Khemri player here. The new box includes in regards to troops only skeletons on foot and mounted versions. However a Khemri army is only working when using your elite choices wisely supported by lesser troops from the box. So everyone hoping to have great battles against the Brets using only the minis provided by both box sets will have a rude awakening.

Good to know - I’m hoping those Khopesh we saw in the weapon previews will be part of a new elite unit we’ve not seen before like Tomb guard maybe?

@@hobbywaffle The knights in the Bret box are one of the most hard-hitting units in the entire WHFB model range. I just feel pity for anybody relegated to play against them with only the Khemri box minis. The devs should have put some special units for Khemri there as well. Alas new Khemri players will feel cheated and probably abandon their army from the getgo damning this entire faction for a second time as it is very hard to play right.

@@hobbywaffle thank you! I think the old world is such a great game. It reminds me more of a backgammon board than AoS does, where you have to be a bit more careful how you position units, what spells you buy and units you deploy, and how you use your squares. I think it’s def a more strategic game than AoS and even 40k. Looking forward to more content! Thank you

Yes the prices are now published on the GW trade section of the website, they are about what I expected, and some of the individual kits are actually ok, seeing as it’s 20 per box (Tomb Guard etc)

@@hobbywaffle Yeah, a massive price increase to 8 Edition was inevitable. The unit boxes are roughly priced as you would expect, but I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised about the starter box pricing, if you brake it down to single unit prices you get them at prices I paid in 6th edition XD

Any word on the box prices?
@hobbywaffle Жыл бұрын
Based on the Leviathan price, I’m guessing £150 rrp with a third party discount price of around £120. There’s a similar amount of minis (72 in Leviathan compared to 76 in the Bretonnia box) and the big rulebook is roughly the same size. Considering the vast amount of minis in both boxes are old kits, I can’t see them charging more than Leviathan - if anything it should be slightly cheaper but I doubt it.

Looks super as usual. I’m not nor do I want to be a Hobby “whale” mindlessly purchasing the next big thing. I want Legions Imperialis to succeed. I bought into it but it is not only untenable, it is irresponsible to just keep buying new systems that I will never have time to engage in or paint to the detriment of those that exist currently. These sales tactics have priced this game beyond my ability to keep up. Using the same methods as presented in Horus Heresy 2.0 is good for their short term profits but they won’t be able to maintain consistent support without a massive expansion of operations and hiring. I love 8th edition but will pass on this one. As they say “I will not be missed.” until everyone like me also closes their wallets. Good video as usual.
@hobbywaffle Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment, and I totally get where you are coming from. I dived into Horus Heresy 2.0 only to realise I couldn’t keep up with the amount of minis I’d have to paint and field to be able to have a decent sized game, so I abandoned a ‘legion force’ and now just pick and choose the odd nice thing to paint for the shelf, so I can concentrate on Legions Imperialis - i I feel like this is something I can cope with from a time and painting perspective, as KZbin also takes up time I don’t have, plus I just love Epic. I really hope LI does well, and hopefully they will keep the support going for the game.

I always like the Warhammer fantasy game as a kid but could never afford to do 40K and fantasy. And then it all disappeared and AOS just didn't do it for me. At least not until more recently when I have since picked up some Nighthaunts and the new Lizardmen look incredible. But whilst I am tempted by these boxes, I am VERY concerned about prices. We've just seen the Battle for Macragge box announcement where they are charging £90 for a boxset originally released for less than half of that (and without the rules.) And that pisses me off so much. Especially when the 40k starter box is £65 and gives you more/ better models. It is disgusting to see such a horrific price hike. I mean, even at current inflation costs, the Macragge set should be £69. Not £90 minus the rulebook. That's 125% rise and again, minus the rule book. So if the thieving b******s are willing to hike the price of macragge by 125%, what will they do for this? I mean 8 years ago, they deemed this entire game as defunct. They saw no worth in selling it anymore. And now they are bringing it back, they want to rerelease these old models they saw no worth in 8 years ago but are inevitably going to charge an 125% increase for them. I'm jumping a gun here. Maybe they will charge the original price. But I highly doubt it. And maybe not the same increase as Macragge, but I wouldn't be surprised. End of the day, I'd love to buy each of these boxes. I hold a lot of nostalgia to them, even though i never played the game when it was around. But this is an expensive hobby. I've already spread out to play 40k, MESBG, AOS, HH, Epic and Killteam. I do not want to start another game system unless it's worth it financially. And I do not see playing a defunct 8 year old game as worth it if they want to charge 2024 prices for 2015 and older models.
@hobbywaffle Жыл бұрын
Yeah the Macragge price set was insulting, especially as it’s just the (old) minis and the terrain and doesn’t include the rules or other bits, and you don’t even get the same box, it’s just in a generic Direct only box! Not cool at all GW. I’d say you’ve chosen well with Nighthaunt and Lizardmen, they are both stunning ranges especially the Seraphon, and if the Legacy PDF’s are coming just after launch like they say, you could actually try the Old World with those free lists for Lizardmen and just the rulebook. I’m really hoping they will price the core boxes sensibly and not charge stupid amounts, I’m not going to pay silly money for old Tomb Kings, even with that Bone Dragon.

GW has a proven track record of ruining rulesets by ignoring the flaws of previous editions, adding underdeveloped new rules and neglecting proper playtesting. Horus Heresy is the perfect example of a game that has serious flaws and playability issues. I'm very worried this game will be over priced and unplayable.
