I'm an ex soldier, and I joined for the reasons Chris Parry outlined in his commentary. It is my opinion you are both way off the mark regarding the reasons recruitment is woefully down. Young men, and let's face it, we are talking about young men (I can't see a rush of young women with sharp elbows bullying their way to the front of the queue, not with war imminent), young men born and bred here will not want to lay down there live for a country that has betrayed them and their future. I don't expect them to fight for us (as I would have done). I would rather be invaded by Russia and live under their conditions than live under our current conditions. So what are we supposed to do, our people lay down their lives so the immigrants can take it all?

Not really lad. Theirs a book called storm before the calm that I'd recommend you read. Basically it says that every 50 years there's a new economical system that comes about which solves all the problems in the West. Due to this it brings a sense of pride and coherence within the West. The last one of these cycles was in 1980, whenever you come close to a new cycle you end up with a weak government that everyone hates as they're just continuing to do what worked for the guy who fixed the economy 50 years ago, while not adapting to the times. So, due to the next cycle being 2030, we our obviously going to have a weak government that no one supports. So stop blaming the problems we share with the late 70's and late 30's with something that affects a small percentage of the Wests population.
