Steve! My favorite 40k in 40m episodes are when you play! Im a relatively beginner player with limited models, but im thinking to buy baldeguard veterans for my elite edition primaris captain, think they can effective together. Had a few 500-700 pont games, lost all the matches, but will practice more and dont give up.

Haven’t really heard anyone mention this yet, but I’m very excited to try The Honor Vehement enhancement on my Bladeguard captain and putting him with a blob of 6 bladeguards and an ancient. For the cost of 10 pts, 1CP, finest hour and assault doctrine you can get the captain alone to 11A S7 AP-3 D2 with lance AND devastating wounds. Maybe I’m missing something and things don’t stack that way, but it seems incredibly fun if possible

The one I'm liking the look of is an eliminatior squad with librarian in Phobos armour. A nice unit shooting precision at character models ignoring their attached units, options to move after shooting to keep stealth advantages, devastating hits, librarian giving them feel no pain against physic attack and adding bolter discipline for sustained hits 5+criticals? Considering how much attaching characters to units is a thing in this edition the ability to have a unit specifically built to tackle those threats shouldn't be overlooked.

Yeah, I ran this. On paper, I think one, it is not worth giving the librarian the bolter discipline, when you can give that to someone leading 10 models with far more volume shots. Two, the model shoot move shoot, is cool, but moving negates their other advantage of standing still with heavies and the devastating wounds. Instead, just consider for cheaper, taking a 10 model scout sniper unit, who are also infiltrators, contains 20 wounds for the unit, and has far more volume of shots - plus a missile launcher with the same 12 inch rule without needing a phobos librarian.

Oh forgot to mention, I ran this, and while it was cool to have a unit that the enemy feared somewhat, a single scarab explosion killed all three eliminators after being charged. It was against necrons (obviously) and precision shots on the leader I tried, wound wise, was just healed. I think the sniper scouts are gonna be better, but I am testing this out tomorrow.

Great Ideas. I am SW player. Heres my 5 cents. Everyone probably already know it tho. Judicier and BGV. Fight first. DA Judicier would have 3 Damage swings. Ventris and deepstriking almost whatever you want. lysander and termis. Simple thing hard brick of bad boys.

I think the Phobos Lt actually has play with Reivers with Grav-chutes this edition... Jump down, shoot, move closer, short charge, and use Precision hits to assassinate attached Leaders...! But if I find my Incursor unit being targeted to remove the shooting buff I will definitely consider attaching a Phobo Lt!

primaris techmarine paired up with redemptor or new brutalis dreads is really good, techmarine cannot be targeted until the dread is brought down ands gives +1 to hit buff on top of repairs, I would definitely run this with brutalis for Templars or Blood angels because even when the melee nightmare brutalis is brought down the techmarine has the new ability vengeance of the omnisiah that makes him scary in melee as well for a little extra meme.

I absolutely LOVE 10th edition so far from what I've seen. I have ALOT of infantry for space marines at the moment and a couple of dreadnaughts (with a leviathan boxset on the way), would you guys say that a mainly infantry army is viable? and what tank would you recommend.

I gotta fluffy idea: The way the rules are written you can attach servitors to either a techmarine on thier own OR to the unit the techmarine is leading, pair this with a dread (personally I prefer index contemptor to farm vengeance of the omnissiah) equipped with a multi melta, give the gun servitors multi meltas (firing at bs 3+ due to tekkie), and lastly give the tac squad a meltagun and mult melta. This leave you with a unit that can absolutely demolish elite infantry at both (close) range and close quarters combat (sarge gets fist) for about 400-500 pts. Is it overpriced? Yes Is it thematic? Yes Is is versitle due to firstborn flexibility regarding wargear? Hell Yes! (Feel free to steal! Long live the old marines!)

Playing salamander successor, im feeling like an incursor squad or two is gonna be key for getting my meltas to hit. I play like an Salaman-fist play style. Hammerfall and firestrikes with hella gravis. (Rp purposes no firstborn units) Anyways incursors feel like an autoinclude for me

Another option for the company heroes is to call yourself Black Templars and put HM Helbrecht in there. His sword is amazing, he gives +1 strength and +5 critical hits to any unit that he leads.

I'm very much looking forward to pairing a Deathwing Strikemaster with a normal DW squad. Up to 32-40 (not sure if Strikemaster gets the buff too) lethal hits and +1 to hit and wound rolls when the target unit is below half strength. Definitely helps counter the low damage output of storm bolters and low hit count for the power fists. I'm gonna have to get a librarian for my Spearhead now.

I pair: a Tech-Marine (with Servitors because they're cool!) beside a Whirlwind, Incursors beside TWO Invictor battlesuits, a Librarian and Apothicary with Hellblasters. Desolators are just too dang fugly, and plasma looks great. Bolter discipline goes on the Gravis Captain with a squad of Aggressors. Please comment because I'm re-learning the game after a long hiatus.

Steve: the Phobos Lt. Shoot and fade is D6” movement not a set 6”. So folks will have to be careful popping out of cover because if they go to far might not get back in.

Yup, you're totally right. I think that taking a unit directly through a wall and then back through it will be, on average, very doable. However, the point absolutely stands. There is a chance that you roll low and don't fully escape.

I've already got the Lieutenant and Incursors in my list, what do you think about having a phobos librarian with some eliminators to give them stealth so they can't be shot within 12" and give them bolter dicipline for 195 points or just take 2 scout squads for 150?

ive been thinking about using the following combination phobost captain for its master of deciet ability add it to a squad of 5 or mabe 10 Rievers for there terror troops 6" aura then add a Lieutenant in riever armour not only do you get tactical precision ability but more importantly your terror troops aura abilites range increases by +3" making ot 9" in total. Terror troops auara forces enemy units during the charge phase to make a battleshock test at -1 to the roll or become battle shocked, No objective control value . In addition i am thinkning of adding a culexus assassin which adds the souless horror 6" aura which worsens the enemies leadership by 1 or 2 for psykers it also applies to any enemy unit in range during the command phase. Normally you would be taking battleshock tests in the command phase, with this combo your making battleshock tests in the fight phase and finally by taking certain units you can add battleshock tests in the shooting phase which gives you three chances to battle shock your opponent preventing them from scoring valuable points.

Here's a combo. Use storm speed hailstrike hit one time on oath of moments target that gives all attacks after plus 1 ap the. Use incursors next then that makes it plus 1 to hit plus one ap. Then boom all additional will be plus 1 ap and 1 to hit. Full rerolls and with twin link stuff for the big guys like a knight will give you wound rerolls on the d6 damage weapons.

Black Templars have a combo concerning the Gravis Captain, Biologis Apothecary and a 6 man squad of Aggressors. Select the "Accept Any Challenge..." vow as your templar vow. Take the gravis captain and put Sigismunds Seal on him, then put him in a squad of 6 Aggressors. Then put the Biologis Apothecary with the Gravis Captain. You're now getting Lethal and Sustained hits on 5+ on a unit that churns out ridiculous amounts of firepower (twin-linked) which get AP boosts once you fire on the closest enemy. A pretty good combo, I'd say.

STEEVE!! Never knew you had a channel, I instantly subbed. Your crimson fists matches actually swayed me to making them my first army all those months ago. Speaking of fists, I have a very nasty pedro mortal wound bomb. Which it really is his only viable choice but it's still nasty. Pedro, ancient/apothecary with bolter discipline, blob of sternguard in a repulsor for that sweet movement and climb back into vehicle if they're charged. 3 shots each at rapid fire range with sustained hits against an oath target doing mortals on 4s to wound and then doing it again to another infantry squad after you absolutely wipe out that scary 10 man terminator brick. Regular bikers with grav guns and a bike chaplain give you almost guaranteed 10 mortals on a vehicle for 160pts too. That's all from me. Love you man. Play on

Let's see some more first born focused armies. Seems like the first born stuff got hit a little harder by the free wargear/lack of unit size options. Cannot get the battle company into 2k really. Maybe a Demi company with a little spam free classic support from the 1st and 10th companies. Sternguard are still first born in my mind.

I believe the entire command Squad does not have the character key word. However, it does mean that, in my example, once the chaplain dies, he's dead for good

I saw Space Marine Steve's combo video on Hyperspace Hobbies and noticed this spiral of chaotic thoughts and need your take on it. I read the core rules and unless it is somewhere else written I can't find anything that says this is not possible. I think that this combo allows for a unit of crushing armies. or at least wiping a portion of the table clean. I think I found a way for a 14 Dark Angel Space Marine Squad that is too overpowered. A full 10-man Infernus Squad + Azrael + Primaris Lieutenant + Primaris Apothecary + Primaris Ancient. I am not sure if Apothecary and ancient can be on same unit, but the Lieutenant and Chapter Master can along with at least one of the two in question. But I can’t find anything to say otherwise. Primaris Lieutenant's note on index reads," You can attach this model to one of the above units even if one Captain or Chapter Master model has already been attached to it." And both the Primaris Ancient and Apothecary reads," You can attach this model to one of the above units even if one Captain, Chapter Master or Lieutenant model has already been attached to it." When I read this on each index, I noticed why not ask to see if there is anything saying that it is not possible and get other thoughts. The benefits of this one unit, if possible, is as follows: From Azrael: Supreme Grand Master: While this model is leading a unit, weapons equipped by models in that unit have the [SUSTAINED HITS 1] ability. Masterful Tactician: At the start of your Command phase, if this model is on the battlefield, you gain 1CP. The Lion Helm: Models in the bearer’s unit have a 4+ invulnerable save. In addition, once per battle, at any time, the bearer can summon a Watcher in the Dark. When it does, until the end of the phase, models in the bearer’s unit have the Feel No Pain 4+ ability against mortal wounds. From the Infernus Squad: Purge the Foe: In your Shooting phase, after this unit has shot, you can select one enemy Infantry unit hit by one or more of those attacks made with a pyreblaster. That enemy unit must take a Battle-shock test. And their weapons ignore cover and is torrent weapons. From the Primaris Lieutenant: Tactical Precision: While this model is leading a unit, weapons equipped by models in that unit have the [LETHAL HITS] ability. Target Priority: This model’s unit is eligible to shoot and declare a charge in a turn in which it Fell Back. From Primaris Apothecary: Narthecium: While this model is leading a unit, in your Command phase, you can return 1 destroyed model (excluding Character models) to that unit. Gene-seed Recovery: When this model’s Bodyguard unit is destroyed, roll one D6: on a 2+, you gain 1CP. From Primaris Ancient: Astartes Banner: While this model is leading a unit, add 1 to the Objective Control characteristic of models in that unit. Unbreakable Duty: While this model is within range of an objective marker and/or within 6" of center of the battlefield, this model has the Feel No Pain 4+ ability.

Hmmm, the infernus squad can't be affected by lethal hits or sustained hits 'cos you don't actually roll 'to hit', you just roll for a number of attacks. So it's a meaningless combination...
