It's easy to take it the wrong way of course, but an infection of any sort can only take root if it has something to do so in, and when dealing with an enemy whose most dangerous weapon is subversion, this is doubly true. Tolerance, after all, does not necessarily mean in the "everybody holds hands and gets along despite their differences" way. For a rather extreme example that isn't pop-culture related, the Roman kings before they transitioned into a Republic (and well before they transitioned into a hegemonic empire) are known to have gotten pretty awful towards the end, because the people for lack of a better word tolerated the degradation. This came to a head with Tarquinius, who was so debased that he turned his own armies against him and put such an aftertaste in the mouths of the Roman citizenry that they blatantly refused to have a king, ever again (after all, even when absolute power centralized again, they had an Imperator, instead).

The thing about this topic that floors me is that the core audience of this type of gaming/hobby are probably a bunch of dudes who'd argue about which serial number of paint is most accurate to the lore. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if there's an entire thread over the likely steel alloy used to make the mech suits. This is a nerd hobby for nerds who both love and argue over every minute detail in the 40k universe. My grandpa had his own nerd hobby of model trains and was obsessive on accuracy over the trim on his model engines and trolleys, keeping his landscape to scale of his trains, and having the tracks/stations work just like real life. His collection was worth 6 figures when he passed away. Why would you flip off your big spenders by retconning established details? If the hobby train companies retconned Japanese electric engines into the Union Pacific models, there'd be hell to pay. Who's gonna keep dumping money into a company that doesn't respects its core audience?

easy answer, and it's the same answer to this question every time. board room politics, and investors. the people making these decisions don't even know what the hobby is most of the time, like we see with video games. they finance it and expect a bigger ROI and demand the company do whatever it can to meet that quota. they don't give a damn about the IP, it's just a tool to take people's money. they don't care if they kill the goose for the eggs as it's all short term profits focusing on the next few quarters.

The old guard's crumbling and now there's room for new developers to innovate and connect directly to gamers again - be it tabletop or digital. 6:00 Isn't Ciri kind of a very special case though? For example, in Witcher 3, there was an ending where Ciri DOES become a Witcher. I am not very knowledgeable about Witcher lore, but i I believe there has never been a case of a Witcher with Elder Blood, so there is some suspense of disbelief when it comes to Ciri becoming a Witcher since we don't know exactly how Elder Blood could interact with the Witcher serum.

In the books there was a scene where in order to make Ciri a dryad she was given a Brooklyn water which is a highly toxic and hallucinogenic potion, she drinks that and thanks to elder blood she was totally unaffected by it and that stuff can kill Witcher another scene (but take that with a grain of salt, as I cannot remember clearly) is in ker morgen where vessemir is trying to give her some mutagens (but this isn't a trial of grass which basically makes you a Witcher) and also in that case she is totally unaffected by that. Case and point thanks to elder blood she is immune to all poison even to that that makes you mutate. But aside that there is more issues with that as for example she is to old to transform into Witcher or that there is no one that knows how to make Witcher anymore, the last person that knew the process was vessemir, well there is a yenefer who claims that she could probably recreate process but A. I personally doubt it that she has the ability and B. she also mentions that she won't even try because she considers the process to be too brutal and cruel and now imagine her allowing her Ciri to undergo that especially that she considers Ciri to be her daughter. Aside all of that there wasn't any Witcher with elder blood the only special Witcher we met is a main protagonist Geralt who went through even more dangerous transformation in order to became even stronger version of Witcher. And when it comes to the ending where she becomes a Witcher, it doesn't mean that she went through a transformation to become a Witcher or more specifically she became a monster hunter, a honorary Witcher which itself isn't unusual in the books and game we get to know many monsters hunters who aren't Witcher and in the Witcher 1 we met up Leo a master swordsmen who is a Witcher although he didn't undergo Witcher transformation.

You mentioned Ceri. To be fair, Siri is obviously a special case. Furthermore, there is nothing that says that only men can survive the trial of the grasses. In the books Ciri is described as a witcher (lacking the mutations obviously). In the lore, the mage figuring out the process for the trial tested it on both men and women but noticed that women deteriorated and died quicker, so he continued exclusively testing on men. That's where the belief comes from in the lore.

The thing about Ciri, yes it's against canon, but it's also the least interest ending to follow up. Imagine if the sequel has her exploring her natural powers while ruling over Nilfgaard. I have a rule with all this stuff, I give them a 3 year ban from my money. I don't buy a lot of things anymore and to be honest my way of life has only gone up because of it... I don't use razors for shaving anymore I got a cut throat from a local knife maker and learnt how to use it. I don't waste money on razors now. I don't buy house cleaning products that make men out to be idiots, so now I buy bulk commercial cleaning products, which are both cheaper and better and also dont hurt your skin like the domestic ones do. Games have been the same, I've been playing a lot of older game that are fun in ways modern games aren't. Ive spent very little on games even though they are getting more expensive i actually have more left over in my entertainment budget.

Why do this? The sisters of silence and sisters of battle both exist. Just use a silent sister for whatever female centered throne guarding story or thing you want. Maybe further expanded on their lore and their experiences. Which will be much more interesting than a gender non lore accurate story or figure. Making females custodes doesn't help anyone or anything. It just takes away from the lore and actual present female characters who could use the attention.
