I went on this tour 12 years ago and I didn't see half this stuff you showed in your video. Looks like they've really changed it around. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of 80s filming locations.

Adam the Woo has a few videos of the backlot locations that you didnt get to see on this particular tour. But it was nice to see the areas you showed as well. Keep it up, Kurt!

Pee Week's Big Adventure used the Claude Bell Dinosaurs down in Cabazon California for the Dinosaur scenes. In fact,Paul Reubens had a Bathroom built in the tail of one of the Dinosaurs! This Dino also had an upstairs Museum in it,as of the early 2000's. If you make the trip and the Dinosaurs are not open,there used to be a great restaurant nearby called the 'Wheel Inn.' Excellent huge Omelettes and Hash browns for a great price!
@80sLife2 жыл бұрын
Yes, been to the dinosaurs many times. Was actually there last month. Unfortunately the wheel inn was torn down a while ago

FYI....if you don't see something you should definitely ask to be taken there. I have a good friend who works there and says when your tour ends, always ask to be taken to see a specific part of the lot. They will do their best to take you there....

Universal backlot...I found 185 Culver Blvd, Playa del Rey, LA... _Adam-12_ episode _Venice Division_ (#6.5, 1973), and _Highway Patrol_ episode _Radioactive_ (#1.8, 1955).

When I did the tour 45 years ago, we got to go in a sound stage and watch an actors rehearsal being done for a scene before cameras roll. Also went in a sound studio where engineers were adding sound effects and background music to a movie.

It’s the area Kurt pointed out where ER was filmed - it was essentially that entire street. The Blade Runner Final Cut blu-ray has a ton of making of info on it, it’s excellent.

I was always amazed how much waste the studios would generate just for one scene even ,I was sent once to clean up a TV set and they had dumpster loads worth of stuff ,55 gallon drums of chain ,freight containers bolts metal ...plus they always had new trucks and equipment......as opposed to the guys I worked for who lost it about sales tax

Thanks for sharing Kurt! One thing that would help me (and other people I'm thinking) visualize these locations, would be to show and/or talk about the reference and then show your current point of view. The order you do it in, I end up having to rewind to see the what I'm looking for.

i’d be curious to see a tour of the other wb studios satellite area down the road, north past the 101 on hollywood way, next door to the strip mall area where western bagels, cvs etc are. while not necessarily 80s related, the house from “animal kingdom” is there as well as the fountain from “friends” and other shows. probably some 80s stuff too depending how long that’s been there. edit: 411 N. Hollywood Way

Hey I love your videos. I've seen almost all of them. Brings back a lot of memories of growing up in Arcadia in the late 70s/early 80s. Unfortunately I live in the Bay Area now. Can you do some videos of the Arcadia/Pasadena/El Monte/San Gabriel area if you have any memories or connection there? I would love to see some videos of that area.
@JNC19732 жыл бұрын
Hey anything particular you guys wanna see today ? Well too bad !!! Lol. No but seriously i am thankful for these studio tour videos cause a lot of us don't live in or anywhere near California and can't afford to travel there just to take a 1/2 hour tour. I live on the East Coast but i love everything about the 80s. Especially the tv shows and music. All those 1/2 hour sitcoms i used to watch made me feel like i was in their livingrooms and to see that it was just a studio will always be weird to see.
