i see Umbra as a “prime starter” since it can be the first special warframe you can get if you are new and go all out to rank 5 and do the quest. Even so, i believe the death orb thing was necessary to give the “lua brings you strenght” a little funny meaning, since there is a conection between lua and the void, but is still fun to play as umbra and he can give us the feeling of having a “Prime” Excalibur. Umbra is exactly what it means, he is the shadow of Excalibur prime, a moon that can only glow thanks to the sun, Excalibur Prime... But anyway, im rambling so i better stop here, thanks if you took the time to read this.

He was the perfect suit for me and then came umbra with its lore and Passive and maaaaan it doesn't feel like you equip just another wf but in a battle it more feels like a partner. Looking back now, it feels like such a shame that we don’t have more frequent story content. As you can probably tell from my profile picture, I’ve mained Umbra since his release on PS4. And for the first 2,3 months, he still did have that special “not just another Warframe” feeling, that sense that he was an actual character. That being said, fast forward to now and I’ve just recently had to remind myself of how special the frame actually was to me straight after playing the quest. I’ve decided to equip the Sunder helmet to try and remind myself of that, because it’s been so long, I forgot my favourite frame was special.

Haven't obtained umbra yet but I'm excited for the quest :). He's one of the coolest looking frames in the game in my opinion..not overdesigned like some of the other newer frames. I would argue that Vanilla Excal and Excal Prime are better than Umbra. Reason being is that you don’t need 3 umbra polarity spots. Lastly when you cast your 4th ability, go to operator/drifter, and go back to your Warframe… you have to recast your 4th ability. That can kill you in high level missions. Regardless, they’re all good.

The main point of the discussion in the forums was that the founders are unable to equip their exca prime helm on exca umbra and that's a fair thing to ask for because it'll benefit us all when the another umbra is released (even if there's no more umbras, it's something fair to ask as a founder). That was the good part of the discission, and the bad part... well... some founders asked for buffs to prime or nerf to umbra so they can still be "superior" or have the "better" excalibur, which was completely absurd... or saying things like "you can't give your opinion about exca prime if you don't have it" or something like that (these founders were also complaining about the umbra mods, for the same reasons).

well, except when dealing with sentient, Excal prime 's Exalted Blade (EB) is better than Umbral's EB since Prime use Primed Pressure Point while Umbra most likely use the Sacrificial Pressure point (he can use Primed Pressure Point but it would take more forma) althought in Umbra 's case, he might crit more often but it is RNG

Radial Blind Cast time is actually longer for Umbra. I'd argue it's passive is the hugest selling point. Operator is being a more and more useful tool and being able to just freely stay in operator mode while your Warframe continues to work is well, always nice.

There is also the fact that umbra’s ability Radial Howl is a buff to Radial blind because along with the blind it is like the only warframe with an ability to strip sentients’ resistances with out having to go operator mode. Plus the sentience while in operator mode is awesome.

Umbra has Radial Howl which not only does what RB does but it also sheds any resistances that sentiments have built up, so you dont have to go into operator to remove them. You also already stated that they are different in the sense that Umbra has a bonus to his passive (being able to fight while you're in operator mode) and prime's "bonus" passive is the energy from death orbs.

Agreed. My sentiments felt the same with what similar stats the upgraded Excals have, albeit Umbra had it better, what with his 2nd's unique properties. (Trying to avoid spoilers.) This meant players could have their upgrade, it was better developed and was unique, rather than being a "I've been here for a long time" trophy. ...To be honest, given what Umbra is and how he performs better, he has likely became one of my mains, especially with the special mods and his anti-sentient capabitilites. I still wish Umbra kept his Death orb hidden trait, it didn't make much a difference but its handy when roaming around high-tier orokin void missions. Glad you made this video illustrating this topic... ... ... Though I wonder if the other prime excal players who might still have a problem with this are okay with umbra, trying to believe their Prime excal was worth it, or are prepping a lawsuit anyway.

Perhaps next time, DE will make a quality of a particular frame or weapon that wasn't somewhat essential to the game (depending on the player), then Umbra wouldn't be a necessity in some sense (albeit I'll take Umbra over Excal Prime still, and hope he never gets removed. Too bad his anti-sentient abilities don't seem to do much against Eidolons... I think.) Like... I dunno... Lotus Excalibur? It'd be wholely out of the way and a Prime Excal wouldn't needed to be exclusive to founders... In my opinion.

Umbra has a sentient ability that Excalibur Prime does not posess. Additionally, Umbra has his own unique polarities that offer Strength, Health, and Armor. Excalibur Prime doesn't have these Umbral Polarities. Excalibur Umbra has radial howl which nullifies the sentients resistance. Excalibur Prime doesn't have that either. Excalibur Umbra looks great with awesome gold plating that is all over his body along with his scarf. Excalibur Prime has a gold key stuck to his forehead. Founder's saltiness level: 100% Rage

I don't know if they changed this, but originally in operator mode, Prime did the usual stand there like an idiot, and Umbra attacked. The problem (like I said I am not sure if this still happens) was that Umbra could be damaged while Prime was invincible. So some of the operator hacks didn't work as well with Umbra. Prime's design isn't interesting either. I usually use the Proto-excal skin with prime head when using Prime, just to use him so I feel like I got SOMETHING for being an early founder.

I just learned today that if you perform a melee finisher with Excal Umbra you are stealthed for about 5 seconds, broken on an attack or activity. So after howling not only do you do significantly insanely high levels of damage you also get free stealth. I found it kind of fitting, reminded me of when Excal had a jump that made him cloak.

I really do liek how DE handled Umbra personally, it's a way for people like me who never had the chance to get excal prime but at the same time not devaluing him. The two are literally the same stat wise with the only difference being looks, a slightly altered passive, and a slightly altered 2. Although, even though I don't have him I do kinda wish players had the ability to put his head on umbra since its a small thing that would really go a long way.

Excalibro was my first Warframe. I had accepted that he'd never get a prime and was completely okay with it. I'll probably still keep the original as he was still my first and will always have a place in my armory. Hell, I'll probably still dust him off from time to time. So Umbra was a happy surprise for me. The story - I didn't expect it to be that good. But once again, DE has proven why Warframe never gets uninstalled and I keep coming back.

umbra is better than excal prime for 1 reason: it functions as a specter during operator mode, and if it loses it's health, it just reverts to the standard deactivation state that other frames use, with the vitality and shield values from when you activated operator mode being fully retained upon re-transference. Some may say this is a traeoff for the death orb boon, but that is exclusive to void maps and possibly Lua, though I cant recall. Specter Mode is useful everywhere for increased DPS when you need to use operator, like during Kuva Floods.

They've already said they're gonna make more Umbra but I doubt that it'll be more than 8. At most I see them doing an Umbra Variant of the starter frames and maybe a couple more if they think it's possible. Plus, I think they mentioned in a devstream how new Umbras wouldn't have the same amount of lore as Umbra Excal if they even have any. I don't really see a huge point in adding more if that's the case. We can already forma Umbral mods and Umbra Frames will at most have one different-ish skill with the spectre passive. If they won't have a lot of lore or any lore then it'll feel meh and it'll disappoint anyone that's hyped for some Umbra/Warframe lore.

I honestly wish there were a bit more differences between Umbra and Primes. Not in the stats department but in the skills. Radial Howl is a cool remix of Radial Blind but I wish that concept would have extended to a few other skills. Like Radial Javelin could have been Radial Blade and instead of making swords shoot out towards enemies, it could have made blade waves shoot out instead. Slash Dash could have been Thrust Dash. Small little tweaks like that. Whatever the next Umbra frame is, I hope they get more remixed skills.

I'm just happy I can upgrade my Excal as a filthy console pesant. I never wanted Excal Prime. That was for the founders, the ones who took the risk, and invested. And to you gents go the spoils! The prime aesthetic, the trophy that screams, "I've been here on PC from the start!" Excal Prime is still very much special, don't misunderstand. However as an Ash main who has always wanted to play Excal but couldn't get over the hurdle in my head he'd never have an upgrade for me to work up to, I can finally change to Excalibur! The death orb energy sucks. But if it helps Prime owners not feel so gyped, then thats fine. Having Ash and being able to move up to Ash Prime, or having Harrow knowing Harrow Prime will come out eventually was nice and allowed me to play those Frames. But Umbra is finally that upgrade I wanted without taking the Prime version. And as the creator of the video said, Umbra feels like a character. From a lore/story position it feels like I'm meant to play Umbra. In my personal opinion Umbra should replace vanilla excal as mascot of the game.

Instead of introducing more Umbral Frames to the game, I think DE should add a chance to find pieces of dead Umbras during Lua missions that allow you to make Augments, skins, animation sets, and armor for preexisting frames that allow them to look and feel like Umbral Frames without having to dedicate a new story for each one.

Satirical Xeno honestly I think Excalibur prime is overrated, the radial howl duration has been fixed and it is quite clear to me at least that The reaper Hunter is salty and nitpicking things about the umbra frame. The ability to turn umbra into a specter can be broken when used with proper weapons and it can decimate endgame enemies.

Well excalibur prime was more of an trophy to the founders it wasnt about founders having a better version of excal it was more about founders having something only exclusive to them and them only regardless of the stats.
