Do you give all memebers of a squad the same number or numbers 1-5, for instance?
@GrimDarkNarrator2 жыл бұрын
Different numbers, if you want.
@mackenzieblair81352 жыл бұрын
The number denotes which squad they’re in. If they’re in the same squad they should have the same number.

I dont get what marking actually represent a Captain. I've seen an image showing Raven Guard Captain shoulder pad showing a golden skull on a winged shield as the captain. And I've seen the same olden skull on a winged shield for an Ultramarine Commander (is a commander just another name for Capain for Space Marines?) But the only thing I can find in common for most of the Captain models is a skull and laurel. The Primaris Captain, Phobos Captain, Lord Executioner, Generic Captain, Captain Sicarius, Deathwatch Terminator Captain and Captain Lysander all have a skull and laurel (though Lord Executioner and Deathwatch Terminator Captain have the skull and laurel serperate) Captain Uriel Ventris and Watch Captain Artemis seem to be the only ones with no laurel anywhere. Watch Captain Artemis actually has a Skull with a Halo on his shin, Which I thought was represented a Lieutenant.

Different chapters can have unique markings.
@charleshowie20743 жыл бұрын
My understanding/interpretation beyond the obvious different chapters can have unique markings is that the skull signifies belonging to the Command so is borne by all codex compliant officers. I've seen GW materials showing particular helment markings (red stripe containing a white stripe) for Lieutenants but nothing specific for ranks beyond belonging to a Company's Command Staff on the shoulder. Usually the halo iconography on power armour denotes the wearer is equiped with an Iron Halo.

GDN, I am currently trying to create some lore for my Homebrew Astartes Chapter and personal board army. Can you help? I have a couple good ideas of how I want it to be but am unsure of how to work it, in a way that would make sense. And don't want to tread on any shoes if this has already been done. My army: My actual board army consists of some 150 marines, including unique custom units, vehicles, squads, and figures from various chapters ncluding blood and dark angels, wolves, ultras, templars, fists, even a couple ravenguard etc. I want to explain this in the lore but not at all be seen as a deathwatch ripoff. My idea in breif: They are completely none codex compliant and I wish to restructure the entire chapter and its ranking system adding more depth to them and their traditions. Basing their structure on the Free-Mason society of degrees. The reason is because I enjoy roleplay games like Rogue Trader, Wrath and Glory and the concept of ongoing story based kill team games. So I want to base my chapter around "characters" and their individual achievements. They are the lone Marine blocking the doorway to the heretic, the single angel that fell from the sky to rescue the feral world town from a horrific demon. The Astartes that recovered the gene-seed all others had deemed lost, or discovered that ancient stc. (Charting the far reaches of space with an unikely group of companions.) My issue comes with explaining their mismatch armour, new squads, (like a teleporting lighningclaw sternguard squad) and custom vehicles. I would like them to be a loyalist chapter if possible but I'm happy if the lore requires them to be rouge, working for themselves. Without boring you further yet, please let me know your opinion of this and if I can bounce ideas off you. You can email me via my channel email if you wish not to do it in a comment section.
@GrimDarkNarrator4 жыл бұрын
I would say having them as renegade loyalists provides more opportunity to implement the ideas you have. You can always say they are scavengers of some kind, gathering anything and everything, and adopting it into their fighting styles and armories. Codex compliant ones can't really do that, unless they're already on the fringes of ideology. You could also make them a "specialist" chapter with unique privileges like the Minotaurs or Exorcists or even the Deathwatch. Except in your case, their specialty would be the themes you suggested. You can email me if you'd like further replies :)

@@GrimDarkNarrator Thanks man, don't worry i won't hound you constantly. I will send you an email a little later, just to confirm contact. Plus a few cool pics I know you will enjoy.... eg. a landspeeder whirlwind made from an in-car mobile phone charger. Sounds crap I know, but it worked so well, I've had people ask where they can get one..... they can't. haha. My plan is to create a channel to display my little force and give the characters and vehicles some story. A fanfic chapter channel.
