I barely watch videos anymore because I came to the conclusion that they were pushing products just for the money. At the end of the day having a beard is cool but it’s not everything. I started over three months ago and finally realized this. Most of these reviewers are pushing products to people who will literally buy anything. At the end of the day I have so many products going to waste because these people are promoting products that are trash. When I saw your review on Class Grooming I finally found out what a good product is. Have you tried Magnanimous Beards. I bought a oil along with wash and conditioner and it’s top notch .
@kentuckybeardsman2 жыл бұрын
Yeah bro that's why I try and only push what I believe is great products. A few are not top or superior products but they are better than most the big companies shoved down everyone's throat. Lol. Classic has a great blend and I love their stuff. No I haven't heard of them! I will Def check out their site. Appreciate the support and the rec. Love trying new stuff. Oh and I feel ya I have prob 1500 oils and no telling how many butters and balms, ECT ECT from over the years and also reviewing. They just go to waste eventually except for the ones you see in my vids. Those I actually use and keep cold in that room

Also 3 months in to my first beard finding all these companies/products/scents. One thing I’ve been wondering is why people have so many products at one time. I can understand having a few (3/4) different scents in oil/balm/butter, but just that amount alone will last more 3+ months. How would u ever go throw the dozens/hundreds of bottles most of these guys have? Also, what do u think is the average number that the average Joe Bearded has at any one time?
@kentuckybeardsman Жыл бұрын
@@Antnav619 honestly it all depends on who you're asking, if you're talking to someone like me I keep my products at a very cool temperature which makes them stay preserved much much longer plus they don't have a hardly see the light of day which also extends the life of all the products. Also if you're speaking about any reviewer they have that many because they review one to two products every week so it adds up but what else are you going to do with it just throw it away? Now if you are talking about the regular consumer that has tons of them well it's kind of like people that collect cars kids that collect dinosaur models or Hot Wheels, basically they enjoy and consider it a hobby.

@@Antnav619 oh sorry one more thing going along with the previous comment that I left back for you. There's also the people that are just trying to fit in and they think it's cool to have a bunch of oils they also tend to listen to their favorite reviewer and they try to buy every single thing that they ever talk about which is not recommended in my opinion. Fomo is a real thing unfortunately. There's a whole lot more to this obviously I can't explain every bit of it in just a comment

Drew, you are one of only 2 or 3 channels that I take seriously for beard reviews because I know I will always get honesty and knowledge from you. The commenter you refer to from ep 7 I am subbed to but rarely watch because I feel like he is more concerned about production quality than anything else. I'm here for the honest reviews and could honestly care less about cameras and lighting etc etc
@kentuckybeardsman2 жыл бұрын
It's actually kind of funny you bring that up cuz somebody said something about how much he's grown as a channel and I asked him for them to give me some examples of hell he has grown and he used all the production stuff as an example and I was like well that's not really gross anybody can buy lights and camera and audio equipmentlol.

Holy moly! What a rant. Goodness, my ears are bleeding 😂. On a serious note, I understand what you’re getting across. Some of these reviewers that you’re reviewing I don’t follow anymore like I used too before for one reason or another. I’m sure, like myself, that many people, even though they are subscribed, just don’t watch like they used too. Maybe because the content is getting monotonous. After saying that, this is where you doing this reviewer series could be beneficial for all. So, I say keep it up.

Thanks brother yeah man just had to get that off my chest so tired of them saying I'm hating and then this that the other when they're literally sitting there watching their friends channels die instead of actually speaking out and helping them. It kind of speaks volumes for their friendships when a guy that doesn't even like them is trying to help them and their friends aren't

I watched a lot of the big names when I got into beard products and really decided to grow mine out. I think the big names do attract a lot of newbies because it’s overwhelming with all the companies now and the flashy equipment does make it more interesting. However as you become more seasoned on products and your beard. There is less of a need for that. You like what you like. I can tell know by a carrier blend and the order of ingredients of that blend if I’m probably going to like it. Scent is subjective, which is why you find a reviewer that likes similar profiles and get their input. I’ve found now that I just direct message reviewers and ask an opinion. That’s the downfall of a lot of reviewers, they don’t interact back and people lose interest.
@kentuckybeardsman2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man I truly agree with you on that they do bring in a lot of the new guys but I do feel a lot of it is because of the popularity I guess you would call it that they've gained. How they gained it well that's a whole different story for some of them but either way yet they technically do have a place for sure. And I also I'm the same way I can tell you if I'm going to like something before I even know anything besides just the ingredients it's it's super easy to tell when you know your beard. I find it extremely hard to watch other reviewers because I just don't have a need for them but I do try to watch a few of them just to support them and then some of the beard styling videos and stuff like that I really enjoy which is why on episode 1 I was saying that Dave should be doing that stuff since he is a barber so hopefully he'll take that advice and do it cuz it would make his channel very unique and extra interesting. Appreciate all your support man
@bsly1372 жыл бұрын
From my perspective you are trying to help these channels, not bash them. All but 1 or then you've reviewed, i no longer subscribe to or watch videos because their content is lacking. If nothing else, when people see your review the reviewer videos, it will bring more attention to them. I'm just an average joe that's gotten into beards and I want to see the best for the beard community and I believe what you are doing is good. We can all be nice and cordial but sometimes the honest truth needs to be told to prompt change. I'm not satisfied with complacency. I want the best for my beard and the community needs more people like you pushing for this. Keep up the good work.
@kentuckybeardsman2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man and I think I already said this in one of your other comments on a different video or this one possibly, but yeah that's exactly what this whole series is about is publicly pointing out the good things and the bad things so that myself and hopefully many others in the comments section will do the same thing so that when the person in the video is about looks through the comments they will see that it's not just me it's some of the people that follow me and some of the people that follow them and some of their friends hopefully even will point out what's good and bad about their channel so they can realize hey maybe I should make some changes. Sadly I doubt many if any of them will do anything different but it doesn't hurt to try right

The first 10 people that I wrote down on a list like four months ago we're just that a list of people I wrote down four months ago and 4 months ago he was still reviewing and as of two weeks ago he was still reviewing so wouldn't really make much sense of me to not do the video. Also unless he's taken down all of his beard review stuff as far as videos and the whole channel itself technically, getting rid of all of his discount codes and affiliate codes, and strictly starting a business then yes he's still a reviewer. If you'd open your eyes 👀

Also, I want to spend my money on the best products. I'm not interested in buying sub par beard products because the biggest reviewers are pushing them because of their collabs and affiliates with them. I think most beardsman will eventually see through this with the big reviewers but guys just starting out in the hobby might be lured by some of these reviewers to buy inferior beard products and waste their money on crap. I did it initially. I didn't waste too much because I was smart enough to at least get a sample pack since that's what they push all the time in their adds. I was not impressed with this bigger name company and have branched out to try more of the small batch companies and I have been pleased with the ones I have tried. I get people want to take up for their friends but truth be told you're also trying to help their friends. What are they doing to help? Patting them on the back and not pushing them to get better? That's not very helpful. I will say this though because I've had friends that were incapable of thinking differently. I think some are just that way. They are not willing to think outside of the box. They would rather believe a lie than seek truth.
@kentuckybeardsman2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man for sure a lot of them are just what I like to refer to as drunk on the Kool-Aid and then others are just like you said they just are incapable of thinking of it any other way than what they saw their favorite reviewer or friend tell them it is. If that makes sense. Lol. Some of the fake facades and egos that some of these guys have gained also is just insane in my opinion. My hopes as mentioned in the video is that more people will leave comments with positive and especially negative feedback to those channels that I'm reviewing so that they will see it's not me trying to pick on them but it's an actual fact that they're doing something that sucks or is boring or whatever it may be. Especially their friends if their own friends would stop that petting on the back and would speak out and say hey if he did this it would be better then they definitely would believe that the series is there to help them

i personally stopped watching the videos or weekly videos because of the monotony , it got boring. I will check in weekly , but not daily anymore. Hey I think you should clean shave and then lat your beard grow out. Show us the journey from start to end. Maybe a yeard. You can still do product reviews along the way. As for your review the reviewers series keep them coming. At least it's something different from the same old stuff all the time. Day in and day out. I've noticed there's a few guys that have started pretty much remaking videos they've already made two or three times. I don't much care for the rants. Who cares what others say.
