Mark, This was an awesome video. I watch a lot of these to get ideas and tips and most times I’m disgusted with the presenters because its clear they are clueless and just guessing (trial and error) when demonstrating their projects. It was very clear from the first 60 seconds that you Sir are truly a master craftsmen and apply math and logic to your projects. As an Engineer myself I was “Glued” to your video. I will make contact when I decide to attempt this one. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with everyone. -Tim

There are no glass fibers coming out from the top surface? You don't need an extra thin concrete layer without fiber glass so that fibers do not appear on the surface? How do you deal with this problem?
@TrinicLLC4 ай бұрын
The reason you don't get glass fibers in the face coat is because they have a lower specific gravity than the sand and cement. So when you pour the mix into the mold the fibers float up away from the face. You could also replace the AR glass fibers with PVA fibers to make an ECC mix. PVA fibers aren't visible to the naked eye after casting. PVA fibers are dosed at about 1/2 the rate of AR glass, but cost 2x.

@TrinicLLC3 жыл бұрын
We do sell the polyurethane rubber to make the mold. That only needs to be about 1/2”-3/4 thick and will last for close to 1,000 casts if you are careful with it. The support for the mold you would need to make stronger to take the weight of 4”. Also why so thick when you can use GFRC and do it at 1” and make it look like it is 4”?
@bennettjones96963 жыл бұрын
It's the center support for a 24"×48" outdoor coffee table, in the shape of a university mascot, thats small on bottom, and wide on top. I do oval and rectangular tops and bottoms. Top thickness is 2" with wire mesh reinforcement. Bottom, which is 18"×36", is 2.5" thick, reinforced with wire mesh. Think of a bull head with Horns. My goal is to lighten it up. I tried a pink foam board center, with 1" cast all around, which made it light, but didn't pass a strength test. All 3 I made in testing failed. I'm currently using pink foam board for my molds, which are 1 time use.
