Even if skinnies come back in, I’m fairly certain I won’t be wearing them again. Slim leg is definitely an option!

I also like them to tuck into boots! I wear my black skinnies all the time as I think that silhouette comes in handy :) But I do prefer my straight leg denim 🤭

Skinnies are so much more flattering anyway, they make our legs and butt look so good!! 🍑

For me, They're for boots and they're the stretchiest so I like them for airport outfits. But if they came back in, I'll still just have my one or two because I'm older and wiser now and they're not proportionally flattering on my body. Same way young people who are jumping into wide leg jeans now (and throwing/cutting up their skinnies), may learn skinny/slim is better for their body as the trend goes on and the thrill wears off and they notice the style doesn't actually make them look their best.

You did very well, I have kept clothes for my granddaughter who is 2, how sad is that….after this I will follow your example, however the Reiss sweater, don’t get rid of it, I bought some RIT dye, and it is so EASY to change the colour to whatever you want, I dye my cashmeres all the time….too good an item to pass along my dear. Many thanks for your inspiration, from Georgia in BC Canada

Such a helpful video! For the silk shirts, try them under a sweater instead of a cotton button down. That’s how I’ve been wearing mine to make them feel like everyday shirts.

Me, too, because they’re so comfy I wear them at home most days. Also, silk doesn’t need frequent washing or ironing, it’s so easy-care.🙂

We all love Alison Bornstein’s styling. She is much younger, and cooler/more hip than me, but I still find her tips very useful. Most influencers I follow are, but that’s fine, they keep me up-to-date, as do my favorite brands. My style is very classic and a bit dressier than the average American’s (really only because I’m not a denim fan), and I’m 63, but I like to keep it modern, too. I didn’t know she had a book out, I’ll have to get it.

To style those silk shirts, just wear them as you would other, cotton shirts. With jeans, trousers, skirts, etc. The only difference is the fiber, which only you know. A tip that might help you for future silk purchases: a matte (like crepe de chine), or semi-matte (like habotai) weave makes silk look less “dressy” than a glossy, silk charmeuse. These might be easier for you to style. I often get compliments on my “polyester” or “satin” shirts, and just smile and say thanks, no one needs to know they’re silk. I’m allergic to synthetics, so I wear much more silk than any other fabric, it’s a spoiler, once you try it, you’ll never go back. It’s orders-of-magnitude more comfortable than anything else, and I never overheat in it either (not a problem at your age, but wait till your 50s, it will run your life, if not ruin it). Equipment makes lovely matte silk items, they’re one of my favorite brands. Reformation is good for habotai, but all their dresses are too skimpy and sexy, I buy their silk skirts, mostly.

Just a suggestion on the Karen Milan faux leather jacket - don’t take the panels off as you will see the stitch marks. What might be better is to take the bottom section off the jacket entirely - crop it to just above the pockets

I would resell any natural-fiber clothes in very good condition, and donate the other NOs, unless they have stains or rips. I just use ThredUp, their payouts are very low, but it’s the easiest. Where I live, San Francisco, all college students, female and male, only buy apparel secondhand, one will love that faded army jacket, etc. Secondhand is gaining popularity in all age groups, but I haven’t had any luck with it at all. Our local thrift store employees are mostly full-time resellers who have the pick of the donations, usually for free, before they ever reach the sales floor. What’s left is all polyester, low-quality, trendy teen items from 5-10 years ago, or more. Most of it is in very poor condition, too. I got tired of spending so many hours in those places and not finding anything at all.

I suspect the fabric got ruined when the dry cleaner tried to remove the stain. He may have been afraid it was a pricey jacket and that you'd demand to be reimbursed, and the panels were his band-aid solution. Or he just thought he was being nice/helpful.

@angelsuspiriorum4 ай бұрын
baggy/wide leg, barrel/horseshoe, and construction/cargo jeans. personally i don’t care for the barrel/horseshoe ones but love the other kinds. that being said i’m not sure of adeline’s preferences but i know a lot of minimalists prioritize classic yet comfortable silhouettes over trends, so i could see minimalists leaning towards a straight leg or trouser jean (basically wide leg but more tailored/dressy looking). meanwhile a lot of women don’t like skinny jeans anymore cause we wore them in our teens/early 20s and they were super uncomfortable lol

@@redesignedlife777 i don’t lol i hate em! but to answer your question leggings are a soft enough fabric that they have more give. personally leggings still make me feel constricted, but jeggings are literally bad for your circulation because they’re similarly tight but with a thicker/stiffer fabric that is less forgiving to your body-i remember reading news/medical articles discouraging people from wearing jeggings or skinny jeans every day so as not to harm their circulation 💀
