It's about constantly investing and reinvesting and not to mention people keep on buying shares of his company BH like it's idiotic, they reinvest everything and do not give any dividends. Depending on what kind of an investor are you but if you do it for income this is a bullshit investment. This is why he gets richer and richer. Sure the value goes up but what's point if you don't get money for owning it a.k.a dividends.

I am missing something PLEASE HELP!! Where does the interest from a stock come from besides dividends? You say 7% annually. If price grows 7% every year but you don’t sell, what compounds? It does not sound like it but do you sell the stock every year to get the gains then buy again to reinvest and compound the initial investment plus the gains?

Brandon The direction of value investing is actually aiming for "compounding interest". Compounding interest is actually talking about compounding dividend. A growth stock which consistently pay dividends, consists of “Intrinsic Value Compounding” and “Dividend Compounding”. Rather than saying “Intrinsic Value Compounding” is being invented, i would say that “Intrinsic Value Compounding” is rather a discovery of a buried compounding inherited in a consistently growing stock. Nobody knows there is so called “intrinsic value compouding” except Buffett, Munger and Li Lu. I am very sure about this argument. If you want to have a breakthrough in the new value investing, i suggest you start to do research on “Intrinsic Value Compounding". Logic and reasoning are utmost important. Hope you found the way to reveal the right formula of “Intrinsic Value Compounding”. Cheers

when dividends are paid out to investors that actually dilutes ownership in the company. Mature companies do this when they have more cash flow coming in over the amount that can be successfully invested back in the business to expand. When a company does not pay a dividend that equity is kept on the balance sheet or re-invested in the business in order to expand. As the company expands so does is market cap and your share price. So the short answer to your question is no.

Great motivator Brandon... The power of compounding is quite simply, brilliant. Probably a good idea to remind your subs of this once every few months or so. Think about this for a minute folks... How long will it take you to grow your portfolio to 10-times its current size? Quite a while right. Then consider this... Once you get there, it will only take a double from there to grow by the same amount again. Not nearly so imposing to think about. Cheers...

in stocks is this where lets say you invest in tesla and you are sitting at a profit of say 500usd. is compounding where you take the 500 dollar profit and reinvest it back into the stock at where the stock price is sitting? or is it simply putting more money into the same stock consistently.

It is more like, you have to make sure you cover the inflation rate and remove the premium. For example you get 6% return after tax, you remove 4% and keep 2% to keep up with inflation. Therefore those 4% cash return remain on the current level of prices. The only thing we can do is outrun inflation, we cannot stop it.

Correct me if I’m wrong but stocks do not compound. You don’t get returns on your returns. Your investment in a stock can only appreciate or depreciate in value. I’ve looked at my stock portfolio and the percentage gained is calculated from my initial investment which then provides me with my daily return. If there is compounding occurring, please explain how?

Hey. I don't need inspiration. I need instruction. Please help me with this. I'm on eToro with the Cysec regulation so I can invest on real assets. Now, how do I apply the compound interest? Let's say I want to perfom a 6% monthly earning. Do I open a stock for $100 and when it comes to $106 I close it up and reopen it with a value of $106 or do I open a new operation for a value of $106 without closing up the first one? Please have in mind that the minimum value that I can deposit on a stock at eToro it's $50. Would really appreciate if you clarify this for me.

Most people don’t have excess money to throw into the market for compound investing. Most people also want to live the best years of their lives (30-55). Here is something long term investors don't consider. What is the opportunity cost in terms of quality of life? One could potentially have more fun with $10k at 30 years old than they could with $300k at 80 years old. What if they are bedridden, senile, or dead at that age? Also, this doesn't factor inflation and $300k in 50 years will buy one much less. Investment is great, but don't forget to have fun in life along the way.

Because trading is not investing, it's making a quick buck. As a swing trader I understand the difference between trading and investing

2:15 It’s a bit of fallacy to assume that those whose strategy is based on compound interest are “unlike a trader”, due to short v/s long term thinking. The difference between a good trader and a compound interest investor is only “passive” versus “active” income. One compounds passive interest, while the other compounds active profit. Actively profiting should never take as long as passively waiting for interest. Of course, this does not need to have to do with trading stocks or intangibles, but can, perhaps more effectively, involve trading tangible goods, etc. I think the commenter just feels that the narrator has overlooked the ability to compound profit via trading.

my biggest beef is that what's the money for when you are old and grey? for your kids? what if you don't have any? that's why i want to be rich now, not when i'm 75. and to do that i just can't do 7% return. i gotta have 20%+ return every year. and that's why i'm riding tesla stock to the moon. - brought to you buy tesla long around the world.

It is easy, most people don't have the discipline to do it. Easy going up, panic at the first burp and sell. Buy a little VOO every single month and forget it. Ups, Downs, ignore it all, just keep buying a little every month and don't panic.

Here’s the problem is you’re making assumptions there will be a positive rate of return which is outrageous. There are no more promised rate of returns any more because there is no longer a cost to capital in the world. So many investors are fools because they work on the premise that just because the sp had a nice return last year that it will continue to do so. Look at the market indexes in the early part of the century where markets traded side ways for 40 years or so only problem is at least in those times you could get a real rate of return for your capital on bonds. It dosnt exist any more and government has literally destroyed the current financial system. I will stick to gold for the simple fact that equity’s are way overvalued and holding my money in a money market or a bond is promising my self to take a hair cut on buying power. At least with gold I’m not promised to take that haircut and gold reacts well when confidence is being lost. Negative interest rates is a loss in confidence.

demon66685 I’m going to regret not putting my money in markets that are at all time historic highs? There’s no value to be had. If you really think markets have a lot more upside than I would hate to hold the currency the equity is denominated in.

demon66685 that’s true that historic highs happen regularly But not year after year consecutively during one expansion cycle. I love our country and look forward to being in equity’s again but only after the next business cycle and once the fundamentals start looking a little better and sustainable.

demon66685 I may be wrong and the next 20 years we might not of had a significant bear market and that’s alright I’m comfortable in my position. I’m well capitalized in cash and gold. You might get a better return than me but I’ll be fine either way.

The issue with your model is no one wants the millions in thier 70's and 80's we want it in out 30's 40's and 50's so the only way to do that is to risk take initially then get safer in orfer to skip years.Im 30 and have $10,000 I would not swap places with warren and be in me 70's with 50 billion
