I received a letter from SS and they increased my Medicare cost by $85 based on 2023 taxes. I won lots of money at the casino but lost the winnings so I essentially didn’t win anything but SS said that because of the winnings I am being charged the additional $85. I think it is called IRMA. My husband passed away on December 8 2023. So I still have a good income because I work full time but nearly the amount in 2023. Is there anything I can do?

I’ve had United Healthcare dual complete for over 13 years and in my opinion it’s the absolute best. It pays 100% of all my medications,2,000 for dental care,$600 for eye glasses or contacts and the eye exam is free,no copay for Drs visits and $290 in otc and food + utilities

Starting social security in january I am 65 - Husband is 74 and filing on my SS since it is more than twice his. He started filing at age 62. Is he still entitled to 1/2 of my Full Retirement benefit. Was told during his phone interview that he will get only half of what I will receive in January at reduced pay?

Yes, his portion will be reduced b/c he filed at 62.

I don't think he qualifies for the 50% since he gets a reduction in benefits forever d/t him filing early at 62. I do believe this pertains to married spouse benefits, too.

Did you mean SS?, regular soc. sec. SSI is the welfare program. If you've been on SS for 6 yr's., then you are around 68? That is too late to apply for disability.

F plan is not offered anymore to new recipients. IMHO, keep it as long as you can afford it. Pays more than G plans.

If you don’t have to go to the doctor much, look at a Plan N. You have to pay a copay but the difference in premiums is worth it (to me).

This so messed up... Just turned 65, Level 3 disablilty..SSI 1 yr, then DWB..SSA enrolled me..Ok, Fine. Paying my Part B( 174$).As follows:D-SNP,Extra help( under 1909$ for my state VIRGINIA)..UHC is my Medical Avantage plan..Great..AHHH,NO..I mentioned iam over the Medicade $$Eligibility..But this what Va.Medicare signed up for.🤔🤷‍♀️.. Finally Medicade sent me the Ineligibility letter.( i was in Hospital when arrived).Was not considered for a SPENDOWN.. I contacted my Medicare Rep.,Went in filled out Disability Means form..WAITING... DEC 7TH is in a week soon..Anyway, i just asking how does Medicare figure out all of this ... D-SNP, with $$$ medicade over limit..They see all... I will be talking again with my Medicare REP.on the 2nd..So if Medicade rejects me there goes my MEDICAL ADVANTAGE..& will be reassigned insurance..CATCH 22.Again how does Medicare figure all out????🤔😔

If your supplement is doing okay, by that I mean your Dr. is accepting it & it is paying, then it would appear that everything is working correctly & there would be no need to contact Medicare.

@@carmenvillegas-grant5585 no, the main requirement for receiving ex spouse benefits of any kind is, you MUST file for, and be collecting SSR on your own record first and then file another claim for IEDS (Independently Entitled Divorced Spouse) benefits.
