Baz specifically chose songs that would be easy for Austin to sing live. Austin only does a few songs. "Baby let's play house" was brilliant. But everything else was bits and pieces, because Austin has a very limited voice. Throughout the movie, it's mostly elvis's voice. Baz knew to only use Austin's voice jn a very limited fashion. Baz said from the start of the Elvis Project in 2014 ..."I can't make this movie if I can't find my Elvis". He knew what he wanted in his Elvis, and Austin Butler delivered the goods, in spades. The best Elvis to grace the big screen except for the great man himself of course. Prior to Baz Luhmann's ELVIS the only other comparison we Elvis fans had was the John Carpenter release "Elvis The Movie" with Kurt Russell playing a passable Elvis, however Russell's performance at times seems wooden. Where Austin Butler's Elvis is the most believable yet. Butler totally enveloped his character. Indeed he made you believe that he was Elvis for those two and a half hours on the screen. WOW.

I’m not a huge Elvis fan, I’m not a huge fan of Baz Luhrmann movies, and I kinda had my reservations about this movie before I saw it based on those two things alone…. It’s very rare that I set my expectations low for a movie and I’m absolutely blown away by the time the credits roll. This was one of the best biopics I’ve ever seen and I gained way more respect for Elvis as an artist and Baz Luhrmann as a director after seeing this. It was incredibly well done. I want to watch it again as soon as possible.

I saw it in the theatre. The only reason I didn't walk out after the first 15 min. was because of the money I paid to see it. I thought it was long, drawn out, and boring. @@CathieSoli Have you ever enjoyed a movie in your entire life? The movie is extremely captivating imo. Extremely. It has your attention from the first haunting notes of Suspicious Minds, and keeps it in the dramatic follow ups leading to the bombastic opening of the American Trilogy. Also, I don’t know if you even seen the movie or not, but it absolutely did show his relationship with his mother, precisely why he and Priscilla divorced. It showed Elvis cheating on her, his drugs, his detachment to Priscilla (as stated by her, if you’re really that slow to not catch on). It also showed how he got hooked on drugs while on tour for the very first time. Notice that pill his friend gives him? Lol.. Of course you didn’t, because you probably didn’t even see the movie.

I'll have to admit that, at first, when watching the trailers for "ELVIS," I thought that Austin Butler looked nothing like him, but, seeing the recreated segments of the '68 Comeback Special' and 'Aloha from Hawaii' convinced me that Baz Luhrmann found the perfect way to capture the 'spirit' of Presley, and Austin Butler personifies it to perfection! Not so much with Tom Hank's 'Tom Parker' portrayal, though.

He was the first, forging a path for others to follow in his wake. Elvis, Red West, Bill Black and Scotty Moore had to as Elvis said "learn it all" on the road of the 1950s No one had done anything musically or touring like Elvis did between 1954-1955, making his name through the southern states and with radio air play. I must say, I am angry sometimes with Elvis, for not getting himself together, physically. Why did they let people get chemicals to him after the Aloha Concert. After that global performance he should have started cleaning himself up. If he had he could still be alive today with Jerry Shilling, they could have both grown old together.
