The was by far the most popular song in Vietnam. It was played every night in every EM club in country by Philipino bands from the Delta to the DMZ.

9th infantry? My base camp was in Bien Hoa, but spent most of my time up North with the Herd & 101st. 11th Cav was out of Blackhorse. Caught a few rides with them, wanted us to hop in an APC. Nah, got a spot in a gun jeep. 67&68.

We had Australians stay in our unit several times in Long Binh. They would go downtown about every night. They seemed to like the nightlife dangerous or otherwise.

You should read “American Reckoning” by Christian Appy. It goes through the history of war in Vietnam before 1965 and how the US got involved and talks about the military operations and effects of the war on the nation. Very good book and recommend it for non historians and historians. I read it in my college US History class and it really opened my eyes to what really happened in Vietnam during the war.

Pitiful unrealistic graphics! Folks, it was the helicopters that did the work!
@marimbaman19692 жыл бұрын
I hope you know that the footage is from a video game and not real life. The shots I used were based off of real camera footage. And I do agree, helicopters did a lot of the work during the war.

Don't you recall 'Lieutenant Dan Taylor' (Forrest Gump: 1994) calling in those "fast movers" to napalm the area after his platoon was ambushed? Those 'fast movers' were all airplanes.
@marimbaman19692 жыл бұрын
@@clarenceday4773 indeed! For the record, planes did actually do a good amount of fighting and bombing whereas helis like the Huey mainly transported troops. There are exceptions like the cobra and little bird but yeah the “fast movers” definitely helped a lot.
