What I don’t understand is, on one hand we are told the stock market will crash and yet on the other we are told ways of investing in the stock market. Oxymoron or paradox? I'm considering investing over 150k, but I'm uncertain about risk mitigation strategies.

There are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Teresa L. Athas” for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look her up.

Agreed. I personally believe Berkshire will be in the top 5 highest valued company in the US in the future. Berkshire will become the insurance alternative to equities in my opinion. Charlie is greatly missed! My eyes weren't dry when Warren said "Charlie?" accidentally when he meant to say "Greg?". Having said I really missed Charlie, I think Warren is known to make all the important decisions (good and bad ones) without waiting for nor requiring Charlie's approval. Still, it was so nice to having Charlie as sounding board or to chat when Warren needed and vice versa (re BYD and Costco all those years ago).

Yes, unfortunately it seems Buffett has largely ignored almost everything Charlie recommended over the last 10 years. Mohnish Pabrai mentioned several times that Charlie seemed very frustrated with Buffett’s capital allocation over the last many years. I guess that is what happens when you are the junior partner, and Buffett the senior partner holds all the real power. I had a great admiration for Charlie and learned far more from him compared to Warren.

@@sakakaka4064 The insistence on holding excessive amounts of cash. And the refusal to purchase meaningful amounts of even the most conservative investment, Berkshire’s own shares. Not buying Google, Costco etc. Even to purchase the BYD investment, Charlie was told “no” numerous times, and was only given a relatively small amount of capital for the investment.
