I don’t understand when people say they’ll wear whatever they want because they’re paying so much money on their Trip. (Of course some people have important health reasons for wearing certain shoes). That’s irrelevant. It’s about respect and etiquette for a particular country or city. Just as you would look awkward wearing shorts and a tank top to a fancy wedding reception you may look out of place in a foreign city or turned away at some tourist places like churches for not being prepared with proper attire. These videos are so helpful as reminders why or why not to do some things! Thank you!

On your heels, I bought a beautiful pair of Spanish heels long time ago, the bottom part was decorative metal. If done properly, you can match to front hardware, it will look pretty, and you can wear your beautiful Guccis once again!

I have gone shopping with Anastasiya in both Rome and New York City, and cannot recommend her enough! In Rome, we did high end boutiques one day and I got the most amazing shoes, and a spectacular vegan leather dress and amazing suit, plus many other lovely things. Another Roman outing we did Vintage, and she helped score some amazing deals. In NYC, she helped me style my 15yo daughter, and my cousin as well. She is a gem, and you would be lucky to spend the day shopping with her!

Agree with all your rules - my mother was Italian and drilled them into me. However, about the hat. I suffer from heat stroke - a little bit of sunshine on my head and I am on the ground, unconscious. So I do have to wear a hat to protect myself in the summer and even in the late spring/early fall. It's a Roman hat, so still fabulous.

When I worked in Tuscany I wore flip flops and to my surprise it upset a couple of my co-worker guys. Girls I can maybe understand but guys? I didn't care because it was a hot summer and we were computer programmers. They asked me to up the standard of the group which I could have understood if there had been anything important to represent. Then I upset them even more when in the mornings I would bring a brown paper bag of cherry tomatoes and eat them as my desk. They were as sweet as fruit, from Sicily, the best tomatoes I have ever had to this day. So, yes, no flip flops and no cherry tomatoes in a bag at work if you care about what they will think of you.

Dress and style are relative, so no problem in having once own dressing style. Specially for tourists, they come to see the city and place and bother less about being style-conscious its a total mood kill during vacations. Why would anyone give a damn about someone having flip flops. Really people are so full of fashion and show off, when its not universal thing and keeps changing.
@StayFabulousTL
@StayFabulousTL 3 жыл бұрын
Anil, I agree with you that everyone has their own style and if someone wants to wear flip flops in the city, it is certainly NOT a big deal. However, by being a stylist for many-many years I can assure you that most people want to learn about "fashion etiquette" of the country they are traveling to, especially when it comes to countries like Italy. It has nothing to do with showing off but rather a desire to look and therefore feel your best, especially on a vacation in a foreign country. Most people would gladly avoid some common "fashion mistakes" if they knew about them ahead of time. And thats what this video is about.

Yes, Ashleigh. As I said, in certain parts of the cities you can get away with it, especially when you know your route and plan on walking 5-10 minutes at most. But if you are here as a tourist and exploring all day, you will be walking on cobblestones most of the time. We have to remember that the lifestyle of a local and a tourist is completely different. If an Italian decides to wear heels, she certainly isn't planning being of foot all day discovering the city.

Thats fantastic! I moved to Italy many years ago just for the love of Italy🇮🇹❤️ This is such an exciting time for you! It all depends on the job you are interviewing for of course. I definitely suggest to come to Italy a couple of days prior, if possible, and have a stylist put some looks together for you. First of all, because for Italians look matter A LOT. Second, because Italian style is obviously different from other places in the world. And third, so you can have a few looks that you can easily mix and match for work in the future. I do this all the time here in Rome for my clients from all over the world. It definitely worth it, especially in a country like Italy where style is everything.

Ok, it's OT but I wonder: have you seen Chernobyl tv series? Or has your mother? What's her and your opinion about it?

I haven't seen it yet. But its a very sad memory for all Ukrainians. No one told us what happened, so that day we were all outside and only later we found out the terrible news. Thank God I was in the part of Ukraine that was far away from Chernobyl, but it obviously spread with the wind and reached far beyond Ukrainian boarders. I am very sad for people and I personally know some one of them who are living with the consequences, like cancer, of that disaster.

@@StayFabulousTL Ukrainian firemen, volunteers and Ukrainian and Belarusian scientists were just heroes in succeeding not to get the problem worse (and making it the most powerful atomic bomb in human history). I was just a child, but I remember that for a certain period some vegetables were banned even in Italy and years later a study detected a high level of radiations on the Alps attributable to Chernobyl disaster.

And you don't have to. Italians are actually very casual about showing a little skin. Just be modest when visiting churches. A light shawl will do for the top and a knee length skirt is fine.

Oh no, don't worry. We, italians, are quite tollerants. There are some practical reasons behind these recomandations. Just few examples. As you probably know our city centers are historical, designed centuries ago for pedestrians and horses. Than you can't use your nice pick up but you have to walk a lot, probably on bricks or stones. Try to do it with flip flop or on heels and suddely you will understand that how is better to use comfortable shoes.

Yeah 🌟I think she means to cover your booty which I like to do with a semi-fitted tunic that goes in at the waist & aways skims over my bust but covers my buttocks and my tummy in my hips😅 I guess if you're in top-notch form, you want to show those things but Italy they don't think that's very modest. SO there you go😉
