They claim they were so injured in their 20s they couldn't do traditional lifts anymore. That is pathetic on such a statistically improbable level. I can't even imagine how poorly you'd have to train for that to be the case.

I think what has been lost is the idea that body building is specifically dysfunctional, otherwise it wouldn’t work. Bodybuilding is about finding specific exercises that put the body at such a disadvantage that it places undue stress on specific muscles. If the body is meant to function as a unit this is obviously dysfunctional. BUT it is this exact disfunction that tricks the body into rapidly growing tissue that it wouldn’t otherwise. Body building is just that, building up a structure. However, it stands to reason that you would then want to educate and reintegrate that structure toward a specific goal/function. That’s where “functional” training comes in. I think body building still has a place in everyone’s fitness and is necessary for getting to body to build tissue in specific places.

I learned the hard way that barbell back squats are t for everyone. Herniated a disc years ago doing a heavy weight that I could lift multiple times but randomly hurt my back. I was young so I shrugged it off but eventually developed progressive sciatica symptoms. Got the microdisectomy done a few years ago and feels great. Primarily do hack squats now to keep the weight from being loaded in my spine
@qthequick
@qthequick 5 ай бұрын
@@DeusExMachina50 yes but not directly so I find it more tolerable. The leg press does not but the movement makes the spine rigid or stuck in place so when the weight comes down you can feel the load on your lower back. Not an issue with might weight but heavy load is a problem. The dumbbell split squat is my primary movement where I place the most load

Same old arguments. Back Squats will stand the test of time. Functional “Patterns” and movements can and should be added in for athletes. People need to stop maligning other modalities just because they’re trying to sell something. If they were fucked in their early 20’s from Squats then they didn’t do them correctly and that’s their problem. Wouldn’t take advice from someone who’s so myopic that they shit on BACK SQUATS 🤦🏻‍♂️ Also, what do you think would happen if you recklessly performed a FP exercise?? You’d get injured! Not saying FP is useless, never tried them, and I’d assume they have many useful gems but I probably won’t be paying them money for the simple fact that they’re silly and cultish.

This is not what the said principle is. Train sport by doing the sport. Don’t do weird bs to ineffectively strengthen muscles that are better strengthened by major lifts. There’s a difference between workout and practice
@Paul-Weston
@Paul-Weston 4 ай бұрын
I'm sorry but you're wrong. Sprinting, you could spend 6 days a week sprinting. Just sprinting in every workout. You will get beaten by a guy who trains with weights 3 days per week, Day on day off, with a mix of light weights lifted explosively and heavy weights lifted in the 3-5 rep range and medium weights in the 8-12 rep range. Then on the days in-between practice sprinting. Obviously I'm not an athletics coach and that ratio of weight training vs sprint training would need to be tweaked a little. However, there's a reason every sprinter in the world trains like this.
@Monarch-mm4en
@Monarch-mm4en 2 ай бұрын
I’m for sure faster than them at sprinting, and did not do FP. And they will prolly hurt themselves in trying to beat me at sprints cos they will push to hard for what their body can do. Morale of the story, I don’t think any movement are necessarily wrong, every movement will hurt you if you push more than what you can handle, included sprinting which is the top movement of FP
@Monarch-mm4en

No way they can make Usain Bolt faster. He reach the summit of mountain already, that’s his peak, it’s just the path that he took was different from FP. Maybe he could’ve said, that when Usain Bolt started from zero, if he trained with FP, he will reach the summit without any kind of pain

Usually I look at the person telling me I need to do a particular exercise. Then I think to myself, "do they have the physique I'm trying to achieve". If some guy's telling you how to achieve a beautiful smile, then they open their mouth and they have broken yellow teeth. Would you follow his advice?.
@mainsourcery
@mainsourcery 4 ай бұрын
@@Paul-Weston if the guy is known to solve problems & make people more adaptable, I would worry about that a little more than the physique itself..for the moment, at least. FP has results of changing people’s physiques, but those have been driven by the mechanisms of (efficient) sprinting & throwing.
