This is some kind of therapy, I swear. The reverence that you have for small details and the almost bashful way you surrender to your quirks is the most endearing and inspiring thing. And to feel this way towards a video about shoes! Yes. Y e s.

Nice idea for a series, I look forward to your posts twice a week!! As a side note, I wouldn't bother trying to explain or justify the meaning of investing/spending/shopping, at the end of the day it's money exiting your pocket. If you have worked hard for it and you want to spend it, just do it! I think the main takeaway would be thinking a little bit more about longevity before you buy five pairs of not so great shoes vs one good one so that will mean different price points for different people depending on where they usually shop and what they'd consider better quality.

I like that you’re including different price points and don’t feel you should shy away from high end purchases as it gives us insight in to why something might be worth saving for / and what wasn’t. I loved the video! I'm sure everyone can relate to buyer's remorse, so it's nice so hear your honest opinion on your purchases. I'm glad I beat off the Prada Monolith bug, as I was pining for the boots so badly! And I also had my eye on the Eytys boots too. Now the Bottega Veneta chelsea boots have caught my eye, as they have a really narrow shaft which I like in a boot as well! It's a bit OCD but I keep an Excel spreadsheet of everything I purchase (and everything I'm thinking of purchasing, prices, etc.) and make little comments if anything was a 'regret' so I can look back and try not to make the same mistake! Some of my biggest mistakes have come from buying trendy high street pieces, and also "collecting" things from my favourite designers for a lifestyle that I don't have, rather than buying things that I'm actually going to get a lot of wear out of in my daily life. Looking forward to your bag video! xx

Massive shoe fan here to say that I am thoroughly engaged by your doctoral lecture on the highs and lows of a life with shoes. When you came to the Prada’s and were voicing doubts, I got it. If you want a pair of indestructible boots get yourself some Blundstones!! I've had my pair for 4 years already, worn them nearly every day for about 2 or 3 years, had minimum maintenance and they are still going strong. Talk about price for value. (Bear my English, I'm sorry) I've been following you on Instagram for quite some time but had never watched your channel before, I really liked this video (and series) and hope you will make more, I thought it was very helpful. ! I did sat a hour (without snacks) listening to you talking about shoes and thought it very interesting. I especially liked all the efforts you've put into the review itself and the informations you gave: the brand, the price, where/how you made the purchase, the style, the cut, the fit, the parts with the styled videos and your voice over, if you think it is a classic, a trend, the value for money, how much you've been wearing the piece and if you would repurchase if lost or stolen (you've added this one for the other ones in the series). There were really good reviews because there were going much further than a simple "I love them, they're so pretty" and that's rare. I really appreciated this debate with yourself and thinking in terms of reasoned purchases. And also the fact that you are very lucid an honest about it all.
@persephonescurse4 жыл бұрын
I think this was really informative, especially in relation to styling and proportions (as a fellow short gal really appreciate this). Can’t wait for the handbag video, I’ve had the Musubi on my Wishlist for ages, but it’s such a significant amount of money to part with 😬

Interesting content, thank you for talking the time to so thoughtfully make & publish this. Funny that your forever favourites are DrMartens which brand you've worn for 10-15 years? If it ain't broke! Can't cope with the shoes on the bed scenario 🤣🤣 but apart from that, loved the set and the nuanced black sandal/Oxford/boots scenario. (Plus I don't think a chiropodist would be happy about shoe heaviness) Like it when you talk through your thought process on styling, that's most helpful. I didn't know anything about monetising videos and I think you need to do what you need to do, but the video is so much more elegant, with a nod to slow living without ad breaks 🙏 Looking forward to the next.

The Burberry shoes! I've had similar feelings with other shoes myself. In those cases I found the it wasn't the shoe itself as it was one particular aspect of the shoe. Perhaps with the Burberry's the issue is that they're incredibly flat or at least look that way because the welt is wide and thin. I think if it was narrower and had a bit of a platform they would suit your frame much better.
@smellylorenny4 жыл бұрын
Ohhhh I'll take the Prada shoes off you 😭😭😭 For real though this was such a nice informative video to watch! I just randomly got recommended this and it felt so relevant to me as I've just gone through and spent a LOT of my savings on 'investment' pieces myself.. Haha! I've been dyyying for the Prada Monolith Derby shoe since I saw it on some girl's instagram last year but have had absolutely no luck in finding them in my size. I nearly bought a 'dupe' pair but I felt like it was better to save my money for the real thing. What can I say, I'm a bit of a 'brand wh*re'. I also got really excited when you mentioned your birthday was in May!! You must be a Taurus. The caring and extensive way you speak of these investments just proves it to me! As a fellow Taurus who takes great pride in my material possessions, especially my clothes, I say thank you for sharing your insight! At least now I know what to expect from the Prada Monolith (if I ever do get around to buying them...) I have quite a broad frame, especially in my shoulders, so I love to balance it out with giant shoes. I'm a big fan of chunky rave boots from the 90s especially, they look so dynamic and original! Definitely harder to style then a regular black shoe though.

I always struggled to justify spending so much on footwear but then I purchased some Gucci boots and have been convinced ever since that it’s worthwhile to occasionally drop some serious ££ on footwear that will stand the test of time. Also agree that price doesn’t always guarantee quality though. DM’s will last you decades and my favourite pair of lace up brogues from cos are 4 years old and still going strong! plenty of more affordable options that make a statement if you don’t mind about a label but I must admit, I’m a bit of a sucker for the label sometimes 😉 xx

I find the chanel 'dad' sandals interesting. I found a second-hand pair last year in Osaka and they were the dad sandals but with a nylon material and the iconic chanel logo on the end of the velcro straps but in rhinestones. I am a true 35 and they were a 35 as well but I found them way too big - it was like wearing flippers. But earlier this year, I found the newest variation which is the quilted leather with the black and gold logo on the end of the velcro and I found they fit nicely (though they are meant to be a bit looser, however, I can wear them comfortably with socks!). I really do think they vary within the variation of the sandal even though they're essentially the same style. I do think along with the Gaia sandal they're suited to late summer, though I'm still wearing them now, here in the Melbourne winter.
