Magnificent! I have an old rusty offset and thought it was done for. This fixed the firebox lid not closing all the way. Thanks mate!

I just did this with mine the other night. Used my fire poker for the rod / fulcrum. The door was already sticking up like that when I got it new, ten years ago, but now it's sitting flush and tight. Almost no leakage now. Really made a huge difference in control. Who knew, all these years I just needed a fulcrum and a gentle push or two to fix it?

That's so funny! Such a simple fix, right? I'm glad this worked out for you!

Tony , Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for taking the time to make a video in 109-degree heat ! OUCH .....I was struggling with fire management on a new stick burner, and this video helped me a lot. I just bought the BBQ gasket tape as my gifted used Yoder had smoke coming out of the entire back area

Hey! Thank you so much for your comment! Sorry I missed responding 8 months ago. I'm glad my videos are helpful! Comments like yours make cooking in 109 degree weather worth it. Smoke on my friend!

I did this and the lid closes. But, now there is a large gap on the top of the lid where the heat now escapes. You fix one issue but then it creates an even worse problem
@TonyToneBBQ9 ай бұрын
What did you use, a broomstick? I've done this on two of my offsets with a long screwdriver and no extra gap was created. Maybe there's something wrong with your lid.
@andrewwatt87269 ай бұрын
@@TonyToneBBQ Nope. Used a long screwdriver just like you did. Could be the metal getting too hot over time, not sure. Im gonna reseal it with lavalock gasket. But, unfortunately will still be a gap along the top

Great information Tony! Is there any reason you stop doing your weekly cooking videos? Are you going a different way with the channel? I miss the videos.😊

Thank you so much! Honestly, between the regular day job and an abnormally high number of family events, I just haven't had time to do the videos. I'm working on more now though and will try to get more loaded. Thanks again! I appreciate you!

What side wood splits do you use for that grill ? Do you cut and split the wood yourself
@TonyToneBBQ2 жыл бұрын
What's up DJ Cut?! Great question! Thanks for asking. I cover this and I show exactly how I cut and split my wood in a video I recently posted. I'll leave a link below. Please let me know if you watch it and let me know if you have any more questions. I cover a lot in this video but if you want to skip to the part about cutting and splitting, jump to about 19 minutes in. Thanks for watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3_Gm2htgrh3fpo

Was talking to a co worker about where he got wood from in. He mentioned in the past he has bought bundles directly from local bbq restaurants. Thought that was a decent idea. Usually cheaper than buy from stores as well.
@TonyToneBBQ2 жыл бұрын
@@johnbowman4844 that's cool, if the restaurant has a big enough supply to sell some of it. Definitely depends on the area. Thanks for the tip!

Char grillers are pieces of crap, just finished my first season. Held my temp at 300 degrees ( not the 450 that char griller recommends) and my paint melted off my fire box. Already tried Rust-Oleum high heat for grills and that came off as well
@TonyToneBBQ6 ай бұрын
Mine too, the paint peeled off of my Smokin Champ's firebox during the seasoning. The paint has not peeled off off of my Grand Champ XD, anywhere. Considering my Smokin Champ cost me $200, it didn't bother me and I actually expected it. I sprayed it with Rust-oleum Engine Block paint and it never peeled off again. Although it didn't look as pretty when the paint peeled off, it had no effect on it's cooking performance so again... for as low a price as it was, it didn't bother me.

@TonyToneBBQ4 ай бұрын
@@thatguysalbbl3270 Yeah, it's a very common issue caused by that lid heating up from being right above the fire. Just gotta bend it back in place. Should work well! Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
