My stance both before and after we did become NATO members is that NATO need to step in with soldiers and military vehicles to help Ukraine. not just sending stuff and tanks, they need soldiers to!

Would love to hear these mercs comment on how the russians are fighting. Not just "they're good" or "they're bad." I mean how they organize and execute at the squad, platoon, company and battalion level; why, when and how they bring support in (arty, tanks, air); that sort of thing. Can't really get anything out of the russian wargames and the videos they release, because it all looks kinda like a reenactment of the Battle of Kursk.

@fludblud
@fludblud 7 ай бұрын
Not there but know people that were, quality levels and organization of Russian units varies massively by unit and at different points in the war, there is no 'standard' on how Russian troops fight. At the start of the war the Russians were organised around Battalion Tactical Groups, but these proved impossible to properly resupply leading to heavy losses, so their survivors were consolidated into larger Soviet style brigades. Training is a mess and individual brigades handle their own basic training which can vary from three months to just three days. The quality of equipment basically depends on the unit's sponsors and access to independent capital, some are trained on par to NATO and outfitted with the best gear while others force their own troops to pay for ammunition and throw prisoners, kidnapped migrant workers and invalids into frontal assaults. The Russian army is basically a roll of the dice thats held together by sheer numbers and plentiful wartime production of ammunition. There is no other way to fight it other than maintaining a healthy grinding kill ratio with better precision weaponry and technological supremacy.

@@PalleRasmussen Abselutely, but I dont think the FFL are allowed to operate within France due to them not technically being French unless it is a military emergency. They are like the International Legion in Ukraine, hired and paid by the Defence Ministry so NOT mercs (unlike Wagner), but they do have limits.
