I like your initial assessments of the trailer and the premise of the film. As someone married to an Iraqi, with half Iraqi children, and as a Muslim, the invasion of Iraq is a very sensitive subject for me. My fear with films like this is that they only or mainly focus on the American soldiers and give little to no representation of ‘the locals’. In this case the Iraqi people. If Arabs or Muslims are shown in these movies, it’s only as one dimensional boogeymen and savages. There are little to no depictions of them as unique, complex and interesting human beings. I just hope at least, that this film doesn’t glorify the invasion of Iraq, nor glorify war in general.

From the looks of the trailer, it’ll highlight the tragedy of warfare

Heres hoping since its A24 that theres at least a little nuance to this film. Civil war left me severely disappointed in its lack of commentary on the very subject matter it was tackling

I dunno. Seemed kind of generic to me. But it depicting the story in real time could be interesting.

you don't extend the same grace to the Iraqis civilians and soldiers who fight these invaders and killed in their land? Or these "youngsters" only apply to the Western teenagers? These youngsters were not forced in anyway to go to this war which actually more aptly named as invasion. They chose to be there.
