bonus, the game she plays with the string is called cat's cradle: there's a set amount of patterns you must complete in a certain order or the string gets tangled, falls apart, and the game ends. i'm sure it was chosen for the multitude of stylistic possibilities but it's so fun to consider that athena takes a lot of pleasure in it BECAUSE it's so fixed. that characteristic becomes indicative of the mold she intends to fit odysseus to--his path is set, and it's set by athena!!

I feel the song is very out of place in the musical. It feels like it belongs either right at the start to stablish both Odysseus and Athena, or at some point in the first saga at least. It being in the middle of the second saga feels really weird because Athena is just telling Odysseus to not disappoint her in a very weird moment and then they just argue when he refuses to kill the Cyclops. I think if it goes to stage or movie, it may get moved around by some producer's input.

While i agree that having the song right after the horse and the infant would be very interesting, you make it seem as if warrior of the mind happens randomly when it is established fairly early on. Like i get preffering to have the song being earlier on, but it isnt in the middle of the second saga at all.

It would show his devotion at the beginning, then in open arms his devotion would slip, and by remember them his devotion would finally fall as he does an emotional and unwise act of defiance. But, the setup we have currently works just as well.

This is SO good! A lot of artists kinda forget the shitty, menacing, undertones of this song because young Ody and Athena are so cute. Like, Athena is unironically _awful_ in this part of the musical. She is a cruel, shitty, person, obsessed with her own ego and treating mortals like pawns to aggrandize her self. But you managed to find that perfect balance of still making their first meeting absolutely adorable while also keeping the underlying threat with the blood Athena played a very direct role in putting on Ody’s hands.

I love how _handsy_ your version of Athena is. I adore all versions of her where she tends to be aloof and distant, never touching anyone unless she must. But she has no problem caressing his face, like he really does belong to her and is something to mold and design. And it’s apparent when Odysseus wraps his arm around her as they walk and she removes it. It’s just absolutely fascinating how your take emphasized this dynamic for them, and he even seems angry and frustrated with what she demands of him, even as his patron goddess. Also, this adds some dimension to how she is a daughter of Zeus. If both he and Athena commanded Odysseus to kill the baby, it would not only corner his morals further, but highlight that all the gods are ruthless to the extreme. Also, because I enjoyed it so much, Odysseus mouthing along with Athena and what she says to his past self is reminiscent to his own bloodline connected to Hermes. I saw your WIP a couple weeks ago and seeing this is gorgeous. Excellent animatic!

OH I love all the thread-of-life stuff! Athena weaving it into different shapes (because she IS a weaver, among other things!!!) especially the hourglass bringing flashback!Odysseus back in time. And present!Ody reminiscing in the tree, mouthing along with Athena's words. And the detail of there _not_ being two versions of Athena, past and present, like there are with Ody-- it's _the same Athena,_ handily demonstrating her godlike omnipresence!

Honestly, I think the period of the animatic after Athena appears and before she drags him into the memory is the best part! Odysseus looking at her with mixed feelings (mostly resentment) and Athena going to wipe some blood off of his face but stopping herself in order to get down to business.

I love how you played into Odysseus being a cunning dude because he is! The sequence of Greek pillars from 2:45 and beyond was beautiful, where Odysseus moved around the falling pillars but still needed Athena's help as his mentor. You also have taken place in my favorite 3 Athena designs, well done!

Okay this one is joins the ranks of one of the best Epic animatics! I love the change of scene and having it be Athena that shows up in the infent scene, OR it can also be read as Odysseus having a dream about it given how the landscape looks. Its also wonderful to see the inclusion of Athenas other themes like weeving and arts, and the dynamic between her her and Odysseus is great! She does pull the cold,stoic teacher vibes yes, but you can also see theres quite a bond there, especially with how they act when she shows him the boar hunt. And ofcourse fantastic art style and character design on your part, wonderful stuff ❤

This just popped in my youtube page and I was like, wait a minute, I recognize the artstyle, and yeah it was from that one wip I saw so long ago and I was like woah, full circle. KZbin (finally) did one thing right But the whole thread thingy, athena shaping it to her liking (yk, making a warrior of the mind) was so cool (it's like she isn't a player, she's a puppeteer) And the chess thingy, I think I've said it before, but it's so cool! I love it! I love all of it actually Three other things (and a half) that really stood out to me: Athena manhandling Ody, grabbing him by the neck and -drowning- sinking him in A+quickthought?/his memories/memory lane??? (idk how to describe it lmao, he's technically already in quickthought?) Not gonna lie I completely forgot the animatic you posted was a wip, this looks SO good. Also I dont mine the placement stuff too much. Its pretty cool to think of this song taking place between THatI and Just a Man, making it less of a song where Athena shoots down Polites' philosophy of greeting people with open arms, and more so one where shes telling Odysseus he needs to remember he is a soldier, a person who needs to put aside his personal feelings for the greater good.

I also love the whole string symbolism and the way you expanded Athena’s ability of controlling time! Odysseus and Athena are so adorable, I love his wit when defeating the boar and how his older self mouths along with Athena. I love how Odysseus is struggling with his morality even with the memory of the boar, I honestly think this song fits even better in the context of just a man- This is genuinely so creative and amazing, thank you for this!!

I am feeling a lot of feelings about this glorious animatic! Weaving treads to use her powers? Great visual and a very unique take on the way her shtick works. Ody being shown killing the boar with quick wit and improvisation, leaning even more than other takes into the whole "warrior of the mind" idea is great, as is all the fancy things Athena does to show off. Now, for the flavor stuff that I really love? Present Ody actually being there to see past Ody, and being like "Two can play this game~" as Athena sings, remembering the moment fondly, the fact that the whole palace thing looks like a huge crib and the only thing we see inside it is Odysseus and the baby's crib, the fact that Athena makes herself out as a giant playing with Odysseus, making things harder or easier for him without even blinking, yet he's out there with his life on the line. Overall, love it!
