I believe that taking the extra time to get everything set up and looking ahead for possible problems makes a big difference in how smoothly your weaving is going to go. Loved the video and will greatly need this information for the future. Thanks.

It's so funny that you are finishing up some almost finished projects too! I don't know what it is about this season this year but I have felt like I need to do a sort of spring cleaning. I've been trying to finish up projects or frog them if I am not happy with them and generally just trying to do some crafting clean up. My first task was to tackle the almost done stuff that I stopped working on for whatever reason (some of them years old even!) I managed to finish up 2 so far!
@FiberLoveDiary
@FiberLoveDiary 2 жыл бұрын
For me, I think it might be thinking about the end of the year. I am not somebody that usually thinks of it as some sort of deadline or end/beginning but I do start thinking about taxes, and planning for the next year so I think it drives me to finish things up.

As someone who is mostly here for the spinning and knitting that looks so complicated and intimidating… but also you all are enablers and I’ve gotten a second hand RHL. The only heddle that came with it is a 7.5 DPI but I’m working on my first scarf and it’s been fun seeing it come together. Can wait to pull it off and see how it turns out.

Thanks for sharing this different warping method! I can see how threading the reed would help keep the threads all orderly rather than just using a raddle. But the whole unthreading and then rethreading the reed after doing the heddles makes my head want to find another way. Heddle threading is my struggle.

It's very similar to the Scandinavian way to warp ... I have a Glimåkra Julia and it's how the directions are written to warp it. The only difference I noticed was how you transfered the cross to the back of the loom ... on the Julia i only lift the lease stick nearest the reed on end and it gives a shed behind then I place the 1st stick in there then once 1st stick is removed i turn the 2nd stick on end and transfer the cross... the treads all lift up when the lease stick is raised. Hope you understand what I mean. Great video!

Those towels are going to be beautiful. I look forward to seeing them when you are done. Altho I am intrigued with the shuttle part of weaving, I doubt I could make myself do all that prep. Whenever you said you were going to sley the heddles, all I could see was “slay”. 🤣 I do enjoy the prep for preparing fiber for spinning, but just not feeling the calling for weaving prep ;p. Thanks for showing this method. I'm a fairly new weaver and I am always interested in seeing all the different ways of doing things. I used to do a similar method but I have recently tried warping back to front method that I learned from the Jane Stafford online classes. So far I like that method best but I have only done it once so we'll see. Anyway, I have the same Harrisville loom as you and I am currently making some improvements to it. I am replacing those ribbons on the back and front roller beams with texsolv cord. I was also wondering about replacing the leather cords that raise and lower the shafts with texsolv like I see you have in the video. Do you like them and do they work well? My shafts with the leather cords, chains, and hooks on the side get tangled up fairly often when I'm weaving. I also want to put texsolv on the treadles. Thanks for all your videos, I learn so much from your channel.
@FiberLoveDiary

The Texsolv seems to work really well on the shafts and treadles. I got it used and it was set up this way. Isn't it a relief to find a way that works well for you?
