping the lights on.

1) As you said with the new Tiger and Ostwind pack(s)- more options means lower chance of one-death-leave, so at higher tier the number of premiums could help. Given the financial commitment though, there's little guarantee it will help the problem unless bundle pricing is on offer with a high value proposition. 2) I feel that since the player strike, there's been a bit of a rug pull. Over time it appears RP and SL gains have tightened a bit, and they've done it slowly over time so that they can get back to a point where frustration pushes purchases without too many people noticing. This would explain the Cap'n Crunch attitude toward vehicle additions- "oops, all premiums". 3) As for the BMD-4M going premium, I get why they're doing it the way they are- if they have a tree variant alongside or before it, it would cannibalize sales of the premium so it becomes a bit of a wasted effort. I don't fault them for it as it's just good business sense, I just hope it doesn't turn into another A-6E TRAM situation- that thing was released in the Apex Predators update (Dec. 2022) and we were told there would be tree variants of the A-6. Two years later, and there's less than zero news on that front.

I love this game, all the hours i spent playing it on & off for 10 years or so was worth it for me, more than all the AAA titles i played in the meantime and never touched again and the bad ones probably cost me more than every premium in one of the 3 big nations together. Some ppl need to chill or take a timeout, others need to think about all the entertainment they got for free and never supported the devs with a dime, but those types are always the loudest. I for myself, i am just happy to be able to play so many different aircraft, ships & ground stuff from across history, if this game fails there wont be anybody doing something like this, so i hope they keep their business model + i like to grind with high BR, starting at 1.0 for the 5th time aint charming for me😅

They are pretty decent and help getting a lineup if the only thing you have is a premium, just throw a talisman on it and you can grind most high BR vehicles with them. Supply stuff makes more sense in something really squad based like Squad or Arma, but it doesnt make sense in the fast paced combat of WT, especially since we got ammo crates in ground and most jets wont survive until they need refueling anyway, nevermind being easy targets in resupply vehicles. Besides aint nobody want to play the waterboy of the military 😂

The points made about monetization practices for high tier ground units seems pretty moot when you acknowledge how not fun the game is at those tiers. Those games last like 45 seconds before you have someone sniping into your spawn or dropping AGM’s into it. It just isn’t fun. Getting high tier vehicles for a game mode that feels more like call of duty than anything else is foolish unless you just like the novelty of “having” them. When they give us new game modes to play with I’ll consider giving them money again.

Idk, I don't feel like grinding a whole ass tree just for F-117 or Su-33 and by doing this gaijin allows people like me to still experience other tech trees. And like... I you want to get to those tiers by regular grind you still generally buy some premium vehicle, so I don't see the issue really

In regards to the convertible rp, I'm a believer that they should be harder to get, but free to use. It annoys me so much when I look at the amount available being like 15-16 million or something like that and I can't touch any of it without spending money

Yeah, the problem is its gonna be really hard to do that beacuse most of the playerbase has over 100k convertible rp so if they make it free ppl are gonna skip half the game

I play as a non premium currently at 10.0 Brits. Every now and then I get 40 000SL chest. It does not really matter because you can comfortably earn 30 000 per match in RB. Grind is not that bad also both for tech tree and squadron vehicles - you just have to be member of random active squadron. Overall situation is not that bad

I have spent money to GE a few planes/tanks in my time playing, I've regretted it in a few instances but not always. If you want to GE a plane/tank and crew entirely you can be close to 15,000 eagles for top tier depending on how much you spade/ace I'm lucky to be able to have the income to spend if I choose, however with prices as they are now, I find myself comparing the planes under a metaphorical microscope vs just talisman on the TT version.. Premium vehicles, same as squadron vehicles at the moment do not feel unique enough, or suffer from the compression same as most TT vehicles do rendering their benefits moot Gaijin need to cap their pricing.. or offer bundles that don't included the bundled eagles and premium time for less if they want to continue adding top top tier premiums I think that if Gaijin want to help their income they really need to revisit the idea of SL talismans that work alongside the RP ones for normal TT, this would also increase the variety you'd see in battle as it'd make other aircraft/tanks viable without going broke

The only Money i put on War Thunder is on Premium Accounts, the one that's 20 days. But since i've started to play WT way back in 2019 i had never bought a Premium Jet

Its not just the vehicles, just look at the grinding events. Previosly you could miss one star now you cant. You got the cupon to sell it at all stars. Now you have to grind at least double or tripple the points you would need for all stars to just get the cupon. Even the sell price of stars got moved higer, at 80% grinded you still pay half price and at 95% you still pay 30% of the price you would pay for the full star. All in all the monitarization got outright preditory but it seems like noone cares. Than after some time when the newly implimentet vehicle is out and everyone got it, it gets moved in a bad spot that makes it unuseable. But do not worry the next big expensive thing is here you can now pick it up for only 80 $ and it will be good for another few months untill the next premium gets put into the game. Just to name a few. The saab is sad, same goes for the f5C, Mig23 is also pretty bad. not that you cant use those vehicles but they are outclassed in there br and you mostly get kills because you play against noobs.

Why did they make the BMD-4M a premium? The standard BMD-4 is an event vehicle. So, now they release the vehicle that people struggled to grind in the event available for everyone that pays. What about the tech tree? Why not add it there? For example, for the soviet tech tree, the update brings nothing new. Only premiums and the squadron vehicle which takes forever to get.

you forgot to mention that new premiums are by design op, then right before they eventually nerf them they put them on sale, and gaijin adding a new rank just so that peoples premiums are useless in grinding it so they need to buy a new one they did this already like 3 times)....

I can kinda understand the f117 being a squadron vehicle because it's it's a novelty vehicle it serves no real place in the tree because theirs no early vehicle to put before it with any stealth capabilities nothing good comes out of having it there and also its limited to gbu's nothing to defend yourself but that su 33 biggest mistake by gaijin by a long shot

I've been saying this for a while, it's just give them more money. Premium account, premium vehicle packs or GE, unique squadron vehicles if you don't feel like waiting a couple months, battle pass, old and new event vehicles, icons, decals, decorations, skins, trophies many different kinds, hell even changing your username. I mean I could keep going, but I think you all know and get it. Seriously though I have played a long time, and I like the game. But anymore it's insane so many paywalls for just everything. All that for the game to just feels copy and pasted, with no new modes or battles. I get it they are a business with a product and need to make money off it, but damn absolutely milking your player base is insane. It is the most expensive free game I've ever played, and it is not even close. Hell, it's the most expensive game I've played, and I've actually spent money just to get others just downloaded so I could play it. There is a reason Greed is one of the 7 deadly sins. It's just a shame.

Tbh, i would be happy if people paid GE for premium and squadron vehicle than against it. Because that mean Gaijin get revenue they needed to operate a F2P game instead of opting for more aggressive monetization strategy, like increase repair cost and round cost back in the day, or causing grinding a more pain in the ass experience. Ofcourse the sweaty no life tryhard would hate it because it make them lose the match, but hey, it's just a game, why you have to be mad?

The thing they're gonna do with the tiger line up pack is worrisome. They do the same shit in mobile and the prices in mobile are stupidly high! Like how do they think people will pay way more than what they would in the full game just showcases gaijins bottomless greed. With what you say about squadron vehicles, sounds spot on. The convertible rp you get so much of and can only use it with ge, feels like they want you to see the millions of rp you have waiting for conversion and hope your wallet will break open. There's alot of crap practices even for this type of free game it's dumb, and so am.i for investing as much as I have. Shame on us both.

Squadron vehicles have always been those little niche vehicles since they were added and they never gave any kind of Research or SL bonus so quit comparing them. They're collectible vehicles that are Niche and don't really belong in the Tech Tree. I think the SU-33 is a fantastic Squadron vehicle! The only difference from the SU-27 is a better but heavier radar, Canards, folding wings and the ability to land on aircraft carriers. Along with a few anti-ship weapons and such but I don't think we'll see those. I rarely watch War Thunder youtubers because all they do is complain and bitch about everything they don't like.
