Canadians also fought and died in that war. They are rarely mentioned, if ever. My young 21 yr. old uncle died in Jan. '53. Then, 40,000 Canadians enlisted in the American Military and fought and died in Vietnam. Bless all soldiers and their families. They are not forgotten. ❤

My dad's cousin was KIA in the Korean conflict and his body never recovered. They were raised together in the same house with my family, where I also was raised partially from when I was a baby. My great aunt, who lost her only child in Korea, was always so kind and loving to me and my younger sister. She passed away over 35 years ago never knowing what happened to her only child. I remember her very well, and her loving kindness for my sister and I. She suffered so much in this world between war and abuse. Aunt Ann, I remember and love you, and I know that one day we will all be together again in joy that words cannot describe. ❤

McArthur was warned not to approach the Yalu river his arrogance and contempt for the chinese army caused the defeat of the 8th Army and the longest retreat in U.S. history the US 2nd Infantry Division had suffered 4,037 casualties was deemed to be crippled The real tragedy was the soldiers and wounded left behind begging not to be left the dead frozen in the way they died thrown into mass graves and covered over. "BUG OUT Fever" Col. Faith had intelligence from two captured chinese soldiers that RCT31 was facing a division possibly a division and a half Faith informed Gen Almond of the situation and Almond told them not to be afraid of bunch of chinese laundry men A soldier in RCT31 from my hometown went missing at chosin and his remains were finally found and returned in 2020 and another one from our county is still listed MIA at kunu-ri

They didnt have proper equipment be cause the command didnt think the chinese would enter the fight the North Koreans were defeated McArthur's march to the Yalu and home by Christmas was in everyone's mind The high morale caused a degradation of troop discipline, and most of the soldiers had discarded their equipment and ammunition supply before the battle. A rifle company from the US IX Corps, started its advance with most of the helmets and bayonets thrown away, and there were on average less than one grenade and 50 rounds of ammunition carried per man. all elements of the 8th Army started the offensive with a shortage of winter clothing , MacArthur and staff made one of the worst military intelligence blunders in U.S. Army history Ignoring reports of contact with CCF all in all leading to the defeat of the 8th army the longest retreat in US history the US 2nd Infantry Division had suffered 4,037 casualties, lost most of its artillery pieces, 40 percent of its signal equipment, 45 percent of its crew-served weapons, 30 percent of its vehicles were all lost during the battle, thus the US 2nd Infantry Division was deemed to be crippled Reply

Thank god that I wasn't born that times. I'm a real Korean born in 2009, and my great-grandfather died in the war as a soldier. My great-grandmother is still alive at age 97, and she told me that her family lived in Pyeongyang, which is the capital of North Korea right now. When war broke out, Her family went to south. And plus, the war hasn't 'ENDED' yet. The war stopped in 1953, and there are still plenty of american soldiers here. There were some North-Korea attacks like 'Rangoon Bombing' in 1983, armed guerilla attack in 1996, first and second battle of Yeon-pyeong in 1999 and 2002 and Bombardment of Yeonpyeong Island in 2010. We have an annual civil defense training even nowadays, and we even had a mis-alert because of North's satellite launch. Anyways, Thank you for all the soldiers on Earth fought in 1950 to support South Korea, and rest in peace for 5 million people who died in the war.

At aboot 4 min mark, the narrator somehow made it sounds like there was no mass bloodshed between WW and the Korean conflict. That's how they elided it over when I was in public school. I haven't and won't do the exact numbers, but I have a feeling there was an on-par casualty rate in the years 1945 to 1963.

Too bad the sound is so bad. Still don’t understand why folks keep calling this “the forgotten war” because it figures so prominently in world history after WW 2 and the Cold War that almost led to a Third World War and a nuclear war at that! Plus, many nations participated in Korea fighting to contain communism from just about every continent IIRC. And how do you call it “forgotten” if it’s still an on-going conflict? Who hasn’t heard of the little rocket dictator and his missiles being fired around Japan and the Pacific plus his threats of nuclear war if his country is attacked? A person would have to be quite uneducated to not have heard of the Korean War!

I really did not want to, but I had to dislike the video. You have very poor quality of production. please, lower the background noises of gunfire and artillery when the narrator is talking, and also in general it is very loud and distracting. It would also serve you well to cut down on the intro time since 4 min is too long for a dramatic introduction.

I know the whole story of why the number of dead was changed. They claim world wide casualties were included in the Korean war dead and injured numbers during the war years.. The real reason is because korean vets were finally getting recognized for their sacrifice And Vietnam vets were getting taken out of the constant spotlite they were under witch they did not like. Because 54000 Americans died in 3 years in Korea compared to 58000 in nam in over 10 years. It was the Vietnam vets that pushed to have the Korean war casualties numbers changed. In particular one of the authors of VFW magazine I can't recall his name it's to many years ago now. Their were many Vietnam vets in just the right positions to leverage the government in to changing the figures. I'm sure I will get alot of people attacking me for this!! But the facts are all their follow the trail!!! The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

So it seems to me, what this documentary is implying, that we should have just turned South Korea over to the Communists. Because the cost was to high. You better believe the cost was high, and terrible. But we had done that, then all of Korea would look just like North Korea. With all it's monstrous, barbaric, and horrific treatment of it's people. I just can't see letting that happen. The Korean was a noble effort. It was terrible as all war is horrifically terrible. But at least the people of South Korea are not enslaved, and starving!!
