Warcraft III Black Menu Screen Fix (Win10)

I have recently downloaded Warcraft 3 onto my newly built Windows 10 PC. When I tried running it, I came across a black screen with the menu music in the background. The only way to exit the game from that state was to hard-reset my PC.
And since I couldn't find any answers on how to fix this very specific problem, here's a video explaining exactly what I did to get this amazing game working again.

i deleted the videos files, emptied the whole folder. i did compatibility mode xp 2 like shown in the video. the registry did not have all the folders. mine stopped at warcraft 3, no sub folders within. no matter what i did to mimick this video, i was still greeted to a black screen on start up with nothing further except alt+f4-ing the program. anyone figure out what to do to make this amazing game work?

i couldnt find the option in the regedit, it stops on Wacraft. must be having a diff setup or idk but the compatibility and deleting movies worked. it was prolly only the compa. settings that did the trick

for me, was necessary setup width 1024 and height 768 to norm start

I was on the cd version, i deleted it and installed the download version but then I would just get a black screen in the menu and would have to reset my computer to get out of it. I tried a bunch of stuff that didnt work, but ended up just reinstalling the cd version oh well.

Brandon Austin yeh well it fixed the video black screen but I suspect the game crash had something to do with the registry. I learned is very difficult to fully remove all of the warcraft files lol
