@@joshuahaynes1026 Indeed! The whole "are you" an idiot or a lucker series was grand. Also, the battle royale modes "long before their time"!! And my personal favorites were the latter custom textures pieces of work. Like the Anime games (FOC, Naruto or other anime themed MOBAs and RPGs. DBZ RPG has always been legendary) Tbh, i am somewhat happy that they actually called that daring copy "reforged". Cuz even though the release was an absolute Desaster... it is retrospectively distinguishable, way apart from the original. Even when the ingredients are the same... That shite was cast through an iron mold, so to say!

Keep the Warcraft 2 videos going! This is by far the most nostalgiac game for me. A second hand computer I had as a kid had a pirated copy of this game before it was out and I've been in love with it ever since.

My god. I remember when I was trying to create a TD in Starcraft 1 editor I couldn't assign money for kills. You either assign it by score and reset score counter, or manually create 300+ triggers to specify how many minerals you get for how many kills. There were no "for" or "while" statements, only triggers. I can only imagine what kind of hell to create td in warcraft 2 would be. Map looks dope though, respect to the dev.

I remember making little RPGs in Starcraft I. You have the civilian move onto beacon you created those little trigger box on to select their hero from a few options, then kill the civilian and spawn on the selected hero in their place. Then when they 'leveled up' you'd kill the hero and spawn a unit you set to be the level two version, like a buffed marine for level 1 and a raynor marine for level 2 etc. I also remember downloading this thing that let you use different colors than were normally available for the factions like you could have black armored units and such. Shit you brought back so many memories. I was like in 7th grade and had absolutely no idea what I was doing. You couldn't just look up how to do stuff either you had to brute force it experiment-style. I never made anything good but it was fun.

I remember trying to recreate the last mission from WC3TFT in SC1 - turns out the AI doesn't know how to handle hero units, so all attacks on Obelisks had to be hardcoded. The map was shit but I was so glad when AI recaptured all my Obelisks and I lost, that was pure joy.

@@angry_zergling worst was when you would level up - but your character was close to impassable terrain - and the upgraded unit would never spawn; for example your upgraded character couldnt spawn into a wall. Oh the times of playing Nightmare RPG. Later on they made some incredibly clever maps, like Temple Puzzle by Devourer - where you were supposed to solve interesting puzzles by cooperating with other player(s).

The magnitude of hacks is unbelievable here. Developer specified that sending gold to pink player could break the game - because gold amount is a variable that stores the wave number. So there is no other way to store this value in game. Building anything with these rules is a great achievement. Thanks for showing us this, Stu!

I'm 36. I was too young to experience warcraft 2 back in 1996 (was more of a console player) then Starcraft released and I played it for thousands of hours to this day: growing older, I so wish to have experienced War 2 back during release cuz it has SUPERB atmosphere. Nevertheless, I played 40 hours of this game on gog. Congratz on speedrunning it !

I wonder if it’s possible to mod the game to the extent that you could balance both races without having nearly identical units? Or change exorcism to a spell that is like bloodlust, but it reduces damage done to the target by half for a duration equal to that of bloodlust, and have heal be autocasted. That would make Paladins MUCH better and you gotta admit, Paladins are severely underpowered compared to Ogre Mages.
