Hello, one of his sons here. My father has passed away a while back. A lot of you are asking for an update video from him and sadly he won't be able to do so. Though most of everyone asking for an update was months ago, let me know. I have these boots he worn in my possession and gladly will give an update review. My Father would definitely want me to do this for his viewers, your feedback is appreciated.

Hello, I REALLY hope you still have your youtube notifications on. I also am one of his sons, Robert (Bobby) Channell(16 years old). I don’t know who you are admittedly, but if you would ever like to get into minimal contact, I am all for that. I am still torn up about his passing and I think it would be good if someday we could talk to each other somehow. Best wishes, - Bobby

I have had the same boots as yours, going on about four years now, and it’s like wearing your slippers out in the snow! When ordering your mukluks though, I was told to make sure to order them one size larger than normal, so they are not too snug. I highly recommend also, that you get yourself a couple tall pair of alpaca socks to go with them! They are so soft, & keep your feet warm & dry, making them the perfect addition to this amazingly comfortable footwear. When you wash alpaca though, you need to hand wash them with shampoo, rinse well, wring them out, & let them hang dry, cuz if you wash them the conventional way, and put them in the dryer, they will shrink to the point you’ll never be able to wear them again, & that’s no fun! I found though, & I’m just being honest, even though my mukluks are amazingly comfortable, when Ice fishing or snowmobiling, I prefer a stiffer, more conventional boot for both water proofing & stiffness for support. Ps. Make sure you watch the how to lace video that the Steger company makes. I had been lacing the bottom part wrong the whole time, and didn’t realize it.

Antarctic test and evaluation for cold weather, including BOOTs for the U.S. Military with a hearty budget. The warmest boot is the Bunny boot. But it is Heavy and clumbsey, but is water proof. For extreme cold weather the boot of choice, used in the polar regions was the N-1b (Air Force) Muck Luk With felt liner. And You can buy a brand new pair for under $55 US. The Canadian military uses a nearly identical boot\Muck Luk. I used a single pair all 4 years in Antarctica. Only changing the felt liner every year.

Looked into them, there was a Proposition 65 warning on the N1B boots. Its a Californian law, so Im not well-read on it, but it says "cancer and reproductive harm" were potential risks. A bit concerning for me, despite not being from that state.

I bought the Steger Mukluks after hearing Brooke Whipple from "Girl in the Woods" , awesome Bushcraft channel, recommend them. She's worn hers in Alaska for 20 years and really gives them a workout, hiking through the wilds, hunting and bushcrafting. They still look amazing after all these years. Awesome boots, awesome channel. Check it out!

I can give you some insight. My family has worn mukluk boots my whole life. My dad discovered them decades ago the first time he went cross-country with my mother and he bought a pair for himself since he’s out in the snow all the time in the winter and his first pair lasted him over 20 years. They get better with time. Depending on where you get them from they just mold to your feet and the leather and suede softens as the years go on and they just fit like a glove. I finally have a pair that’s been with me for about that long.... it’s expensive when you’re a growing kid, but once you get in that adult pair... their with you forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️ so even though they’re expensive it’s a wonderful investment because first of all warm dry feet you can’t put a price on and a boat that’s going to last you several decades is well worth a couple hundred dollars that you’re going to spend on it now. Just take good care of them. Look through whichever website you’re getting them from and make sure that it’s not the knock off brand but a brand that’s made by indigenous tribes and look at their care suggestions and just take care of them year after year and they’ll do you good I promise!

Personally I wouldn't say it's the coolest movie of all time, but yeah Jeremiah Johnson is a COOL movie! I've never seen anyone wearing boots quite like that, except maybe Jeremiah Johnson. Wow though they do look super cool, I mean warm haha! I briefly perused the website and I see what you mean about prices, but actually pretty reasonable when you consider what you are getting and if they really do perform as promised. And let's be real, the "cool factor" is worth a few extra bucks. I could definitey see wearing these just hanging out in the woods around a cabin or a camp or for bushcrafting or something like that, but I guess only testing will tell how well they hold up to serious backpacking and hiking. I'll be looking forward to your reports after you've put some miles on them. Thanks for sharing this product with us!

As far as price ...I personally don't think they're expensive when you take inconsideration the ridiculous price of fashion sneakers (which i don't understand why they charge so much) think about it ,take a nike sneaker which is 100% cheap and really not functional at all... I grew up very poor and nike was what we bought for $9.99 (they put a cheap shoe on Micheal Jordan and pulled the wool over everyones eye's) ... I'm sorry I'm ranting .....personally i don't buy shoes unless they are hand or american made and in actuality all my comfy shoes are hand and or american made ..... these are defiantly on my next purchase list for winter boots.....

To get the best performance from your muck Luk is to dry it out Every night! There are cheap but effective boot dryers you can purchase for this. And wear two pairs of scocks, the sock over your skin should be a thinner Wicking material sock.Over that, wear a cushion y thick sock , cotton or wool. Dry them out Every night. yes you n me both i love that movie its really odd that you mention this in relation to robery redfords boots in that movie cuz ive just seen that movie and was thinking before you said it way that theyre laced up that they look like jeremiah johnsons i think that the reason they are so comfy is that the wool allows not only the warmth but the free blood flow within your feet!! russians siberians have a all wool bootie on the outer the snow attaches to the matted wool.they just shake em off pad around in the snow in? these look so really nice!! superb design on them id be afraid of mucking them up but a great way to spend $269 they will pay for themselves in comfort over the years a nice investment & a nice wife! now you need a mountain man blanket jkt or hide jkt go high.into the mts into jeremiah.johnson country

Looking at a pair of these for winter light hiking, cutting and splitting firewood and sitting around the campfire with friends while trailer camping. Temps here in winter average 30s and 40s in the day and 20's and 30's at night. I know these would be plenty warm, but concerned they might be TOO warm. Can you or anyone who has them share experience in temps in the 20's to 50's?

im from minnesota, and im actually not a huge fan. they are warm only when its cold and very dry. they dont handle cold and wet at all, the leather is permiable and if your walking through mushy snow or slush your feet will get soaked quickly, which can be dangrous. also the soles are about the worst ive ever worn for icey or slippery conditions. they are a soft gum rubber with some sort of tred bars moulded in, they are probably the slipperyest soles ive ever worn, also word of warning if your used to boots with support these have none at all, which is fine but you have to get used to it. for the conditions we have in minnesota, where it can be very cold but also large temprature swings where it gets wet and cold quickly, i find pac boots to be by far the best and most versitile winter boots. find them with wool felt liners and full grain shafts if possible, wax the leather and your good for a wide variety of conditions.
