Ulgu is also the wind of justice, hierarchy, politics, spycraft, and treachery btw. It is strong in places of political power.

'To draw upon more than one of the colours of sorcery increased the risk of allowing too much Chaotic power to build within the wizard’s body...' 'Rudol had seen what could happen if a wizard allowed too much magic to gather in his blood. The lucky ones would die, exploding in a brilliant blaze of light or simply dropping as though pole-axed by an ogre. There were others who survived such things, their bodies consumed and degenerated by the awesome energies that had run rampant through their systems. Spawn they called them, living manifestations of the dread force that was father to all magic: Chaos...' My fav winds are Aqshy and Ulgu. One of the first novels form the Warhammer universe I ever read was Magestorm, about renegade Battle-Wizard Gerhart Brennend a fire mage of the Bright order, holder of the keys of Azimuth.

Ghur isn´t pronounced "gur" it´s pronounced "grrrr" like a growl, which is pretty fitting for the wind of beasts.
@GrimDarkNarrator5 жыл бұрын
That actually makes a lot of sense. I hope I don't forget when I talk about it again.

the RPG game of Warhammer fantasy is funny when it comes to the magic, Gold one for example at the end you are a Golden statue.

Gosh that doesn't sound fun to play as a class though, but I think seeing how far you can get is more of the draw I take it?

Now this will be an awesome series for you to cover. If its not beyond what you can do would you be able to expand the series into dark, high, greenskin, vampire and kislev ice magic as well?
@GrimDarkNarrator5 жыл бұрын
If there's bits of lore on it, I can definitely talk about those too.

I know I am 3 years late, but I think the race specific lores should also have a video. At least the Elven ones because you have the High Magic which is said to focus on its entirety unlike the mortal humans which can only focus on a single wind, I see you also have the Dark Magic which is supposed to be the opposite of High Magic.
@Brutalyte616 Жыл бұрын
...Eh, that doesn't really work out too well. High Magic isn't technically exclusive to the High Elves, although outside of the dragons of Cathay and their descendants, there aren't many races that can reliably learn all eight Winds of Magic and use them properly without turning it into Dhar, although you DO occasionally hear about a human mage that could use High Magic, and in older lore the Empire actually had a Rainbow College dedicated to training those mages with the capacity to use High Magic; they also had a Dark College dedicated to the practice of Dhar, but both of these were written out of the setting because it conflicted with the wider narrative that using Dhar was unacceptable to the Colleges of Magic and that there simply weren't enough mages capable of learning High Magic for a Rainbow College to ever be feasible. As for Dhar? Well that's not a race exclusive lore since even people who aren't aware that they're mages can use Dhar by accident. Hell, the dwarves use Dhar all the time with their runesmithing and it just doesn't bother them because runesmiths are rare and dwarves are all magically inert, so the Dhar created when forging a rune doesn't typically affect them. And while the High Elves would ordinarily never use Dhar, the particularly arrogant, stupid, or desperate among them might still use Dhar instead of High Magic or the individual Winds. Necromancers are also universally practitioners of Dhar, as ironically the Wind of Death on its own lacks the raw power and nuance to raise and control the dead.

Very informative video, I think I wou;dn't last long as a wizard in the world that was though. But if I were stuck there I think I would aim for the jade college.

I'm a little late to the party, but if I have to pick one I am either going with Hysh/The Lore of Light or Ulgu/The Lore of Shadow. Hysh, because I like a challenge (it being the most complex of the Lores of Magic) and I would like to be making the big decisions and playing politics in Altdorf or wherever. Plus, I think I would look good in clerical vestments. I kid. As for Ulgu, I like mind-altering powers and generally powers that affect the mind in some way. I find that mind control and manipulation are often underrated and untapped powers when it comes to these kind of worlds. So, I would enjoy being the shadowy puppet master rather than the almighty fiery destroyer Aqshy makes you or the more bestial aspects of Ghur you take on. Maybe it's because I play Wizards a lot in DND so I value general utility over combative prowess. Plus, either one of these offer some great spells in combat. So, I can still fight.

Scientific interpretation? Hysh: Manipulation of photons by extension control over liberation of electrons in such large quantities that it can block physical attacks or just downright being able to project beams of light at high energies Azyr: Manipulation of supposedly gravitons and dark matter by extension bending space and time to create wormholes, create high/low pressure areas creating hurricanes, or removing gravitons from objects or people and using dark matter to simulate flight to oneself or to force back enemies. Chamon: Basically a chemistry god. Full control over subatomic particles being able to transmute any atom to another. Ghyran: I honestly have no idea. Manipulation of any form of living matter accelerating growth? Ghur: Again no feasible explanation, Rapid and all encompassing control of proteins? Manifestation of pheremones? Aqshy: I don't know, full control over kinetic energy of any particles at the same time manipulation of genetic code to sustain extremely rapid cellular regeneration whilst also being on fire Honestly this comment was a terrible idea, its fantasy There is no possible real world laws of physics explanation for the Grey Order and the Lore of death even taking into account the possibility of other dimensions
