Pałac Saski to klasycystyczny pałac, który znajdował się przy dzisiejszym Placu Marszałku Józefa Piłsudskiego w Warszawie. Pierwotnie na miejscu pałacu stał dwór Tobiasza Morsztyna. Jego spadkobierca Jan Andrzej Morsztyn na miejscu dworu i części Wału Zygmuntowskiego wybudował po 1661 roku piętrowy barokowy pałac z czterema wieżami. W 1713 roku kupił go August II Mocny z saskiej dynastii Wettynów. Wtedy pałac został pierwszy raz rozbudowany. W 1763 roku, po śmierci Augusta III, gmach przestał być rezydencją królewską, ale pozostał w rękach elektorów saskich, aż do 1816 roku. Następnie pałac zajmował rząd Królestwa Polskiego. W XIX wieku obiekt był kilka razy sprzedawany. W latach 1864-1915 zajmowała go armia Imperium Rosyjskiego. Po odzyskaniu niepodległości przez Polskę w Pałacu Saskim siedzibę swoją miał Sztab Generalny Wojska Polskiego. W roku 1923 przed budynkiem stanął pomnik księcia Józefa Poniatowskiego, a w 1925 odsłonięto Grób Nieznanego Żołnierza. Został zniszczony przez wojska niemieckie w grudniu 1944 roku.
Archaeological works related to the reconstruction of the Saski Palace are underway. The film shows the shots of Piłsudski Square, work on discovering the old basements of the Saski Palace (excavators are working to excavate the soil) and additionally the Saski Park and the Changing of the Guard in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The Saxon Palace is a classicist palace located at today's Marshal Józef Square Piłsudski in Warsaw. Originally, the mansion of Tobias Morsztyn stood on the site of the palace. His heir, Jan Andrzej Morsztyn on the site of the manor house and part of the Zygmunt Embankment after 1661, he built a two-story baroque palace with four towers. In 1713 he bought it him August II the Strong of the Saxon Wettin dynasty. It was then that the palace was extended for the first time. In 1763, after the death of August III, the building ceased to be a royal residence, but remained in the hands of Saxon electors until 1816. Then the palace was occupied by the Kingdom government Polish. In the 19th century, the building was sold several times. In the years 1864-1915 she occupied it is the army of the Russian Empire. After Poland regained independence in the Saski Palace the seat of the General Staff of the Polish Army was located. In 1923, it was erected in front of the building a monument to Prince Józef Poniatowski, and in 1925 the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was unveiled. It was destroyed by the German army in December 1944.
