Last year, Einar came to Montréal and did a private session during the day before his show with Wardruna later that night. It was awesome. There were just a few people there since it was a very small room. First come first served. Me and my girlfriend got there 3 hours early To make sure we would Have seats. Turns out we were the first ones there So ended up sitting right in front of him about 6 feet away. The guy is just amazing. Such an inteligent and articulate man. He talked about old norse mythology, Wardruna, Gorgoroth, runes, politics, Norway, school systems, spiritiality, history, how he makes the intruments himself, etc. It was just great man, like for real. He also demonstrated a few of his horns (intruments), and "lutes". The cherry on top was when he said, "okay guys, i will now play a few songs for you if you want" and proceeded to play the Skaldic versions of Fehu and Voluspa. Dudes... I am a 30 years old man but couldnt hold the tears when he was playing right there alone in front of us. Truly a great musician and an even greater man. So generous with his time. Took the time To talk and thank everyone that wanted To come and talk with him at the end of the présentation. This and the show with Wardruna that night made this day one the best of my life. (Sorry for small mistakes, first langage is french haha)

Mr. Selvik's voice is beautiful. It stands on its own, without the need for elaborate arrangements that hide the singer's voice most of the time. Their songs are magical because they mix history and mythology. They offer feelings hidden within the core of each, extolling something that the past seemed to have and which the present lacks and the future may have. These are brilliant songs!

I got dressed up on the original date, not knowing it was moved (I'm a busy mom with a FT job who doesn't check their recreational email every day :)), I even put on blue eyeshadow bc Norse like bright colors. We drove to the venue and no one was there. In the parking lot was a family of deer. They just looked at us for a while as we went closer and took pictures. I took it as a sign. I'm so excited for 2021. Like my hubs said, 'it would be over if it happened tonight. Now we have a whole year of anticipation'. 🙂❤

The poems (and the song) talks of the dangers of wealth as it causes conflict between kin, as well as the importance of generosity if one wish to gain respect.
