Brought back memories watching you guys putting the cable back on. I did that all by myself, and it was not fun at all. Than about six months later I took the cable back off and replaced it with the synthetic rope. The rope turned out to be awesome.
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. Might have to switch to the rope myself...chain works but rope sounds good. thanks!

It's great that Rich has the mechanical knowledge and ability to install replacement parts on an otherwise very expensive winch. That savings can now go into building your new homestead. Thanks for sharing

Should have put brushes in it, and called it a complete maintenence ! That is the tough thing about buried components like that, they look ok until you start in on it. Great work ! Thanks for showing all of it, especially the parts that did not go so easy. Hope a great summer so far !

Sometimes things don't go according to plan and that is exactly what happened when we went to change the cable on our Warn ATV Winch! It should have been a simple change but turned into a much larger job than we thought! Works like new now though so everything for a reason :-)

2 of my 4 brushes broke off the leads. How can this be fixed? Don’t think these can just be soldered on?
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid4 жыл бұрын
You will probably have to replace the whole brush.

i'm rebuilding one that was used on a submarine ( not really but previous owner was clearly a fan of mudding) the seals had failed and the things internals were just absolutely caked with mud, any idea where to buy a seal kit for one of these winches?
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid11 ай бұрын
I honestly don’t. I would reach out to the manufacturer… hope you figure it out 👍

I have that same 2.5 CI winch. It's been serviced twice for the rope hopping over and jamming the drum. It's a design flaw. You're better off just getting a new winch.
