I was at York that day with my youngest son I remember turning to him as they came up the straight and said Queallys cruising how far is this going to be ? I saw Frankel several times in the flesh and he never failed to impress. I was lucky enough to meet Sir Henry on a stable visit the year before. He absolutely loved that horse. I'm sure it helped him keep going. A great horse trained by a wonderful man who's much missed.

A truly memorable day for so many reasons & I'm sure most people who were there on that incredible day hold some very special memories. Frankel already a living legend having won every race he had ever ran in high class races 😮most won in incredible fashion making high class rivals look ordinary another legend was Frankel's trainer the brilliant stylish Sir Henry Cecil despite being very unwell had arranged with his doctors to take his medication at certain times thus allowing him to see Frankel during his 3 year old career. Prince Khaled Abdullah of Judmonte Farms the race sponsor and owner of Frankel had supported racing in Britain Ireland and across the world for decades and owned many top class horses...but in Frankel his Royal Highness knew from a very early age that he was something very exceptional and special. Tom Queally a talented rider but not a jockey who would regularly be riding the top horses in the top races but Tom was Frankel's jockey and what he did on Frankel is quite remarkable the pressure to win and keep winning must have been overwhelming at times but if he was feeling it, it never ever showed apart from the release of emotion and joy after crossing the winning line. It shows the real class of most people in racing when pre race James Magnier the giant owner from the Ballydoyle team of Aidan O'brien had approached Judmonte racing manager Edward 'Teddy' Beckett aka Lord Grimthorpe to tell him what their 3 runners would be doing in the race especially St Nicholas Abbey in other words no funny stuff which was hugely appreciated. What a performance arguably Frankel's finest especially over the extra distance what a welcome by the York crowd full and sincere appreciation for the horse his great trainer owner jockey....❤

I was on the rail about half a furlong out. Shows you it's not a great place to watch a race as I thought he'd been a bit workmanlike until I saw the replay 😂
