**VIDEO SPOILERS BELOW** Holy crap, how bad is that mage starter deck? After beating the game, I looked up other people's playthroughs and saw that half the people who took the Mage deck reset the game to get a different deck and the other half suffered like me. So I know it's not just me lol. Out of transparency, you should know that we cut SOME of the suffering out of the video. Here's what you missed: a mid-battle cut where I only drew cards and did nothing else, a few fights where I tried to brute force a good starting hand (with zero changes to deck composition or strategy), and a couple rounds of a boss battle where I intentionally lost instead of pressing forfeit. Essentially a bunch of repetitive fluff. I'm doing you guys a favor so you don't have to suffer as much as I did. Thankfully, garbage like that was unique to this part of the recording session.

1:14 clearly each of those are one of the talking cards. Bottom left is the stoat, top left is the stinkbug, borrom right is likely the wolf, and that would leave top right to be the GM guy youve been fighting against the whole game.

@@adamdawood7311 if ouroboros dies - including by sacrifice, which is the important one - it gets a permanent +1/+1. Also had immortal squirrels, so I could sacrifice a *lot* of things in one turn. Bifurcated Strike made things kinda a joke, too. Killed the moon in a turn and a half, and then the second strike killed Lashy.

mage is a cool concept, it all is with the 4 different storylines and card styles, but with 4 spots to play a card, you can't really afford to have 0:1 on the field just to play a 1:1 apprentice card or whatever

I think the idea is that you play the mox, play the things that require them, then destroy them. The mechanic is based on the Land system from MtG in a way. Similarly the energy system of the machines is based on Hearthstone.

The thing about mox cards is that it allows you to play a lot of cards in one turn. This means that were other types need a couple of turns to start up, mox can start very early to stall and later be used to get a lot of bones in one turn.

@@117Ender Every synergy is about luck in the end. To play the bone or blood cards, you must first get lucky and find some cards that cost nothing. Otherwise, you are just a sitting undead duck. Even CP3's energy cells relies on luck on some part, because you still have to get lucky in order to draw your least costing cards first and your high costing cards later. Otherwise, you lost a few turns. Litterally all card games rely on luck. The point of a deck builder is to minimize luck.

Would be interesting. i think it still stands to reason to focus on a single mox color though, makes for better draws and easier summon conditions.

In case anyone didn't notice (cause Tyler managed to speedrun the cabin section) the stinkbug, stoat and stunted wolf are the other Scrybes (Grimora, P03 and Magnificus respectively). They slowly transform in act 1 to look more like their normal appearances, which Tyler did comment on (Stoat's head getting more square and Stinkbug having markings on her face), but got through it too quickly to see the full transformation

I think the problem is that you’re running all 3 gem types at the same time. If you only run one color in your deck then you use 1 spot for the mox and the other 3 spots for your wizards of that color

I'm assuming the game that you started with was a version where the beast inscrypter somehow got the other 3 inscrypters inside of cards, fused them with animals, stole the new game button, and so the guy who owned the game couldn't figure out how to fix it and buried the game and wrote the location of the buried game on a card in a pack, resealed it, and sent it to someone random who opened card packs.

That was my thought as well. Which ruins the horror aspect because the lore tells us the game is just a game. With the first access to the videos I thought it would culminate in entering Leshy's cabin and the game starts there. But no. The characters seem sentient but don't come to life. You're just playing a video game. People can be evil, sure, but the game isn't real life. And I can't even pretend either. Any scary features are dropped after the first act - no more escalating music, no more self-mutilation or fear of being trapped and endlessly sacrificed, no more hands reaching forward to grab and make a pelt out of me. According to the game itself, you can just get up and stop playing the game whenever. And yes, I'm aware of what happens to the main character and that Kaycee's death might not have been an accident but, even then, the characters had nothing to do with it, people did. So the lore tells us there's nothing to fear from the scribes and the game doesn't attempt to keep up the atmosphere either. Completely ruined the experience for me. It's still a good game, just very different from what I expected. I wish it hadn't been marketed as it was. I would have enjoyed it so much more if I hadn't been disappointed by the false advertising.

what's bad with the mage deck is that half more or less cards are the actual resource and therefore you draw less useful cards. Whereas other decks has their resource uninvolved with the core battle or at least the resources are not bog silent useless.

Other than Techno cards, every faction needs mostly useless cards to build resources; skeletons and squirrels take just as many cards as moxes. The real difference is blue mages. Also, half? Seriously? I'm running 7 moxes right now, and that still feels like it might be one too many; I keep them that high so my Blue Mages reliably have at least 2 gems to draw with, and because with an Orange Mage, it's honestly better than skeletons. I recently pulled a Mantis God from my deck because I realized that -- even though I could consistently play it the turn I drew it -- replacing it with an extra blue mage still let me win faster.

It's almost impossible to not win the first part. Every single time you lose(or win) the game gets easier. It's crazy how easy the game gets if you just play it enough times, and the game even forces you to play it at least 3 times. The fourth time through I think it's honestly harder to lose than to win.

I don't know how I feel about this part of the game, specifically the shift into the pixel art/JRPG look and overworld from a 3D escape room. It kinda feels like the devs had two compelling-but-disparate art styles/game concepts and couldn't chose one over the other, so they just decided to mush them together. I think it gets rid of a lot of the horror and two different art styles just kinda clash in context. I think it would've been better if it was either entirely this pixel art style/world OR entirely the 3D cabin/escape room-style game.

OMG I JUST REALISED SOMETHING In the first section of the game, The Stoat and The Stink Bug's portraits changed, and they changed in a way to mimic the 4 Scribes! The Stoat turned into a computer like thing to mimic the Robot Scribe and The Stink Bug changed to represent The Scribe of Death guy. I don't think The Stunted Wolf changed but I think it was to represent the Magic Scribe. Is it maybe the Camera Scribe guy Captured the other 3 with his camera and this is how the game starts?

I could explain what's happening if you have issues following. Without saying anything about the future, but explaining what has happened so far: In Leshy's cabin(the forest in this act) we were trapped playing his game in eternity. 3 of our cards could talk and were the stoat that turned into a tv, the stinkbug that turned into a creepy woman, and the stunted wolf that lacked an eye. We know his camera could make anything into cards so it's pretty obvious the other 3 sages are those cards. The eye we got in the cabin was the eye of the stunted wolf(mage) What we see in act 2 is then the actual original game, and what we began playing was the continuing of someone elses game were leshy had taken over control of the game. Making it in his image. However it's also obvious from the things the talking cards says that this has happened before. And that all the sages have some kind of grudge against each other. Maybe Leshy isn't always the one in control?

Oh, the 4 scribes are the Leshy and the 3 talking cards! The robot one looks a lot like the Stoat who slowly became more square, and the stinkbug is the Necromancer lady, which leaves the Wolf as the Wizard. Since this is a new game, that means what we have been seeing/playing was extremely far into this RPG Card Builder game, and so, I wonder, what caused the Leshy to trap the other scribes? This is getting so much more exciting than I initially thought!

I actually enjoyed playing the mage deck, but I might have just gotten lucky. I used the orange mage to make the Mox less useless and I also got a green mage that lets you use bones to buff it. aside from that I just decreased the amount of Mox cards in my deck and rarely had an issue pulling what I needed. Its easily the least fleshed out deck though, which is the only thing that upset me about it.

Yeah, I also took a while with the mage starter. Once I had a few card packs and realized I should only one of the mox colors, it got a lot better.

Ok, so you know how the stink bug and the stoat changed over time? They were looking like the other card people so maybe the guy with the camera turned the others into cards but they still had sentience. Grimora was the stinkbug P03 was the stoat Maginificus was the wolf

Wait, i realize on the first act(the house of the camera guy) the stoat(that rare cat who can talk) and the stickbug are the two scrybers himselfs, because when you close to the end of the act they begin to transform in they real forms, the cat is the robot(and thats why he all ways says "big mistake"or"bad play" because he is a robot and he know the humans are imperfects and they can loose, very diferent of himself as a pefect form how cant loose), the stickbug is that girl in the bones island, Grimora. But i dont know the other one

If you like overkill damage, theres a way to get infinite overkill in this stage. using the fieldmice, a skeleton spawner(pay a bone to get a skeleton) and a bone heap(pay 2 bones to get +1 +1), you an use the fieldmice by summoning 2 skeletons, you get a new mice and get back 2 bones, now you can take 2 more skeletons and summon another mice by sacrificing 1 skeleton and the 1st mice. repeat for infinite bones and thus infinite damage

The main mistake with the mage deck is that you don't need this much mox mages, it's like in the Magic the Gathering, try to build around 1 or maybe 2 colours of gems and build the sauce around them, also don't overflow your deck with cards, the more cards you have - the less the chance of getting the specific cards you want. Also i really like how the start of the game uses 2 of the 4 of the resource mechanics that are unique to the game (at least i don't know those games if they exist) and form the horror atmosphere using themes of sacrifice and death, and the other 2 are direct references to existing card collection games Hearthstone and MtG, that are introduced together with the ccg mechanic.

Title should be Warning: The Game Is No More Fun :( About mage deck: I went Circle moxes and blue mages (that's a unit that draws cards) to circle through my deck and have free sacrifices for blood/beast units because mage units are free as long as you have the mox needed! The trick is to go only 1 mox color and something else as secondary like blood or bone units! Hope it helps!

I think the 4 characters at 1:14 were the things that the talking cards were turning into, I bet if the game had gone on longer the wolf would have turned into the bottom right. And the top right is the main enemy from the start.

Fun fact: The STOAT is P03, as he has more card game knowledge, hates everyone and Leshy says that he would fit into the face of a STOAT. But the other ones aren't as clear in this playtrough. See, if you get the blob and go visit it at the shelf (obtainable like a normal item after you get the crystal eye), he will say that you have the eye of his master Magnificus, and tge other one is the one that the STUNTED WOLF has. And the STINKBUG starts to look somewhat like a woman like Grimora, but that's discarding at this point
