...@blacksorrento... ...yes, definitely... ...there was a sense of apprehension in those days, life was at the very edge of disaster, never knowing when an enemy attack would happen... ...think of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and effect it had on the general population of the USA...

@@miklosernoehazy8678 The attack on Pearl Harbour led to America’s formal entry into WWII, prior to that they were just sort of helping out. Yes this sort of dancing was akin to a safety release valve. They needed it at this point in time.

Yes, considering what they were dealing with, there seems to be a kind of desperate exuberance to it. But it was also the coolest dancing, and it looks like it was a lot of fun. The music was great as well. So much better than what we have now.
