Right, there’s a lot of brands and I prefer okuma and shimano, also phenix and abu Garcia. I use Berkeley X9 in white, and I use seaguar pink flouro. Great all around combo right there.

I've tried the Okuma tesoro out, and it's not as popular of a brand, but it's at a great price and it has the ergonomics and compactnes of the torium, but the smoothness and reliability of the fathom, pretty cool workhorse. but then for $100 more you can also get a saltiga or trini so that's something else to factor in I guess. They have good customer service too. I haven't tried their baitcaster's so idk about those.

Another great informative gear video afran! I always get stoked when talking tackle. Do you think the lower gear ratio beast 40 is a good reel for fishing crankbaits for calico? How does it hold up in salt?

Low gear raitos are typically ideal for crank baits. I haven’t use the lower gear ratio though. I have (4) Beast 40s that I’ve used in the salt water for 2-3 years. Not a problem with them at all. Currently I’m fishing the TRANX 300. I think the Tranx is a better choice for the money

I figure you're someone who might have an idea about this. Would the light/ultralight jigging rods (100g and under) work for 14-60g spoons for 30-80ft freshwater bass fishing? Use them a lot in the winter and been looking for a shorter long handled rod which jigging rods are, but I'm afraid of them maybe being too powerful for the spoon weights or even fish (want it to be fun) as I catch white perch and crappie as side catches as well.

I use a 20g slow pitch jig in 30-60ft for large mouth bass. The rod I use is a Major Craft Giant Killing B60 GKJ-B60/2 6'. Great video man! I fish down here in the LB and HB area the bite is as active as it is in SD and that's saying a lot because is SD has slowed down too due to the winter. Have any suggestions. Im newer to Spottie fishing and it would be great for some tips. Keep up the hard work with the company and channel!

Slow and low. Fish crabby style baits around docks and rocks. Also try the Underspin, Spotties love flashy baits. Good luck!

I would recommend either the Tranx 300 or 400 for calico/yellowtail set up. For the price, it's a great reel. Plus Shimano offers SERVICE & Repairs. That's huge. I'm currently using the Tranx 300 for calico
