This is really cool - i like the star ratings and in depth analysis. Would love to see videos like this for non-elven factions. Me and my buddy have limited time to play and play Co-op exclusively, so wh en a patch comes we're constantly restarting. Would love to hear some of your thoughts about factions like Bretonnia, Lizards, and quite frankly all the rest.

This video concluded the WE series. Just releasing some beginner guides before venturing into the other races. The depth needed usually means smashing a single race to work out the advanced tactics, so I tend to focus on one at a time while the knowledge is still hot. Cheers again for the support, hoping to deliver.

Well done! I enjoyed the outline of the challenge with this campaign and the unique play of a Wood elf faction that doesn't favor Wood Elves as it were. I find it fascinating how CA has evolved this game to provide such diverse experiences within factions. It's incredible to consider how much this enhances replay ability of the game. The diplomacy situation is very challenging early on. You described it very well. I noticed you gave it a 3 star rating. Have you ever given a rating below that in a review? I know you use a 1-5 star scale, but I would be curious if there was an example of a 2 star for instance in your experience in a category. The one concern that I'd like to hear more about is army replenishment. I find that when I play melee focused armies, they tend to get battered over the course of several battles even if I am winning the battles. As a HE main, I really make an effort to keep army health up due to martial prowess in particular. So, the proposal of spirit based melee armies is cool, but out of my comfort zone for sure. I also find myself wanting to add glade guard units when you talk about filling out the armies for Drycha. It's hard to let go of that ranged goodness. Do Dyrcha's abilities in time resolve army health concerns? Or is there a constant need to rest and summon? It would be fun to see you do a breakdown on how to fight with the spirit based army (maybe part of a Drycha first 20 turn video?) that could withstand campaign grind early on. Thank you for your hard work! Keep lighting the way!

Appreciate the comment. I've given 2.5 stars as the lowest ever. I'm sure I'll find 2 stars, but this rating system came out with consistently sensible scores when 3 Stars = fine/servicable. The game is balanced so very few things are ever 'just' passable. Drycha just keeps her head above water with this one haha. Defensive armies, like HE, function well on the map by depleting ammo instead of bodies and have good shield formations to reduce loss even further. As long as you have replenishment heroes, melee does *much* better now, even more now we don't have to fight endless settlement battles. A commonly overlooked tactic is to use Earthblood on treekin and other monstrous infantry/cavalry when you have spare winds, late in battle. Don't spam it, but keeping it in the back of your mind can stop you losing bodies. I'd still bring 4 glade guard for that damage saturation, but if you invest the amber/research, points and Aspecs you could certainly go all trees/beasts in Drycha's army. She has access to more powerful magic and the Dryad summon is a great disruption/charge setup. A wall of Dryads and Treekin to form your line and using a handful of spirits to act as cavalry is the best way to close the gap. 20% physical resistance and her skills make them bite, and if they start to wane, she gets a buffed up version of the strongest unit in the entire roster :)

@@ElvenPlotArmour it has been pretty fun! Wiped out Kislev, Azhag, and Thorgrim to alleviate pressure on our eastern front and gave the territories to Vlad and completed the ritual, working on taking Athel Loren like you described, it's fun playing evil WE though and just leaning into that heh.

@@youtubedeletedmynamewhybother heh I normally like to do that with Durthu, it's my Old World Tree-ty Organization (OWTO) playthrough strategy where I actively go about the map occupying and giving territories to my ordertide buddies. It's pretty fun to get to pick an ally to partner up with and have them shelter your trees, I am considering doing so with the Sisters of Twilight and Malekith next.

@@bill_the_butcher I thought it would be unique to have a wood elf/vampire count alliance since you become immune to vampiric attrition after doing the first ritual of rebirth and getting the special building. I thought it would be pretty thematic too since drycha has a bunch of malevolent tree spirits
@planomathandscience Жыл бұрын
Finished three Drycha Legendary campaigns already. Never build elves. Use waystalkers for assassins, use glade captains and branchwraiths to enhance melee. Sit in any trees you can find and force the enemy to fight you there. Once they're at the edge, wild beasts come around and hit from behind. You can only confederate Durthu, so it'll take brute force to win. Side with the Empire, annihilate the Vampires, build a massive Defensive Alliance. Win.

Great point - sadly, in my testing it was still buggy. I can guarantee it's on CA's priority of bugs and will be cleared next hotfix, if not the following one. I actually can't remember at this exact moment, sorry. If the faction leader is an Ancient Treeman, I'd say "yes", it's an elf, then her anti-elf policy will decide for her. If anyone can answer this, in the meantime, please do!

I don't agree with giving Sisters higher "stars" in every catagory as Drycha except for military. For example, Drycha's economy is so staggeringly good that even suggesting Sisters has even better economy is suspect. For example, I've easily stashed a pool of gold upwards of 100,000+ gold by turn 30-40 : which is on top of a full upgraded army. It only gets more insane from here, as Tree Spirits can get so absurdly cheap to build by late game that one can easily run around with entire doomstacks of Treemen that cost ~500 upkeep per turn. That's a 19 Treemen doomstack for ~500 gold upkeep TOTAL, not individual. Anyone interested to know how can message me, or do some research into the stacking Tree Spirit upkeep reductions. I also disagree with giving Sisters a higher "strategy" rating, which consists of "campaign abilities, performance/progression, map control, and faction bonuses." Is there a reason why Drycha can survive being completely surrounded by hostile factions and have relatively poor diplomacy on top of that: staggering military might, extremely good economy, and "strategy." Her campaign abilities, such as recruiting animals from the woods and having expendable elf fodder units; performance/progression, which is hands down the strongest of the wood elven factions (late game Tree Spirit armies are terrifyingly powerful, especially with her unique Amber techs); and superb faction bonuses (you can stack her factionwide upkeep reduction with other mapwide upkeep reductions to make Dryads, Treekin, and Treemen literally free to buy and have laughably minute upkeep, giving you enough gold to buy literally whatever you want). I'm not attacking you, your opinion, or Sisters of Twilight. I love all the Wood Elves. But to indirectly suggest that Sisters have an overall more powerful game than Wargrove of Woe -- especially in the late game, and/or over the course of a full world domination campaign -- is inaccurate. That being said, I do love your videos, and I appreciate your passion and effort. Thanks for caring enough to create content. I respect your views, and I wouldn't lower Sisters score so much as raise Drycha's scores -- Sisters are beasts in their own right.

@@bigsuirlife3623 Having a few with melee defense to hold the line is always well spent. Having 1 on each flank with speed can be fun to use as a flanking unit, though this is arguably best done with wild units. When in doubt, melee defense is never a bad choice - no such thing as too high :)
