I think they demonetize the channel if they almost only have videos like that, because Aaron said they haven't demonetized him. But I agree that it's too harsh because people might not know the rules, give a warning by demonetizing the video instead.

⁠@@teijaflink2226 It is kind of ridiculous, but obviously KZbin wants to make this new rule very clear to people… I think it is awful to take people’s livelyhood away just like that. I think they could’ve demonetized ONE video, and give the channel owner a clear message that if it happens again, their CHANNEL will be demonetized for XX months… Aaron’s channel is not demonetized because KZbin is NOT giving this new rule retroactive force. In order to be demonetized over this, you have to break the rule NOW. They can’t, after seeing you break the rule now, demonitize because they see that it is something that you’ve been doing over time, because the rule was not in existance back then. So the old videos can’t possibly be used as a reason for demonetization! BTW, in most western countries, laws can’t be given retroactive force, which makes perfect sense. Since that is a common legal principle, companies like KZbin wouldn’t make their rules like that, because it makes no sense to do it there either. You can’t come and say «You broke the law back in January, according to the new rules from May of this year, so we’ll demonetize your channel!». It just wouldn’t make any sense, not legally, not in any way!!! 🤗❤️🩷🧡

I completely removed monetarization from my channel three years ago when KZbin decided that small channels don't deserve a payout anymore, because the amounts are "too small". I wasn't doing it for the money, but the couple of €ents were a nice appreciation that my work isn't completely worthless. But being told by KZbin that my content was not worth anything to them was the last straw, I canceled all ads and monetization. If I don't get anything, neither does KZbin. Use other means of monetization, there are enough that won't take KZbin's ridiculous fees.

It will become a problem rather soon. Especially if you have channels of notably different sizes collaborate. If a 200k, a 20k and a 10k channel rotate hosting the stream, two out of three streams will reach _significantly_ fewer people. They will also grow much slower since there will be less spillover from the big one.

As poorly as KZbin rolled this out, it seems unlikely YT updated their algorithm to give people recommendations from all members posting an episode in rotation of a recurring panel discussion. So that risks missing it being in feed for few/several days/weeks at a time. Plus some panels may be time/order sensitive, so potentially adds a vector for people to lose interest if realize they have become one or more full cycles behind. That also probably hurts how panel show channels can monetize the effort they are putting into them.

Thanks for the info! I've had my KZbin channel for over 18 years and my main channel was just demonetized out of the blue with no reason... I did have a couple of livestreams running on my two channels but I didn't know there was anything wrong with that. I lost my appeal but I am still fighting it, but I think my main channel is toast after almost 20 years.................

Cults to Consciousness has recently provided a good example of splitting airtime with their Amanda Rae collab. It seems they were also somehow able to have KZbin send their viewers directly to Amanda's channel for the second half of the live stream, kind of like a Twitch raid.

I got my channel demonitized, my channel Cali Planes got monetized again. You have to make the appeal video showing how you make the video. They dont want an explanation. Show them behind the scenes how you make the video and how you make the thumbnail. Show them how your make the video, it worked for me and another stream I helped

If people with new channels aren’t comfortable yet managing chat while doing Q& A, they may want to make a YT community post or ask for people to submit questions on thier IG stories. I’ve seen other communities do this to get questions ahead of time effectively. Or just create a slideshow of pictures to play while finding questions in chat like Sterling did his first few videos. We want to help SPTV creators best we can

It's always been like this for small people dealing with huge corporations. The only difference is that due to the very character of social media, there are now infinitely more direct connections between the two. It's less bad if the power gap isn't so steep, like when a huge manufacturer sells to a huge international wholesaler who sells to a domestic wholesaler who sells to a retailer who sells to a private person. If every person had to buy their car directly from the international management of BMW, the situation would be just as bad.

No-one is going to watch the same video four times.. and it's an agreement between the participants that they each stream - it's not stealing content off one creator and republishing it as your own to deprive them of the revenue. It is unique because it is live. The chat is an integral part of the live. Therefore each channel/chat combination is unique. Therefore there are multiple unique experiences. An important part of this explanation is to preserve the live chat after it is over. There is a reason to visit each because the chat is different.

@@dmmp27 afaik they are paying each channel that is monetized based on viewer hours. so yeah, if you watch the same thing over and over, it's going to count all that time in the paid hours. the money presumably to them is coming from ads. so the more ads are run, the more they make, the more they have to pay the channel for running the content.

This is as old as the hills, the Google rule against duplicate content. I have always been dubious about the simultaneous streams to multiple channels, which are all the same videos with the same titles. What does surprise me is it took so long for Google to take action on this. Take turns on the live streams.

Allow content creators with different channels who do live stream joint conversations to their individual account access to a collaboration tool, maybe allow the banner of each channel to appear on one video and allow creators to set money sharing arrangements. If you guys want to do live panel discussions, here's a way to do that which also makes it original content. You have four people. Person #1 streams the live on their channel. The 4 people do a live disccusion in 2 days, or a week, or whatever works for the 4 people. Person #2 is the live streamer. Person #3 live streams the third discussiion, etc. It doesn't have to be 4 peoplee. It could be Liz and Nora alternating as the host channel and doing the stream. It could be 6 people on the panel and they agree to do 6 conversations with each person hosting/streaming one discussion. No one will get demonitized for duplicate content, and each person has the opportunity to host and make money.

I think the gaming scenario would be different because the game view would be different for each player, even if the side corner images are each person who is playing. The view within the game would likely be different from each player, making it different and distinct enough. Whereas x-amount of people doing a podcast together, will all show the exact same video content.

In this example each channel is playing the same game, but each channel has their own first-person POV of the game, so the image on the screen will always be unique.

That policy doesn't make any sense because I watch KICK streamers do game shows in Austin, and all the contestants are livestreamers. The cameraman allows the livestreamers individually livestream the main camera to that person's channel to receive individual super chats and paid subscribers during the game, otherwise its not worth all the contestants to show up for the one production. They are sometimes physically in the game show together or maybe not maybe they are in Streamlabs virtually together. They have a physical game show stage with a spinning wheel and individual podiums for the contestants livestreamers rent the studio.

If going from channel to channel, maybe ensure you all have different overlays and maybe reconfigure the positioning of the cameras and stuff like that i.e. make it LOOK different to the bots as well.
