Also in hard mode / and hard survival animals will spawn less often *My preferred Animal Hunting Locations (there are a lot more than just these):* Rabbit, found in almost every part of the map: theforestmap.com/#1100.2,633.6 (west beach) 0:40 Deer, wooded areas (extremely seldom seen in large open areas): theforestmap.com/#232.1,402.4 2:40 Raccoon, similarly to the deer (also in video I get the deer and raccoon in the same spot): theforestmap.com/#232.1,402.4 2:40 Boar, Northern part of the map (snow and the edge of the snow biome): theforestmap.com/#-136.3,-907.5 5:45 Bobo what about traps!??! If you're in an area you hang around, like your base, that has the animal you want (besides large size animals you can't trap those), then go for it but it's really slow and takes a lot of sticks lol. Clear the trap out as it is getting dark so you might have a chance to nab a raccoon~! Traps are not bad, they're just too slow for me :P Cloth: Respawn Camp, Cannibal Village: theforestmap.com/#-706.8,1170.4 Katana Cave: theforestmap.com/#-489.4,607.9 Also some caves like Cave 5 have a number of cloth suit cases: theforestmap.com/#620.9,929.8 Rope: 10 cloth = 1 rope, or almost any village will have at least one rope in one of the huts (in my experience expecting two isn't unreasonable). The rope will respawn, given time away sleeping or save/exiting. There is also at least two on the yacht: theforestmap.com/#365.1,1385.3 And cave 2 treasure trove (where the modern axe is) has some: theforestmap.com/#-206.2,1046.2 *Recipes* Spear = 2x stick (amazing vs deer), no need to upgrade it'll 1 shot as a weak spear (upgrade better vs cannibals though, and nice looking for hanging on walls) Rope = 10x cloth Bow = 1x rope 1x cloth 1x stick 5x Arrows = 5x feather 1x stick (I said = feathers in the vid cause I'm really special... lol) Skin Related Unlockables: Fur Boots = 3x rabbit skin 2x rope Berry/Mushroom Pouch = 2x rabbit skin Quiver = 3x rabbit Skins 1x rope Small Rock bag = 1x rabbit skins 1x rope Rock bag = 1x boar skin 1x cloth 3x rope Stick Bag = 1x rabbit skin 3x cloth 2x rope Spear Bag = 2x deer 2x boar 2x cloth 3x rope Waterskin = 2x deer 1x rope *Warmsuit* = 1x raccoon 4x boar 6x deer 1x rabbit 2x cloth 2x rope If you were going for all in one run (lol, good luck on hard mode - lots o waiting then): 11 Rabbit Skin, 10 deer skin, 7 boar skin, 1 raccoon skin Easy to get some early feather farm by just finding a rock, spot on the ground, or body a bird lands on and then just hanging out spawn camping birds lol (they tend to land in the same spots once you see them). Also a few bird houses will keep you well feathered, given time. Spear = your large game animal weapon (1 shots all animals but crocodiles, which take two) Bow = small game, and in combat good for head shots. (1 shots small game, and is faster if you happen to miss; however, if you get good at aiming the spear then honestly use the spear instead. I have trouble aiming the spear reliably on smaller targets, extremely easy once you're used to it for larger ones though.)

Deers are one shot with the modern bow or the flintlock pistol, with a fire arrow and the crafted bow it is a one shot

Just found you (Bought the game like 5 days ago). Me and my friend spent a good 14 days building a huge base just to check out the sinkhole (We explored caves with the best stuff Chainsaw, Modern Bow, Rebreather, etc.) and beat the game after trying 20 times because we didnt have a lot of arrows so we spammed sticky bombs. lol

Another quick, slightly unrelated question Bobo, but say you build on one of the small outlying islands just off the coast, are you essentially impervious to cannibal/mutant attacks on said island?

Pretty much, depending on the size of your base and how glitchy the game decides to be you may get a cannibal sometimes but I'd say "pretty much impervious, minus glitches". Generally the game isn't glitchy but I can imagine some one off rare moment and you then come back and be like "bobo, dude, I woke up to a cannibal!" lol. Sometimes the devs tweak the water damage and they can last under water long enough to come punch the base of your structures, if you're building a large island that goes off the edge of the land. However, as long as you didn't make it so you can't repair your platform with the repair hammer it shouldn't be an issue cause you can repair it as they try to hit it and they die due to water damage. You can use ziplines to easily send logs from shore to shore (make sure that the zipline goes from the tree area to the island though and not the other way around lol), or if you want you can slap a bunch of log holders onto a raft.

What i love about this game is that no 2 saves are exaclty alike. Tress dont grow in the same spot as someone elses game, and same goes for the animals. I have a save where the racoons would be in the grasslands. I found a bunch by the sinkhole in a save. But now on my current game, i caught a few in a trap in the snow biome. Just want to remind some of these other players that there is no "right" answer. You just go hunt them for yourself, they might not be in the same places as someone elses save. I recommend having muliple hunting camps/cabins located in different parts on the map where animals seem to roam. Personally i have one in relatively each biome, using traps, wearing stealth armor and just straight up being patient. Bows are great for small wildlife and spears for deer and boars. Dont get frustrated fellow survivalists, you just have to get out and do the hunting for yourself! :)
