I think that a latch on the hook of the new Manitou attachment might be a good idea to prevent any trailer attachment from bouncing off the hook.
@JonDingle
@JonDingle 11 ай бұрын
Not needed, its a shunting device for moving trailers in a yard and not for going down the public road. A latch would be an absolute nuisance and waste time. In that yard which is very flat, it is unlikely to bounce off unless the driver did something stupid. And, if it did bounce off, what would it do? The trailer would land on the foot of the drawbar striaght to concrete. Safety idea for the sake of it costing time for no safety reason.

Very interesting that seed treatment. Got to like the German Shepherd watching the process and the Polaris, looks a great bit of kit!

Interesting update, have always like to see seed cleaner/dressers in action. Sure the new shuffler will be earning it's keep for a long time. Good to see the new SP sprayer in use on the wheat.

I think russ was enjoying having his fingers stroked through the barley seed! Used to dread the seed cleaners coming with half of it going into small bags! Slightly disapointed you've not gone for the racing polaris! Terrorising the streets of ledenham with your blacked out goggles and Narla in the passenger seat! Great up date. Thanks Andrew

Good afternoon Andrew. Great videos as always. Looking at your attachment you have fabricated as a seasoned heavy plant engineer and fabricator if the welds are good the bracing and thickness of the steel look thick enough that you will have no problems with that. One thing I would do is paint the frame green and throw hook end yellow or red so it is easy to see it clearly.

Another good video Andrew. Great to see Barry's work on the beck. I like the towing attachment you have made. However, is the hook long enough to go through the towing eyes and could you not put a top plate mechanism on to prevent what you are towing coming unhitched.

The attachment would be better if it had a hydraulic pin powdered by the teleporter, one bump and anything on the hook will jump off!!

@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Have a look for a euro hitch style clevis with a self locking hook. Our JCB TM320s has one on the back. easier than a clevis & pin and much more secure than an open hook

Why not have the "Shuffler" load tested? Tell them the load you anticipate and any good load testing company will sort it.

We had 3 mishaps with 600kg bags busting the lift webbing, possible cause slippage on the fork lift tines, they have a very sharp edge, a full bag just needs to slip a few times & not seen, you usually felt them slip. We did away with flat fork lift tines, I fabricated some forks with round tines out of 3in thick walled tubing with a catcher on the end if they did slip, I well gusseted them against the main lift frame. H&S and farm insurance were well pleased with it, Any thing I fabricated had to pass their criteria of the H&S.
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard 11 ай бұрын
This didn’t tear the webbing, it was about a foot below the webbing, where the tines don’t touch. We’ll look at a bag lifter of some sort.

Great Video Wardy, The things that interested me most included dressing the barley, do you guys not have breeders rights in the UK? and the Nitrogen application, how do the rates of N compare to solid applications? thanks for sharing
@jackiewatson3789
@jackiewatson3789 11 ай бұрын
Breeders rights or royalties depend on the variety. Newer ones attract a larger royalty than older varieties. You have to tell the seed dressing company what variety they are dressing and they add the royalty onto your bill, then twice a year you have to declare to the plant breeding society what you have planted.
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard 11 ай бұрын
Royalties are usually around £40-50÷ ton. The liquid n we use is 30%, AN is 34.5, urea 46%. So in the last video we wanted 100kg/ha N which worked out at 256 litres / ha of product.

@WardysWaffleAndrewWard

We’re done with these. Because of the shallow tread, they don’t damage young sugar beet plants and they are a square profile so there is the full width on the ground.

hi... just wondering why did u buy a petrol utv and not a diesel? we have a diesel gator and its very poor on hills, interested to know what u think of the petrol. thanks
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard 11 ай бұрын
We tried the diesel and it was very sluggish to pick up, noisy and would only do 35 mph tops. With the horrendous A17 to go on all, it’s not good to have artics up your backside all the time! I was doing 58mph on the A17 yesterday! 👌😊

hi, thank you so much for your reply. is the petrol version taxed as agri vehicle and does it need mot? did u consider a suzuki jimny conversion?@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard 11 ай бұрын
@burkeagri718 They can be taxed as either but with Agri tax you can only go a few miles from base which is ok for us. I thought about a Suzuki but couldn’t find a good enough one and we got a ‘KZbin’ deal on a new Polaris so that made up my mind!! 😉

I'm very disappointed that as a professional operator you haven't yet invested in a proper bag lifter attachment for your Manitou. We're peasant scale by comparison but have one that is hydraulically adjustable for seed, fertilizer and jumbo potato bags. It cost 800 quid 14 years ago

@SpudSlingsby
@SpudSlingsby 11 ай бұрын
£2k is absolute buttons for the ease of unloading wagons and knowledge that your bag shifting procedures are as safe as you can make them, particularly with ton bags. New times are too sharp, hence today's mishap.
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard 11 ай бұрын
@SpudSlingsby it wasn’t the tines which did it, the bag tore about a foot below where the loop is, the bags are weaker than they used to be, the Agrii chap Russ said they are getting far more rip now than they used to. All seed dressing companies are saying the same apparently.

Because it’s all been made from a bale squeeze, if it had been cut down, things wouldn’t fitted the same.
