To be honest he wasn't superb in this perfomance, the real opera is different, Pavarotti singing the real opera is different. Turandot never been the cup of tea of Pavarotti, he didn't have the proper voice to sing it. Franco Corelli was superb. This is a performance for a pop audience, made without proper training etc.., an exibition for those people who love Bocelli and Il Volo, I bet they're shocked by a real opera tenor like Pavarotti.

Listen to Jussi Björling and let me know who you prefer. He was Pavarotti's Idol.

Bocelli came close. He did Pavarotti a huge tribute, but still wasn't quite as good. Pavarotti will forever be the the most heartfelt and powerful opera voice that ever lived in my opinion.

If this is the only one you know, or you’ve ever heard, yes. Otherwise is nothing ‘unmatched’ and even less ‘unmatchable’. If you think This is ‘unmatched’ or ‘unmatchable’ have a listen to Corelli.

@@toivonencresto True, But everything just thinks Pavarotti is unbeatable. Which in my opinion he almost isn't beatable. There are some amazing tenors out there but Pavarotti does it the best, The emotion he puts into every single song is unreal.

I grew up in Texas. Never exposed to this... A war veteran and a "manly" man.... But then I had my daughter and songs like this that I don't understand the lyrics (until I Google them)... But since that moment when I first heard her little cry. I hear the emotions in this music I used to ignore. And even without the linguistic context it moves me to tears... Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking

Bro, same here. Iraq, 2008. Check out Andrea and Matteo Bocelli's "Fall on Me". It's a father-son duet that still wrecks me. There is a lot that changes with age. Roll with it and thank God for the gifts and blessings it brings.

@@puckered6036 if that's how you choose to see it, that's on you. Being unwilling to consider the possibility that such music was outside of cultural lexicon is a you problem. We were never meant to know and experience all, that would be impossible. Spend less time looking down your nose at others, and you may begin to see the things you didn't get to see until forced on you by life.

I've always listened to rock. Grew up on the 70's and 80's stuff, added in Rammstein and others when I got older. But this.....this moves me like nothing else. I played tuba for two years in jr high and being in the middle of that, when we got it going just right.....amazing.
