While I can say i'm definitely fond of some of the other alpha music for warcraft games and wish we'd seen that alternate reality, I have to say this does sound extremely like an extremely unrefined temp track

What's strange is these alpha-styled tracks feel perfectly fine when you put them into WarCraft 3, as long as you ignore the fact it's not orchestrated like the release tracks, it feels right for the game. Get lost in the gameplay loop, and you'll see what I mean. These alpha tracks were good for what they were, but obviously design direction took its course, and these tracks ended up on the cutting room floor.

It sounds like an area from a medieval style RPG game from the gameboy advance

Really nice song, I can see why they didn't use it as they probably thought it wouldn't fit the style they ended up going with art and music wise. I think for a credit scene or something it would've been a cool thing for them to play.

I think this sounds a tonne like the Human1 track from the same Alpha. Nice find!

So over the place. First minute sounds like something Adrian von Ziegler would compose, but after that - a 1990s video game soundtrack mishmash.

very all over the place track

It is but you can think of it as telling a story. When its intense there's obviously combat to be involved.

The MIDI soundfont you have at your disposal can single-handedly make or break a MIDI track. I know this track was used in early preview videos of War3 where it used what I assume is a Roland-MT soundfont(which composer Glenn Stafford generally prefers and uses anyway), and there the song is MUCH more presentable, even quite emotional. Still, the final game as it stands really does have the best soundtrack overall.

Was this by Glenn Stafford who did the music for Warcraft 2? Sounds a lot like it at points

I believe the composer on WC3 Alpha was someone called Andrea G. Pessino, and if i'm not mistaken she did 3 tracks (one of them, "human2" appears on 2 alpha gameplay videos).

Waiting for Chronicles of the Second War: Tides of Darkness - Alliance Campaign. I hope those LoreCraft guys would include this music in their wonderful reforged version of Warcraft 2.

Looks like plenty of composition ideas for a Castlevania game music but not an actual music and certainly not a Warcraft III music, weird

Yuuck! I'm GLAD THEY WENT WITH ANOTHER soundtrack.

could you imagine playing wc3 with this, like how we got it

Thank goodness the LOTR movies came out and Blizzard changed direction.

Could have made a fine track for one of those planned action point-and-click adventure interquels for the original RTS trilogy, in my opinion.

If it's a midi that means it could have inaccurate instruments, right? midis play different on different computers?

nice one but I can tell why they didnt put it on the game

This one seems to have incorrect instruments. There are other videos on KZbin that have the other tracks rendered properly and they sound a lot better.
@Abelhawk8 ай бұрын
The files are just MIDI files, so I rendered it online into an MP3. It sounds _way_ worse in its raw MIDI form. I'm not sure what converter the other videos used.
@Tore2998 ай бұрын
@@Abelhawk MIDI is simply a standard/protocol for communication with musical instruments. For a MIDI file to be rendered properly it requires the correct metadata and device / software to sound proper.
@Abelhawk8 ай бұрын
@@Tore299 Exactly. I rendered it using the software I had at hand, but they must have access to software with better instruments.
