А мне слушать этот первый номер всегда насилие над собой, чтобы в очередной раз убедиться, что всё ещё не нашлось для меня записи, которую можно слушать, не раздражаясь от такого пения. Неужели никому не очевидно, она глубит звук, никакой кантилены, полно призвуков из-за неправильного формирования звука, эмоции это не бельканто, в сравнении с Карузо это не эмоции, передаваемые голосом, а просто актерская игра. Чувства то она передать стремиться, но её вокальный арсенал не позволяет ей их выразить, именно, голосом. Ровное, близкое пение вот основа бельканто и возможность свободного выражения всех оттенков человеческих эмоций, а динамика, это всего лишь одна из возможностей их выразить. Послушайте Карузо, у него эмоции дирижирует динамикой звучания, а у основной массы певцов лишь громкость звучания определяет накал страстей.

@@nikname1672 I agree. I think Montserrat Caballe did this better. I never got what the big deal was with Callas. Not that she wasn’t good. Of course she was! She had that firm reverberating space and resonance that many singers these days lack, but out of all singers of all times vocally she was average. She had some good characteristics, but some not so good. Not very consistent and a bit belabored. Personally, I think Montserrat Caballé sang this with better vocal technique.

Last year 2023 on December 2nd Maria Callas would be 100 years old. Probably the greatest opera singer of all time had to leave the world far too early at the age of 54, she died of a broken heart

This performance, as well as the 1957 Casta Diva with the Rai Orchestra Rome, are probably my favourite videos from Callas in concert (apart from the astonishing Tosca ópera performance in 1964 in London, of course). Thank you Warner Music channel for uploading this one! I hope someday you may also upload the 1957 Casta Diva I mentioned (it is better than the Paris one that you already uploaded). Thank you Maria for giving so much to us!

If only Maria Callas had not got acquainted with Aristotle Socrates Onassis, who not only ruined her career as an opera singer but betrayed her by choosing Jacqueline Kennedy for his second wife. She was completely under his emotional spell. When she got pregnant, he forced her to have an abortion. He was a rich, vile individual that treated her badly. She let him ruin her life. Truly let him. Obviously very insecure despite her magnificent and superb voice, presentation and presence. I am sure she treated Jackeline just as bad. He forced her to loose weight, and she lost her voice too. She was the first soprano that showed emotions and gestures during performance. Every word was felt, every emotion felt and demonstrated. The very high C to the very low notes, and her magnificent coloratura. Superb and unique, in every sense. ❤❤❤
