Alleria's new look would've been a little bit easier to take in if it resembled her more definitely. Give her hood back, facial paints, shoulder pad, etc. Definitely preferred her older look.

Bro. Cmon man. 20 years of a great character isn’t ruined by one small expansion. She had a pretty good run. And though they did her dirty in shadowlands, she was pretty great and epic up until that point. A character end arc isn’t all they are. Whether my grandfather died to cancer or died in war, he was still my grandfather. His death didn’t define him.

@@DadbotYour comparison is completely stupid and has nothing to do with writing a character in a fiction story. The ending arc of any character is absolutely one of the most important parts. Take GoT for example, it had a garbage ending and that is what its primarily known for even though it had some good parts in between.

Nah, we need actual storytelling done well IN GAME. Blizzard tricking a bunch of doofuses to constantly have to buy secondary material in order to actually understand the story is the biggest W theyve had. Ill never understand liking WOW lore of all things enough to buy books and similar things. WoW and its lore are written by complete amateurs. You could throw a dart at a fantasy book section in Barnes and Noble and hit plenty with better pacing, world building, lore, character depth, character motivation, stakes, and adventure. WoW lore is only OKAY if youre heavily into the game, for some strange reason. As someone who loves writing and storytelling, fantasy most of all, WoW is bargain bin garbage. Legion was the best they had, and even that was YA novel levels of quality.

I really love the fact that almost all of the Bloodelves' storyline and why theyre on the Horde's side is mainly due to Arthas' genocide and in turn Garithos' racism and elitism towards the Bloodelves. Thier actions rattle across the game's story for decades, absolutely legendary.

5:15-Lots of franchises have done the whole mixture of Fantasy and Sci Fi. Thundercats, He-Man, Power Rangers, Tales of Series, Final Fantasy, Sacred 2 and the Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy. Even the Wheel of Time series was more of a medieval post apocalyptic setting of a futuristic society. Even Dungeons and Dragons as well as Warhammer, the two RPG franchises that inspired World of Warcraft also had a lot of Sci-Fi despite them being a part of the Fantasy Genre.

Alleria’s story is better than expected. She’s pretty well written and characterized. I can’t wait to see how the story of the elves develops in Midnight. I hope Turalyon’s story is handled well over time too. Arator as well. He needs his own unique model too. I hope her gets one in TWW and or Midnight.

@@betelgeux6010 Yes, unconditional good vs. evil is probably (alongside characters being predestined to do the things they do by a force on high) the biggest thematic difference between any fantasy fiction and, say, sci-fi. But you know what? It's a stupid, childish, and boring theme, and I'm glad that Blizzard abandoned it. I wish more fantasy fiction had the balls to step out of Tolkien's self-serving tropes.

It's interesting to me how Alleria and Turalyon are way more important now than most of the other "Sons of Lothar" (besides Khadgar) who were introduced to WoW way back in The Burning Crusade. I remember how people wondered if Alleria and Turalyon would ever show up in the game at all.

One distinction I think is really cool ,was the fact the demons died to the void onslaught without hope of a respawn wasn't just because it was the void attacking , but rather the fact the forces of the void forcibly tore them into the nether themselves to end them for good.

YES!! I was looking forward to another of these! I love the lore videos with wow narration and sounds! Also, I appreciate the underrated Mulgore bread episode as it makes clever use of the wow diegetic sounds. As someone who mostly listen to your videos it makes them extremely satisfying to hear as I play wow because they sound like synchronicities. :)

I wish more people would make their books like that audio drama that they produced. Narrated but with separate voice actors, background music, and sound effects. Marvelous production quality. More reasons that Legion was one of the best expansion!

Yeah gonna be real I'm not a fan of the new Alleria model either. Side tangent to that I'm not a fan of the void rebrand either, I liked the idea of using old god magic to fight back against them but now we are getting a new "good" power in the cosmic void and stylistically I just don't find it appealing. Especially with how they just slapped the new animations on shadow priest and now half the abilities coming in War Within just look like they don't fit on the class. Should've been a new mage spec or something in my opinion.

Probably end up as the main villain of the second one "Midnight" but redeemed. What I'd like to understand is why Void Elves are shunned but Shadow Priests are accepted. Certain clans of Orcs and Trolls live and breath the void. I'm sensing someone didn't think about that before writing that cut scene, and I'm sure he'd like me to get all the way off of his back about the lack of sense of that, so I'll just get right off there.

10:23 So to be honest... that is pretty standard novel stuff right there, nothing special. 14:00 This is one of the many things, that cheapen the whole story. "They have been fighting the Legion for 1000 years but because of weird space-time stuff only around 2 decades had passed"... this literally makes no sense. It is the same pseudo-talk like Technobabble that describing the pseudo-scientific terminology in some shows. Just with the difference, that real time moves in ONE direction, forward. No matter how much distance you could potentially travel, if you come back to the starting point as much time passed there as you spend traveling. Unless of course you do a real time-travel like what the Bronze Dragons do, where you travel back(or forward) in time and possible alternate timeline. 14:11 "The whole world of Argus has been teleported next to Azeroth"... to me this looks more like a portal, a tear in reality.

I think if they just kept her green face tattoo, it'd be fine. Her losing her ranger armor makes sense considering the people she wore it for don't even want her anymore, and she's probably gonna be ending up turning into a caster of sorts if she keeps leaning into the void. And the cut hair too is pretty symbolic of A. a new arc of her life beginning and B. the shaved side potentially representing the connections to her city and people now cut off.

Could very well be part of their reasoning. While I haven't heard Blizzard say so, other developers have admitted to intentionally creating characters that are cosplay-friendly.

A fun video and I did not know about the audiobook. Regarding her new design I do agree with others that it would work better with Vereesa. Me personally it looks too much like she is wearing ceremonial gear rather than something a ranger would use in the field and lacks both her normal colours and lacks void associated colours. Regarding the Void Elves I suspect that part of the reason we got them instead of HE is because Blizzard wanted a void focused race for the Alliance so that it was more normalised in players mind and we had more characters for void focused stories. Does kind of make me want a void focused class instead of just a subclass.

Blizzard looking at what they did to Arthas, Uther, Sylvanas, Jaina and any other major character in the past. "Time to ruin another beloved character." As with Blood Angels in 40k, writters sudenly remembering you exist is not always a good thing.
