Holy crap, kudos for the SOMA reference. Also, that game was trippy and freaky and legitimately spooked me out.

Ash was super salty in this one! "I better win for surprise attack...(Owen rolls a 12) ... fuck off.."

A couple of errors that stand out: Battle focus only lets you shoot "small arms" and not heavy weapons such as on the wraithlords. There is no "within 1 in" rule for melee in apoc. You have to get in base to base, so the wraithknight could not have made his turn 1 charge. His planes are -1 to hit while supersonic. You hit on a "3" with the dire avengers. 5 man wraithguard only have 1 attack and not 2 (you were rolling 4 wound rolls for them) Being critically injured means you have half attacks and heavy weapons are -1 to hit. You had the plane fire at full attacks but -1 to hit on all weapons You were stating the rules for "out of command" tokens incorrectly. You hand them out at the start of the turn, and they kill you before you roll for damage in the damage phase. They are removed in the action phase. Other than that, an enjoyable vid! Love Apoc!

I feel like craftworld eldar too often look a little silly but not these guys. They look badass.

Few mistakes I noticed. Eldar cannot assault and fire heavy weapons, eg what the wraithlords did that first turn. They can only assault and fire small arms. Also you missed the supersonic rule on the flyers a few times. They still get minus one to hit.

Also missed the rule that aircraft can’t control an objective. Turn one the eldar would have controlled the objective.

How do you think thingswould play out using this system if you alternated activating units rather than detachments? I.e.: play a normal 40k sized game but use Apoc rules with a slight tweak? Are there weird intricacies or emergent stuff that would make it a bad idea?
@itcamefromthedeep5 жыл бұрын
The activation bid would get weirder. You'd have players bringing 6 or 7 or more 1-power units like Crusaders so that they have the option to make the opponent move their entire army first and then respond with your whole army. When you have a big disparity in the number of units it can turn into a fiddly IGOUGO. Also, when a character can't move at the same time as the unit beside them it becomes a lot easier to snipe them out. Imagine that you had to move your screening unit first, then your opponent could respond by assaulting the character you left behind.

@@itcamefromthedeep To a degree you can already do that with loads of tiny detachments. 2 1pt characters (astropaths) and 3 3pt conscript units (for the extra wounds so they hang around longer) is 11pts an activation. But yeah, would need to look at controlling activation counts to stop it spiralling out of control as written. Other games deal with activation advantage in other ways but Apoc doesn't so would need to introduce something to manage it.
@itcamefromthedeep5 жыл бұрын
@@sirbobulous Yes, you can do cheap activations now, but going unit by unit magnifies the problem. In apoc you don't have mandatory HQs in detachments, so for example Guard can do 3 units of 2 Crusaders at 1 Power each, giving you 3 points for an activation. With Guard you'd want to add in a platoon/company commander so that you can draw one card for a Warlord and one card for the Officer ability, so 5 Power gives you an activation and two card draws. We can call it the Magnificent 7, as compared to 40k's Loyal 32. So 75 Power of models can let you draw your whole deck each turn if you really want that. If past is prologue I could see event organizers capping the number of detachments in an army. I would actually prefer to see an import from Epic 40,000 from back in the day, where each detachment had to pay points for the commander. Having players pay 2 Power per detachment or something like that would organically discourage the activation race.
