I LOVE both Einar and Gaahl. Everything they’ve done (both together and apart) resonates with my soul! Straight from trelldom, gaahlskagg, gorgoroth, Wardruna, colaborations with Kati Rán, Ivar Bjørnson etc. to Gaahls Wyrd. Thank you so much for letting me be able to fill my inner empty void with beautiful things. This is what makes it tolerable to live in this world

Gaahl has really learned all the runes, believes, practices, and you can tell it is in his spirit from his voice and eyes. They do their best to have their music represent what our ancestors would have sang so long ago, as close as anyone can. I love how they look so closely into the real history to create their music. Not Satanist. This was well before Christians ever came to the North.

I love the dumbasses thinking Wadruna are Satanists. These songs on the albums they put out are themed around the Runes from the Elder Futhark, which was used by the Norse culture back before they had even heard of "God" and "Satan". To them, there was no God and Satan, there was Thor, Odin, Freyja, Loki, etc. Some of them saw power in the Runes that could help them do well in battle, in harvest, travels, fertility, etc. Wardruna is exploring that culture by making music that stays true to each Rune they write about, including hand-made instruments, and the characteristic growling vocals said to have been used by the ancient Vikings. Thor was a slayer of trolls, so some of you should watch out, hah!
@kasperbond751010 жыл бұрын
Dude, Gaahl is satanist.... check out the Vice interview with him

Kasper Bond Wardruna are not, and their music is nothing near Satanic.
@zaphodtrillian10 жыл бұрын
I love how dumb asses who have no culture pretend that they know Norse culture...Wadruna are pure fantasy not even close to an accurate reproduction/ reconstruction of Norse culture. They are a homage, an interpretation a typical post- modernist 'sample'
@Salomon_G10 жыл бұрын
Kasper Bond He said he isn't a Satanist. He is into Norse Shamanism. The Satanist stuff, like most all the black metal guys is just an anti Judeo-Christian statement.

Each song is about a Rune from the Elder Futhark, which was the runic alphabet (kinda) of the Nordic vikings. Each symbol meant something to them and had different parts of their lives associated with it. It sort of became a religion amongst them, and is still practiced today by people like the members of Wardruna. Warduna writes these songs to represent one of the Runes, and goes a great length to be genuine to the meaning of the Rune.

everyone needs to see a recently released film, starring Gaahl, called FLUKT. The film is set about a decade after the Black Death had finished ravaging Norway. Gaahl stars as an outlaw Viking archer, doing what he has to to survive. Just watched it the other day, and there is a particular scene wherein an Odal rune is bestowed that absolutely brought me to tears. A truly excellent piece of film that every fan of Gaahl should watch! Again, the film is called Flukt.
