Correct me if I'm wrong, dedicated incendiary rounds is worse then API. Sometimes at distance it may lack the penetration it needs to hit anything that may actually be ignited. I know this is a bit of a special case because of fighting a lot of armored vehicles, but when it comes to planes API is my absolute beloved. That's why I love American .50 cals, they often get belts made entirely of API-T, which is everything I would ever need. It has a tracer, it ignites components, it has the penetration needed to hit said components

Indeed pure Incendiary rounds burn on the surface, which is not that useful in WT. Likewise .50cal API would ignite on the surface and likely burn all of it before reaching a fueltank. Even so it was an upgrade over AP rounds as the API round could still ignite leaking fuel. I'm not sure how it all works in game. It looks like you rather just hit a fuel tank with anything with a fire chance coded into it and throw a dice to burn it, while leaking fuel is only a visual effect. Note that .50cal API rounds only had a tiny amount of incendiary on top of the solid AP projectile. 20mm and larger API rounds carried the incendiary load inside, so it could better reach the tanks or even just structures where fuel had leaked into. There were also have several kinds of HEI rounds which had intentionally only a small explosive load, so that it would break the shell and spread the incendiary load. Too much explosive filler in a HEI round would diminish the incendiary effect. Unfortunately these are also bit wonky in game, so it's usually better take the round with bigger explosive filler.

@@Teh0X I should probably note that the realization of I < API came when I was using 7.7 mm machine guns, that almost never ignited targets, despite using belts with mostly incendiary rounds, which somewhat improved with API. It may be that 12.7 mm incendiary rounds pack enough punch on their own not to have the same issue. Tracer belts for french F-6C-10-NA (mustang with 4 .50 cals) are made entirely of API-T and ignite everything so often, that at this point I'm surprised when they fail to do so

@@daroy1233 Yes lobbing just incendiary rounds would not have been effective. Perhaps against canvas covered biplanes it was effective, but an all metal aircraft, even without real armor or selfsealing tanks could soak a load of 7.7mm into their structure alone. When real protection was added, everyone "suddenly" needed bigger guns with HE or AP rounds to break the tanks to soak out the sweet nectar. For .50s they also made new far more effecitve incendiary rounds. Simply larger and longer burning incendiary splash. Interestingly even 30mm cannons had rounds filled with mostly incendiary, despite how effective these cannons were said to be against anything. At any rate such high capacity incendiary rounds were usually small minority in the carried ammo load. If I remember right, the used incendiary compositions actually burned hot enough to ignite aluminium, but on air that was quicky put out by the high speed airflow.

@@Teh0X On point. API never loses incendiary properties in WT, 12.7mm Incendiary does because the round simply pops on impact. Some 20mm Incendiary rounds like the German IT are just coded like worse API. Bad penetration, bad incendiary performance for the caliber.

Controller ground is easy gameplay that gives unfair advantages like auto locking aircraft through mountains. Because all controller player agree it’s hard to move the joystick left and right.

since you said the ratel 90 wasn't bad, you should play the objectively awful ratel version; the ratel 20. it has the same bad mobility as the 90, but with the same weapons as the marder IFV, which doesn't sound bad at first, until you realise you're expected to fight king tigers and jumbo pershings with 7 slow moving ATGMs and an autocannon that can't even pen a panther's side (day 21)

Nah I had way more fun with the ratel 20 than the ratel 90. I got like 4 nukes in the 20 bc you can set a keybind to use the atgm scope and only poke the atgm launcher over a hill, making you immune to return fire as well as being able to look out over the battlefield without ever being spotted.

Not an expert, but theoretically you can tell you’re up tiered by looking at the SP of your highest BR vehicle. So normally 100 SP means you’re being full up tiered. While 160 SP means no up tiered at all. But this can vary depending on your vehicle type. So basically lower SP means you’re getting fucked

Imma take credit for this addition. There was a really old reddit post about possible additions to the AA line for the US but it was never actually passed along in any way. I posted about it directly on the CC server and everyone who participates in the feedback channel upvoted and made it a point to actually consider it sooner than later. All the CCs who supported the post helped a bunch. In the future we may see more wacky US spaas. Like the one with the hyper ROF 50s.

T77 and Kugelblitz collectively represent what was possible as a peak of SPAAG of WW2 and immediate post-WW2 era and would probably be useful even today, though in other roles. Though for the period of Skysweeper and ZSU-57-2 the window on what is possible for SPAAG would change once again.

13:46 Isn’t a dedicated incendiary round the worst round in any of the American .50 caliber belts? I think the “fuse” sensitivity is too short to effectively pierce the air foil of an aircraft as well as pierce the fuel tanks to set a fire.
